what TRULY brings out the punk tho is the stupid ass WHOAS and YEAHS and the geniusly placed breakdown that doesnt fit in with the rest of the songs at all. it's like they stop in the middle of the song and start playing something completely different that doesnt fit or flow at all. Like a mediocre punk band that hasnt quite figured out how to get their music to flow all the way through

so I'm one of those fans that hates all the new stuff and loves everything up to and MAYBE including the Black Album. I've been playing in a punk band for 5 years. From all the shows I've played, and the local and up and coming bands i hear and playing alongside, this METALLICA song is typical punk rock. It's got everything right down to the simple 1,2drum beat.

Not great, but still good. It's better than St. Anger, and better than some of their older songs too. I'm going to assume that since it's live, it'll sound better on the CD. And if it does, it's looking to be a good album.

This is sad. They've truly ceased to be innovators and are merely mailing it in. They've lost their creative energy and are not into it anymore. Since Justice in 88, we've had 3 albums from them (Black, Load/Reload, Anger). If they actually manage to release one this year that will be four albums in 19 years! I feel sorry for Kirk - great guitarist - don't know why he doesn't up and leave. No solos on St. Anger?! Criminal!

Go get the new Overkill album instead (their 15th since 85)!

Actually...I liked St Anger. And Metallica always had slower but heavy songs, even in Master of Puppets CD. Metallica hasn't changed much really. This is more of a "we hate having non-metal fans listening to Metallica" war than a quality war. Metallica is just getting the blame for the war between the old and new fans.
