Aerodynamics here, and the mustang is a few hundered lbs heavier too.. The Lambo haS A TOP END OF ABOUT 195, so if the GT 500 was uncorked it'll run about 185 with 600 hp... I really doubt this GT500 had any more than 540 hp..

the shelby is actually 500 horsepower (based on the 2009). so the title is wrong. unless you upgraded it. but it sounds stock.

@StatusElite01 It won because it is a faster car made to go really fast, hence the price tag; mustangs are made to go 0-100 as fast as possible and that's about it (fun as hell for that short period though haha)...but I think people are arguing that if you gave them $200k they could make a mustang just as fast or faster. Although Lambo would be pretty hard to beat even with $200K

Frankly, I don't care that the Lamborghini won. I'd say that it's impressive how the Shelby competed against a car worth hundreds of thousands more and still proved it's a contender. The Shelby gives you far more bang for your buck, even if the Lambo is better.

@OgleTorp mustang fans can tell the difference that's why they put only a few $ into their cars and get them to outperform the 200-300k euro trash. There is a reason mustangs dominate the drag strip. If you want to kill it in the twisties then go with the Corvett. With american muscle for pennies on the dollar you can kill anything out of Europe. And it will cost them 250-2mill just to compete.

Throw some turns and some long straights and the mustang is history. Why do you think mustangs stink up the Nurburgring circuit ? Overweight, undertired ,outdated unibody chassis and solid rear axle. No wonder any tom, dick and harry can afford one with an entire car composed of cheap components.
