Didn't hear this news when it happened! It's so sad. Teddy Pendergrass was the absolute top ballad singer on the black music scene in his day. He was idolized as the "Teddy Bear." When he was so grievously injured in the car accident, his career slipped I'm sure due to health concerns. It's sad that he had to suffer ill health the rest of his life and suffer with cancer. My prayers go out to this wonderful man who provided so many with love and joy through his magical music.

Teddy was in the class of David Ruffin, Levi Stubbs, Barry White, and Luther Vandross. My musical idols are all leaving us way too soon. God gave us Mr. Pendergrass and he took him away. RIP Teddy. You were MAGNIFICANT!!

He was such a passionate, powerful singer -- he really was a defining figure in the R&B music of the '70's, I could listen to his songs for hours!

What pisses me off is that hardly anyone was talking about him and it seems like no one gave a real damn about him after he died. This guy was and still is a fucking legend!!!!! People are just too damn worried about Miley Cyrus to care.

I think everyone's attention has been diverted becuase of the tragedy in Haiti. And a lot of people probably don't even know he has passed yet. God bless the people of Haiti, and of course God bless Teddy.

Yeah, I wish more celebrities would come out and pay tribute to this great. But let's wait and see what happens within the next few days. maybe BET or some music station will pay tribute to this great man. But thank God for You Tube. becuase I probably would not have known that he had passed so soon.

I loved Teddy, his voice and music inspired me and opened up a new Genre in Soul music for me back in the 80s...
When I first heard TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Luther Vandross, Barry White, and now Teddy P. These guys were the greatest inspiration to me growing up. I can't believe that they are now all gone. I discovered my own soul and have the most wonderful memories of my teenage years listening to their ballards. Heaven is swoonen right now.
