Try to put a little cornstarch on the fretboard. I do that and have little to no noise and if you put some one the back of the guitars neck as well your hand can slide easier
I have a question. My fingers make way too much noise when they slide across the fretboard. I know they are supposed to, since that´s the idea of the acoustic guitar, but when I play for other people they always remark the tense noise I make when I change chords and it is getting on my nerves. Please help!
This guy is the Boss! I want him to be my guitar teacher, or my brother, friend, boyfriend, lover, naighbour, ANYTHING! It's too bad thatI think he has a secreary who answers the e-mails..... :)
i learnt bar chords when i learnt regular chords, i taught myself guitar, but i know nothing about chord progression and scales or any of that stuff, i think im beyond being taught now, too many years of playing badly, bad habits, can i be helped????
Thank you , extremly helpfull to understand for me. Now I know how to swtitch between a G /bm , that was a problem that I always was irritated on my technique, I know praticse mattter but knowing how to do it simpler also help a lot. Just great. :)
hey dave whats up good teacher, want u to know ive learned so much from u in just a couple months thank u so much for takeing the time to make these vids i watch u everyday and learn something new everytime keep up the amazing work bro
I'm just learning barre chords froma book right now can anyone recommend this site for a begginer and don't mean just a begginer I mena a total noob cause I'd like to learn and this site is really inviting.
excellent lesson... the "hitching a ride" tip for the pinky has opened it all up to me... this is the killer tip that all the other books don't give you...
That's the 1st thing I said to Dave when I met him this past Labor Day weekend @ a bar called "The Ketch" in Beach Haven, NJ. We spoke for a few minutes about his YouTube page I told him how I'ver been watching his lessons for a few years now & he was very appreciative. He's one of the coolest guy ever. Rock On Good People, Rock On!
thanks man. ive been playing guitar for about 15 years now and im still uncomfortable/crappy at switching between standard chords and barre chords. i have favorited this video and will be using it to practice.
Hey Dave this is the first time I've ever seen one of your lessons. You are a great teacher, and I'm thinking that you'll take me to the next level. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hey dude don't bash them, they're just trying to help. They cover a wide variety of material in different styles, with many different instructors, and a lot of their lessons are great...remember also that this is free. Personally they've had an impact on my playing.
Thanks Dave for the lessons, they are very helpful to those who are slow at learning, people in general are not that considerate of others and thats a shame, this proves you are considerate my friend. God_bless you. - Best regards- Thomas
Hi Debbie - this lesson is from our Beginner DVD set 9-12 - we also have the beginner 1-4 set and 5-8 set and many other instructional dvds - check them all out on our website at next level guitardotcom
wow, as a relative beginner, this may be the best video lesson on youtube I have seen. All kinds of cylinders just clicked in my head and I'm going to try them out tonight! Yesterday was my birthday and I think I just figured out what I'm going to treat myself to :D
clearly people are retarded and didn't get i was sarcastic, i am learning lots of cords, cords also make up the notes to an arpeggio, i know my theory
i can do bar chords for electric pretty much easy but goddamn is it hard for acoustic
particularly that G string...its always muted..ive tried every which way and it seems like that part of my finger just has too much fat/skin to it that my finger bone doesnt really touch the fret..
I have this prob too! Maybe what you can try is to bring it to a guitar tech to tighten the truss rod to reduce the action of the guitar. And maybe you can change the strings to a lower gauge. Like say... 0.10 gauge strings.

I like to use the same 3 fingers, pinky, ring and middle to play the open E. Same with the Am. No worries just slide right up to any barr chord.
