  • hey dude I can play everything you played on a 6string...

  • One does not just simply "Playthrough Skye". That was just unreal man.

  • PeteyG keep shredding i want to see you guys playing live in munich one day!!

  • I wonder what anyone on the train going past must have thought when they saw someone sitting by the track with a guitar... :)

  • EVERY vid i see of you Petey G on your picking hand you alternate between keeping your fingers fanned out and clasping them. Its Boggles me.

regardless keep feeding me this good stuff

  • 4:33 God, that was awesome

  • and a subscriber more dude ;D

    rock on man \m/

  • Awesome song! What gauge of string are you using on your 8th and 7th strings? I just can't find the right one for my Ibanez RG2228...

  • @MushFX1337 Pete uses a .080 for the 8th string, and a .060 for the 7th string.

  • @OfficialRedSeasFire Thanks a lot, I use a 74 for the 8th string and it's a bit flappy...

  • @OfficialRedSeasFire Christ, I use a .070 on my 6th haha, just what i'm comfortable with I guess

  • haha the train

  • Its great people like this who make me wish I was fat.

  • @anajimakos14 holy shit, just read your first post. You don't have to play blues to have "emotion" and most of those guy were on acid anyways. Go watch animals as leaders live and tell me there is no emotion in that

  • @anajimakos14 What? I can totally see him feeling the beginning riff and I'm only 30 seconds in. This kind of music is much harder to play than pretty much everything else, especially from a rhythm standpoint. There is plenty of emotion in his playing if you ask me.

  • dat tone

  • 10,001 viewer. :3

  • Very nice Pete!

  • not a big fan of this type of music but Pete and Nolly are phenomenal guitarists!

  • Most look at the notation hand, but being the guitar player that I am, I enjoy the picking hand far much more simply due to the fact that you get to see what creates the emotion behind the story. P.S. That train couldn't have passed through at a better moment.

    Keep it real!

    Kroker

  • This guitar is one of the finest guitars we did...

  • ok you can play fast or with 8string guitar..............the question is.....SO WHAT?????????? you cant get the feeling from an 8string guitar :P............................Hendrix,Page, F@cking Rhoads......they could play better than you in a 6string guitar!!! Check it....i like metal and i dont judge anyone....but get the feeling!!!!!!!!!!

  • @anajimakos14 but he's not Hendrix, Page or Rhoads....he's PETEYG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @anajimakos14

Okay. And what the fuck does this have to do with anything, exactly? ,_,

  • @anajimakos14 Where do you get the idea that when someone plays a guitar with more strings, the feel they're more technically accomplished than those who play standard guitars? Your comment makes it sounds like Pete's being a pretentious show-off by playing this track.

  • @Psyshimmer i dont mean this i dont judge anyone i said that already..............who am i to judge this guy........but i dont see the feeling.......i just see a guitarist who knows 5000000000000 things about guitar and just playing for nothing..

  • @anajimakos14 I don't see many guitarists who can put 'feeling' into this type of metal rhythm.

  • @anajimakos14 you can absolutely have feeling with any instrument, and I think Petey has a ton of feel. Its different than Hendrix, yes, but still lots of emotion here

  • And, what the lyrics talk about?

  • ughhh, that satin finish over the flame maple is so sex. love the editing too, especially the train part @4:31

  • My friends thought I had an awesome beard then I showed them this.

  • Awesome as always Pete.

  • What string guages are you using? especially that low b, wobbling about all over the place!

  • What is that by your nut? Looks like something just sitting under the strings or something like that.

  • @JoshStraitiff It is a piece of foam, it stops the strings behind the nut from creating annoying resonances when I'm trying to do syncopated start-stop riffs.

  • @PeteygRaves Ah interesting. I havent experienced that above the nut before but i can see it happening.

  • @PeteygRaves i sat down and listened while i was playing just now.. now i cant stop hearing it. thanks a lot lol

  • Whoa, that train timing was perfect.

  • i wish i had his beard

  • Your riffs are so catchy it hurts my feelings.

  • shit

  • You sir are a fucking machine!!!

  • Hey I was wondering, why is this song called Skye? Does someone in the band have a connection to the misty isle? :)

  • @mcchuff When the record was pretty close to being released this track was the only one without a name, and around this time one of Pete's dogs, quite a young female who was a pretty serious rescue case, was found to have an inoperable cancerous tumor in her neck. Pete asked the guys if it was ok to name the track after her and they obliged. She passed away about a month after the record came out.

  • @OfficialRedSeasFire What a coincidence. Mastodon's album "Crack the Skye" was named after their drummer Brann Dailor's sister who commit suicide when she was 14.

  • @OfficialRedSeasFire you guys should write name explanations for all of your songs , would be very interesting :D

  • @OfficialRedSeasFire i cried bro. seriously.

  • 3:29 the best part.

  • what an awesome vid, please, congatz!:

  • I was gonna say your hands are lookin a little cold there! hahaha great vid

  • what tuning u in

  • @NickBlev6 I think its EAEADGBE, if I can remember correctly from the video when he mentions it.

  • @AskeGuitar You're correct. I remember it too. :)

  • Dear Pete, what thickness is your 8th string? How do you like the tension and playability of a relatively big string? I am deciding whether a scale length of 27 inch will be suffice for the tension.

    Thank you in advance.

  • @Japgunner The 8th string is a .080, and yeah the tension is fine, any thinner and it would be a bit of a bother, but the .080 is just right.

  • Great video and song, got a new favorite band

  • Passenger notice: The train to chug central is now approaching. Please mind the gap else your face would melt off!

  • The grin of nailing a fucking sweet riff, priceless.

  • @jackfish1990 I loved his expressions. Especially when he moves his head from side to side. :D I wonder if they timed that train pass?

  • YOU are awesome!

  • That guitar is a thing of fucking beauty

  • Ohhhhhhh RSF, let me count the ways...

  • @3:29 "Bitch please, i'm Petey freakin' G"

  • @KyleFlananananagan hahahaha i thought the exact same thing

  • Dude, the train went by at the perfect time! Haha. Awesome playthrough!

  • er.. ben orum?

  • NICEEEE

  • Fucking sick dude. Absolutely love it.

  • fuck dude.

    sick video

  • peteyG rules!! 0oo0

  • peteyG rules

  • Are you using very thin strings or your camera is better than real eyes?

  • @gianniswildchild

Each strings can do this. U need only bright light.

  • When did Zac Brown start playing metal?

  • Fuck Yeah

  • This song just got a lot... better for some reason

  • @dennychaos I totally agree with you.

  • it was a fuckin great movie pete. as always! keep up the good work

  • Got the chills watching the end, feeling that, that was it!

  • i love the timing of the train..the way it sounded with the song was bad ass

  • \\m// (>.<) \\m//

  • That groove...

  • Whats the tuning Mr G?

  • Awesome playing man. :)

  • I kept watching for a train. I'm glad it actually came. I didn't even see it coming until it was right there. Yeah, must have been really cold, but it was worth it, right? I really enjoyed the change of scenery. I should do this for my vids too. Regarding the outro, you would think a person might tire of its drawn out quality, but actually it is my most favorite part. Skye is one of my top favorites on the EP. Thanks for that composing it the way you did - especially the outro. RSF forever!

  • Notch plays guitar? :P

  • More vids like this!!

  • THAT GUITAR!

  • 3:28

  • Best part starts at 5:23 :D

  • Why did that train ride by in tempo?

  • Nice train bro.

  • You are a master Pete :)

  • seeing those strings bounce around during the breakdown makes me get a boner...... that is some awesome playing man!

  • Need this patch in my life

  • 4:31 a wild train appears
