  • This is the 1980's for sure.

  • Prell sucks :-/ I'm saying this from a cosmetolgists POV

  • Prell gave me dandruff when I was a kid. Is this shampoo still made? Do they still sell it in that tube?

  • Ahhh The Famous Imma White girl watch me whiplash my hair Back...Gotta loce the good ole Dayz

  • Hahhh I remember this one too

  • "Thanks a lotsa"! That last girl was model Maggie Fahey (or Fahy) , who appeared in many commercials and fashion catalogues of that era...(Spiegel comes immediately to mind.) Lovely time to be young!

  • Are you sure it's 1984? It looks more late 70s. Reminiscent of the Charlie commercials. The font is very 70s, too.

  • The Betamax tape was from 1984, I guess it could have been an older commercial. Some of the hairstyles do look late 70s disco.

  • @kennethsalt Those styles changed fast back then. Even if it was filmed as late as 1980 it would not look like a 1984 commercial. By the mid-80s the hair would be curlier, less silky. And like I said, the scenes with her playing pool and by the piano are right out of the Charlie perfume commercial.

  • @kennethsalt Check out "Halsa Shampoo"--classic 80s shampoo--and you'll see what I mean. Hair was think and curly, not lustrous and silky. It's funny how it changes.

  • It's definitely 83/84. The fashions (sweater in the park, blouse during pool, and piano gown are dead giveaways), makeup (strong eye shadow in particular) and hair are entirely different than anything in the 70s. You can also tell by the production quality of the commercial. In the 70s images were not as crisp, colors not as bold.

  • @caderuse Strong makeup came in to style from the late 70s through the 80s.

  • @pnyc1969 this is definitely from 1984; the last girl, the one who says "Thanks a lotsa", always reminded me of the girl I had a crush on my senior year. I graduated in 1984.

  • @pnyc1969 I agree- it looks very 1979-81...

  • They still sell Prell Shampoo and Conditioner. Considering how affordable it is, it works surprisingly well.

  • I don't they even make the stuff any more.

  • I think i've gone bald from using prell as a kid!

  • Wow, completely forgot about this jingle. But then it all came back! Wonder what other great jingles I have forgotten...

  • "oh plerr..." <=(

  • who even uses prell anymore?

  • Is this Christy Brinkley before her nose job? 0:24/0:31

  • I think this came out in '82, not '84.

  • I remember seeing a commercial for Prell shampoo when I wasa kid. I was fascinated with how the lady washed her hair w/ Prell, and when her hair dried, it was all curly and pretty. I assumed it would do the same for me. (hey, I was justa kid) I begged my Mom to buy it for me and she did. Then she got mad because the first time I used it, I used ½ the bottle because I wanted my hair to be xtra curly. I lefta bathtub full of bubbles too.

  • she looks so beautiful i love her shiny jacket wow does she look good in it

  • this is what chaz dean calls a harsh shampoo

  • so glamourous !!!! Such beauties in 1984 compared to now xoxoxooxo

  • goodbye limp, goodbye flat, got lotsa this and lotsa that - could be a good viagra commercial too

  • lol

  • Thanks alotsa for that sensually trashy hair!
