  • Fuck that things a piece of shit hahaha

  • sounds nice m8, ive just bought the stage 2 cam and memcal computer for my vt, gotta get heads done first then fitted. did u need the dyno tune or can u avoid that straight away???

  • hey im thinking about putting a lumpy cam in a vs v6 and i was just wondering if its much different without the dyno tune? is it worth having it tuned?

  • hey mate, just wondering what brand cam that is and what exact modifications i need to fit it to my car, thanks

  • Just curious, have you ever done this kind of work on a Series 1 Commodore V6? To cut a long story short, when I have the shed space to do it, I'll be building a 1 tonner with a Commodore V6, but worked. The Series 1 engine will be the one I have readily available. Call me old fashioned, but I'm not a fan of alloy heads, so definitely won't be an Ecotec

  • @Mechknight73 . Ecotech engines don't have alloy heads. They iron heads . If you'd seen the amount of iron heads I've seen scrapped because they where cracked you wouldn't be a fan of iron heads either. Iron heads don't nessesarily mean more reliability.

  • @aussiepaul44 Must have been the VT, because at least one version of the Ecotec does

  • @Mechknight73 . VS,VT,VX,VY Commodore Ecotec's are all fitted with iron heads. The engine that replaced it in the VZ ,called the Alloytech has alloy heads and an Alloy block.

  • Doesn't sound to healthy and it struggled to start and turn over... i think u might wanna tune that so the motor isn't jolting like that cause it could do a lot of damage :) then again i don't know much about the upgrades you've done so ignore me if I'm wrong :)

  • @keystar123458 yes we will ignore, its called a cam, hence the video

  • @Hammertin ... Hence my comment --> " then again i don't know much about the upgrades you've done so ignore me if I'm wrong "

  • @keystar123458 but the video tells you stage 3 cam in the first place

  • hey mate, did you get better or worse fuel eco after this cam??

  • In vic you can get away ith alot of these mods just by saying that you bought the car as is, and don't know how to change it over, atleast 1/2 of the cops will be accepting and tell you to take it down to a shop. That is, as long as you aren't a cunt to them.

  • @Jroome If the cops try to give you a "defective vehicle" sticker because of the mods on the engine , you tell em that youre a mechanic and the car will be on the road tomorrow again!

  • How much did it make?

  • Lmao, sounds like a dirty old truck or some shit!!

  • is it legal to drive with those mods on your P's?

  • @hellenic300 no, unless your're in W.A then you can drive anything that's road legal.

  • @Kieran263 lucky cunts in WA

i hate the car laws in australia, they'll dick you here for anything

  • @hellenic300 shittest thing ever

  • @hellenic300 Thats why I love driving in Greece mate! No hoon laws there lol :)

  • @KPAracing yup when i went people were going 130 along side cops on the freeway haha

  • @hellenic300, yes here in victoria any power mod is illegal, but then again they cant prove it

  • @scootbmx01 well if the cop know his shit, he could probably prove it by looking under the bonnet :P

ah P plate laws suck in victoria

  • @hellenic300, cops will have to strip my new engine to find my mods :P

  • wat ratio are ur terra rockers?

  • love the tri-spokes!!! Retro!

  • Hey man car sounds sick for a 6! Do you have any troubles starting it when its cold? ie on a cold day.. Oh and is that a custom/aftermarket intake manifold or is that whats under the plastic engine cover?

  • Hey man car sounds sick for a 6! Do you have any troubles starting it when its cold? ie a cold day..

  • sorry dude but it sounds a little shity probs goes all right though

  • dude that is sick im lookn for some nice lumpy cams for mine what brand are yours

  • too much testosterone in here!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds tough..will go with a well deserved 2.5" exhaust and set of good headers!!

  • Love the Ecotecs. putting one into a HQ 1 tonner it's going to be awsome =)

  • @rcrus7 na if Hq go a Big block chev or smal lblock chev :) sound evan cooler and go a lot harder adn then u don't need the Computer n shit and a really neet engine bay :) ima buy an Vx to do up as a burnout/drag car for a bit fun at the WISD dragway but still got 4 yrs well 3 and a bit b4 i can do it :(

  • Got any updates on this? I wanna hear this thing without being muffled.

  • on the ecotecs..dont know about buicks s1/2 to get a cam you have to upgrade to a double row timing chain because the timing chain tensioners wear out and snap. this means you have to remove your harmonic balancer and plug the oil hole

  • @vxzapper

whoa ease up buddy. The car is perfectly drivable. Thanks to a dyno tune. And hoon laws are in place to protect innocent lives from idiots trying to be cool infront of there friends going fully sick sideways around corners in their sweet as bro xr6's. Car enthusiasts like myself and others that enjoy working on and driving these vehicles after much work and effort have gone into them are not affected by the hoon laws. BECAUSE WE ARE NOT HOONS. /end rant

  • @skyracercats

Current amount of cars in my towns impound lot for hooning: Four. ALL of them commodores, three of them p-platers...While i FULLY agree with you on the enjoyment of working on a car then driving it, i cant help but feel that hoons drive commodores rather then falcons due to the cheap pricing of the vehicle. that will be all

  • @Stacuracy182 commodores are more expensive due to the demand and reliability...

  • @thatrowl

EASILY the most ill conceived lie about commodores i have head...

  • @Stacuracy182 a quick search shows that you can buy a falcon 4-7 years newer for the same price as a commodore. and to back me up on the reliability side of things, therell also be 75%-100% as many commodores for sale

although it would be nice if they were cheaper, it gives me pride knowing i have a far superior car :)

  • @Stacuracy182 yeah righto you copy-cat, where did you search?and did you trawl through the list to find one example that contradicts what i said and use that? mate im sure the ratio of holdens to fords would be much higher than when they were produced..and do you know why there are more holdens produced in the first place? because theyre a better car and sell alot better...

  • @thatrowl

I refuse to argue with someone expressing so much denial. That will be all.

  • @Stacuracy182 hey i think its more of a matter of there being too much evidence to support what ive said and that your search results are highly questionable? im not in denial, look at yourself. you took the wrong side...

  • @thatrowl so ur a ford fan ?cos if u are Why the fuck did u Look up holden ???????????

  • @joshyperk im not a ford fan...i fuckin love holden! what makes you say that

  • @vxzapper

    gay :L

  • sounds tough even without the exhaust

  • yeah i want this done to my vs. can i just chuck a cam in the engine and nothing else. i have CAI and a 2.5" catback its a manual. dono if that helps

  • How much did the Cam cost you??? i want to get it done to my Vr

  • too all thoughs people saying why cam it with out a good exhust and its a shit cam and stuff why dont you just say

why the fuck would you cam a v6 get some money and some balls and cam a v8 retard

  • I personally like it. Cam first, exhaust later is the way i'd go too. Ignore those friggin idiots..

  • How long did it take to install the cam yourself? Also did you need the ECU retuned?

Thinking about putting one in myself but put off with how hard everyone says it is to do.

  • @kaynedavis READ THE DESCRIPTIONits says untuned so it runs rich

  • I think your cool cause you wanna be differant. unlike every tool with a stock v6 who drive there boagan cars with shit exhausts up to maccas. anyway it's obvious that you didn't wanna wait and wanna show what it sounds like now and promote the cam package. I wud rather the sleeper than a car that sounds like it has to go hard.

  • despite the piss ant exhaust, it sounds great!

  • are the buick v6's and ecotec v6's completely different internally or are they the same just with different external cosmetics? i wish to purchase a 3.8 but want one that would work well turbo-charged and with small amount of internal changes..

  • nice mate! how much did the cam pack cost you for everything? wouldnt mind doing that to mine

  • heres a ? is this the same 3.8l that is used in Gm cars ? or is this a overseas only

  • i hate how that sounds on all commos. it sounds like its grinding something.

  • hahaha.... hook up the spark lead ya joker... that things just runnin on 4 cylinders....... nah sounds nice....... mega sleeper!!

  • okay dude, you really need to try harder, my 3.8L, two and a half in genie with hotdog and no resi sounds healthier than that. that just sounds like your not trying, sounds unwell

  • @porn100freak do you understand the concept of a lumpy cam?

  • interesting, what sort of power increase do you get my camming the 3.8?

  • vs-vr best looking commodores love the shape, looks beastly. I dont like the new ones, vt-ve look too business or family, vl vk vn vs rule HOLDEN FOREVER!

  • What Cam is it ??

  • @copteaser69 read further on, but its a camtech custom grind, 23x/23x at 0.050" 110lsa. around 0.550" lift at valve with 1.6 rockers

  • My car sounds like that, but I got a bad compression in one cylinder :/

  • meanest sounding v6 i ever heard

  • hey look, it almost a buick 3.8!

  • sounds like shit.

  • that sounds like shit man time for a new car

  • where did u buy the cam from?? im wanting 2 put 1 in my vx... and prices to??

  • it sounds like someone tap dancing haha. So is this a 229in/229ex duration or 290? because i don't anyone would eveen use a 290 in almost any street car

  • Obviously knows nothing about cams^^^

  • @skyracercats and is blind and can't see that all the coil packs are on it haha

  • @omguleh100 if you pull a coil pack off it would be running on 4cyls, as a coil provides spark to 2 cylinders.

    This is a cam.

  • @sp001in still each pot has a single lead going to it drop one lead then its on 5 lol

  • @omguleh100 when you learn what an engine is, maybe youll understand whats involved in wearing a cam in. you stroke it and slap a cam in and think you can just rev the fuck out of it ? lol

  • Thats idles disgusting for a basically stock donk with huge cam, with the extractors and high flow cat with good pipe work she will be the screamer from hell. Nice work lads

  • why did u upgrade ur cam and u havent even got exhaust or extractors done yet?

usually the first mod 2 do thats all..

  • hey mate, just wondering where you got that cam

  • custom grind camtech cam

  • hey wat power did u get out of it i am thinking about building my vn motor again diff motor i know its got 180 rwhp and good for a 14.7 qtr atm but its spun another cam bearing anyone no wat sort of power ppl have been getting out of a n/a buick 3.8

  • get sum vids up to show what it goes like very very keen to see

  • That sounds angry, I love it.

  • What octane fuel were you running?

  • Thats not stage 3.. what are the spec's mate? and that ticking noise sounds like the alternator pulley is fucked. Mine did that in my vt after i put a cam in it meaning that could be your problem pulling tight then loose throwing your idle out and making a ticking noise. :)

  • cam is a stage 3 custom grind, of the order 23x/23x at 0.050", with 0.550" lift in/ex at the valve and 110LSA

this video was taken untuned. I would be surprised if your cam was as large as this one.

  • tip, if you want to idle better, install a cold air induction kit that was on a VN exucutive i think, they sit above the raditor and force cold air into the engine, also when you do this remove the plastic bell mouth/plendum chamber shroud after the throttle body, it sits within the aluminum air chamber

  • thats only with the buick engines not the ecotec.

  • lol ur a fucking sped, its a vs series 1, and yes its a ecotec, its just got the cover off, retard.

  • yea i was talking about what mrroby123 said. i own an ecotec i know what they look like...

  • @Tavo69ruckus your a tool its a vs so its an ecote

  • never said it wasn't... read it properly dick

  • did you install new valve lifts, bearing and head gascets as that is also a good thing to do on a car, its like putting in a $500 video card ina computer that is worth $20, when building/rebuilding engines try to include in your budget at least allot of things and upgrade them all to take the stress, such as a double row timing chain for the cam etc.

  • i thought i removed this sorry, posted before watching vid, ignore it as mistaken

  • cam was installed with balance shaft delete, double row roller timing chain, new oil pump, pressure bypass, valve seals, springs, machined retainers (new), new pushrods, YT roller rockers.

This wasnt a budget cam install. Other than lifting the heads, everything installed was top notch.

It also had installed a higher stall converter, supercharged v6 coils, metal LIM and front cover gaskets, new rocker cover gaskets, drilled cooler thermostat.

  • @taztassio did u have to modify the timing cover at all for the double row timing chain, im thinking of doing some mods along the lines of yours

  • @goddamncompsux sorry for late reply. used a ZZP machined front cover, double timing cover gaskets. also the problem with drow t/c and clearance is problem on US 3800, the chamfer on the nose of the crank is slightly different, and so the bottom sprocket doesnt sit flush with the top, causing clearance issues

  • Well man the alloytech engine has 4 fuckin camshafts not 1 and If you want them it'll cost you a grand a piece!

  • ok im very sorry to say this but SERIOIUSLY man do some maintenance to ur car man ... leads, plugs, injectors, coils seriously no point of having a cam with no push behind it

  • Comment removed

  • have you driven it around yet with the new cam yet? just curious how it goes in the lower rpm range. manual or auto box?

by the looks of it you've certainly been playing around with the valvetrain side on things.

got an kw aim to get after the tune and exhaust?

  • Why would you cam a car with a stock exhaust.. Why bother.. You still get no flow.. Get a big exhaust and intake first..

  • Typical dumb ass reply.

Stock exhaust isnt that bad. ever looking at the inside of the manifolds? they match the heads reasonably well. All these ecotec fan bois get an exhaust on their stock ecotec and they just sound like their going fast, not actually moving.

Ofcourse an exhaust is in the works, but why not cam it when you want to?

  • I got the cam first because I don't want to be one of those v6 idiots that gets a big exhaust on a stock engine and have it sound like a fart cannon. They're not cool, don't sound any good and just makes you look like a tool. When my exhaust goes on, it will have balls rather sound like a loud grass trimmer.

  • man i know next to nothing about engines, all i want to know is how much a cam would be for my ute, and if it'd be worth it for the sound. mines the alloytech but...

  • gunna need 4 cams man, they're like a grand a piece too. so 4 large to make it sound lumpy.

  • WTF are you on dude 14684kgioe you can buy a cam kit from a place called the cam shak in mornington for under a grand suplied only

  • How many k's has she done mate? might be time to replace all your pulley's including the idler pulley

  • yeah we just had to replace our pulleys because of the bearings making weird noises on them in our VX. Our idler puller snapped off because of corrosion which would be also important to look at haha

  • idle pulleys need doing, but a cam of this size required some very heavy springs, and as such the valve train wont be quiet

  • @skyracercats thats where u get a 3" catback exhaust with extractors...no power loss (maybe slight gain) and a better note...more of a purr.

  • @skyracercats obviously knows nothing about how to build a good exaust :)

  • @VCcommy obviously can not read the note at the very beginning of the video stating it is the stock exhaust. Clearly not built by myself.

  • @skyracercats was a reply regarding one of your early comments about how an exaust sounds and your reason for the so called cam that sounds like a 5 cyclinder running :)

  • @skyracercats I agree bro

  • @skyracercats , agreed. and ill tell you something also comming from a tafe teacher... the standard exaust in a commodore ecotec v6 brings the optimal amount of flow and back pressure, anything larger will reduce back pressure and will inevetably loose power...and all for some gay exaust note that sounds like a droning peice of shit anyway?... well done with the cams, and im with you on this one, id rather have cams and no exaust then exaust with no cams.

  • @CommodoreWog well thats bullshit because ive been in atleast 3 ecotecs with non stock exaust and they do perform better than a stock. so i dont know what you have been drivn

  • @Hail2TheChimp1st , no bud it just gives of a wank noise therefor giving you the impression that it goes better.

  • @CommodoreWog thats not true, its like blowing through a very small straw, compaired to a larger straw. its common sense. put it on a dyno and you will notice the diffence. even if it is just a few more kwts doesnt matter. cuz their is a diffrence

  • @Hail2TheChimp1st, breathing through straws has fuck all to do with back pressure, fuel economy and acceleration. Stop saying what you've been told by the dead shit down the road, say that to any mechanic that actually knows what he's talking about and you will get laughed at. You obviously havnt been taught in the field.

  • @CommodoreWog LOL deadshit down the road ey. if u know what ur on about then u obviously wud know that backpressure isnt a problem with anything lower than a 2.5" on a v6. im sick of talkn to a deadhead about what i know for a fact anyway so get over urself and realise its a performance mod. and the straw thing i just common logic that i wud explane to idiots

  • @Hail2TheChimp1st , hahaha ok then champ! next time you wanna race someone that actually knows what there talking about, and as been educated, trained and has had years of experience in the field, you'll put your foot down at the lights, and the quiet commodore will eat you alive! your wank exhaust system will give you the impression that your goin fast but when push comes to shove youve just fucked your top and bottom end and made your self look like a tool!... and i say to you sir... U WANKER!

  • @CommodoreWog tis a fact ive done it on the road already, test it on the road then talk. if not just keep bein a troll over youtube. cuz u clearly sound like you know what ur talkin about sayn that a performance mod doesnt work better than stock... when the ecotecs have so many restriction they need mods to harness their full potential. mabe it doesnt work with an old VL ur probaby driving lol

  • @CommodoreWog you know much less than you think superwog.. Please enlighten me as to how you can damage ur bottom end by having a 2.5inch mandrel bent exhaust? your telling me the crown temp of the pistons will be affected so drastically that they will melt due to the EXTREME lack of backpressure. With this size cam he will best benefit from a 2.5mandrel bent or 3inch system. Running with no exhaust (manifold) can damage ur exhaust valves as the temperature is increased, u wont hurt ur motor

  • @FormulaVeeRacer1200 , Bottom end meaning power wise, Acceleration. Not the mechanical bottom end your barking up. Oh and crown temps of piston melting? tell me exactly were i stated that quote? Bottom end i was referring to in the rev range. Dont get to cocky bud, might just come back to bite you.. especially when you take things out of context.

  • @CommodoreWog well your half right, the diameter of the pipe is optimal for all round performance yes, but the design of the mufflers and the type of bends in the pipe decrease flow and increase back preasure which restricts performance on a stock engine so i'm sure you could imagine what it would do to an engine with extensive mods on/in it.

  • @helrzr925 , lmao half right. dont tell me about performance bud, ill laugh at you. obviosly you'd get then mandrel bent for optimum flow, hence that i said standard diameter is optimum for a 6, standard exhaust with mandrel bend and a set off tune length extractors do a perfect job. dont preach to me, iv been in the game probably for longer than youve been alive.

  • @CommodoreWog well you said standard exhaust, not standard diameter with mandrel bent pipes and tuned extractors, and i wasn't preaching i was mearly stating.

and i'm not trying to have a go at you, but just because someone has been in "the game" for ages doesn't mean they're good at "the game"

  • @helrzr925, Im a tafe teacher. and as i stated before, dont preach to me.

  • @CommodoreWog , The only way your going to achieve power through an exhaust is with a set of tune length headers and mandrel bent exhaust. High flow cats imo make fuck all difference on commodores. Oh and for any of the other smartarses out there that say that exhausts give you power... with the right set of HEADERS and a MENDREL BENT EXHAUST you will make POWER. BUT the amount of exhaust companies that make larger exhaust diameters WITHOUT a MANDREL BEND or HEADERS is purely a waste of time.

  • @skyracercats lol very right

  • @skyracercats I love this sound, its amazing for a v6. I just wanted to throw in some adise for you. I can hear a hissing sound from the engine and becomes louder when you lift the lid. Just wanted to say that is coming from the air being pulled through the air intake manifold. You would be best off removing the huge plasic manifold and just placing a high flow air filter streight onto the throtle body.

  • @DangerZONEpixel thats a retard idea bud.

  • the jbdman, nice to see u know sweet fuck all, thats a cold air intake, u leave the stock box on it.. and another thing.. thats defently a cam.. when a coil fucks up and the car is running 1 or 2 cylenders down it deffently dont sound that lumpy.

  • AHaha that guy is a dick.

The specs are in the order of 23x/23x at 0.050" with 0.5xx" intake and exhaust lift.

    110 LSA.

Also running SUPERCHARGED v6 coil packs (much better than msds) as well as a 2600rpm stall converter.

Heads and intake will be modified later down the track, as will an exhaust.

    It is tuned now however.

  • howbout getting a video of it doing a driveby and another one of it just ideling??? that would be nice to see :)

  • Sounds like your having a bit of trouble starting it there.. hehe

  • Stage 3 cam my butt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about checking your spark leads first champ. Nice stock intake. It alone would not allow a stage3 cam to work let alone the stock exhaust. But if that's what floats ya boat. Power to you, or not!

  • i think u need a decent exhaust 2 go with that :)

  • Theres no way that thing has a cam, it sounds like it's running a cylinder down, you say you have a cold air intake but I see a stock airbox, it's easy to claim you have something nobody can see.132 LB springs please the rods would be able to lift them

  • the sc intake (supercharger) is the thing thats sitting above the radiator fuckwit!

  • Sounds good ... But dude, seriously, that zorst has to go! Heads could do with some porting too then the tune!

Its an animal but with both your hands around its neck sqeezing the absolute shit out of it!

Spend your coin and get that thing crackin!

I used to own a NA V6 a few years back, had the heads and a mildish sorta cam, ported plenum and GEN3 TB ... Never having it tuned, but still put out over 200rwhp

  • i reckon you will have fun driving around town with that cam. because everybody drives at 3500 revs.

unless thats a track car, that size cam is just stupid, barely driveable. but the power gains up in the higher revs like 4-5000 will be pretty decent.

  • It's not a track car.

The cam isn't as bad drive ability wise as people make it out to be just by looking at the specs of the cam. maybe I'm just use to it since Ive been driving this around for a while now. And it makes me happy so that's my choice to use it as my daily.

  • yeah thats fair enough. what cam is it? and what are the specs do you know?

  • nice cam sounds lumpy and mean :)

  • nice cam mate but a full exhaust has gotta come next otherwise nobody's gonna hear that sweet cam. Put that cam in mine plz =)

  • i hate when ppl are like omg its sounds horrible! thats how a fukin cam is spose to sound dumasses

  • that is normal! huge cams are great!! if it dont lope its usless!!! sweet car I LOVE the cam. i have similar spec cam in my 3.8L and it shakes lopes sounds sweet.

  • why does it sounds like its about to break down? will it ever sound normal again?

  • its cammed, not meant to sound anything diferent

  • when you have a bigger staged cam the car doesn't work stable.its revs are always dropping and raising.that's why it sounds like that

  • Nice cam mate... Got any updates on the car?

  • nICE CAM

  • very nice man, whats the damage for a cam like that? Cheers.

  • what sort of cam you running any updates?

  • really impressed man, how much did your cam cost? plz
