  • @horsepaintings

    yeah I guess lol

  • Gosh who knew this was a sport?

  • @arjeffs Yep, it's unusual-- gotta have something to do in those long months of winter!

  • How to die-1:42 secs. Never wrap your hand around a rope that is attached to a horse! looks fun though.

  • that lookes like fun!! and nothing like raw horse power!!

  • @iloveandhugemyhorse Downhill. We have also seen a few successful snow boarders, but being a boarder myself, I can tell you that it is much harder than on skis. And cross country skis would be nearly impossible because they are longer, thinner, much less maneuverable, and not really able to make the cuts necessary to swerving around the cones.

  • Go to face book on George Finnells channel to watch me ski jor in Leadville

  • @34xjjnt343 can't find you--

  • haha. i never said to leave them alone in the wild. im saying people should have more respect for their animals. i love my horse and would never go out there and put him in harms way at such a high risk. my horse loves being my pet and he loves having a job to do as well, but u must be a gamer, so their just breathing ATVs to u and im waisting my time on a selfish person. its all about your personal enjoyment and not the well being of your horse

  • Most notable example of horse wearing boots at 2:49 to prevent slipping. Yes, horses can slip in snow-- and in skiing you can break your leg. No sport is without risk.

  • @rocconisse To the point-- thanks for commenting!

  • @rocconisse

Ya well it's your choice to go out there and break your leg, it's not the horses choice to go out there and breaks it's leg.

  • @TheNalldog You're right-- they don't choose that. Just like dogs don't "choose" to be pets. No animal can make a conscious choice-- does that mean we should leave them alone, in the wild? I know my horse is happier when she has a job, gets enough food, vet care and exercise and is well taken care of, just like the horses in this video.

  • I guess I better tell my horses they have to quit galloping around their pasture in the snow.

  • I really am disappointed to hear/read people talking the way they are in the comments with regard to each other and how they choose to use/play with their equines. Those of us in the snow belt are used to playing with our horses rain, shine, snow and otherwise. There are precautions to take as horsepainter made reference to. We all are concerned for our horses' safety however, this is nothing they wouldn't be doing in the pasture on a cold winter day on their own. Come on people.

  • Thats pretty cool!

  • More crazy stuff to do with your horses!!

  • i wish skies worked on dirt. that way the horse could go faster!!! ha

  • well theres a danger if ever ive seen one! what would you do if one of your horses slipped on the snow fell and broke its leg and had to be put down! so very stupid to gallop your horses on snow even if its in a reasonably straight line as for the dudes on the back what if they gain to much speed and in a blank momment run into the back of the horses legs there for cutting the horse spooking it and more than likey injuring the dude on the back! think about it! this isnt safe! fun ! but not safe!

  • Sorry to disagree, I have watched these people doing this for 4 years now, and the horses don't slip. Some wear shoes with tiny studs or borium spots, some do it barefoot, some with hoof boots which probably have studs for traction. This is prepared snow, not hard-pack ice.

I agree the skier must be careful not to run up on the horse, but he has the option to just let go of the rope and veer off. These dudes who go at high speeds are good skiers, they have to be.

  • @EquineEqinox You stupid ignorant fuck, guess you've never tried it, did you. Never judge over things you don't know. Leave your horse in its stable at all times, so it doesn't get dirty. In snowy parts of the world everybody rides on snow. If it were dangerous for horse or man, no-one would do that.

  • @dorhout shows just how much you know my dear this is bad for the horse and the day a horse falls and hurts its self will be the day i with regret turn to u and say i told u so. and as for my horses i dont stable them till the winter months so thank you very much my dear and it would be hard to keep a horse clean if it was stabled all day as it would lie in its shit and piss suckers!

  • @EquineEqinox watch your language please

  • @EquineEqinox every thing is a danger in life horse riding is a danger people take chances if there were no chances to take action people would stay in their houses for the rest of their life

  • @EquineEqinox ,, what sport is safe??

  • @EquineEqinox Don't be a whiner, Heaven forbid a horse might slip. I guess when it snowed in the old days, horses just got stuck and didn't move and starved? Isn't that what happened? Haha didn't think so.

  • @darylluff yes because instead they were forced to do this i think nt u muppet seriously get a grip! n even if they were standing in the snow thy wuldnt b galloping around looking for food haha

  • whoa im so doing that!

  • IMHO many of these are barrel-racing horses, with all that sprinting energy they have!

  • shadoesoul, you are so right! horses rock!

  • I'd rather have a horse than a snowmobile any day!

  • That is so cool!!!!!

  • AWSOME!!!! Those horses rock at their job!

  • haha looks fun!
