Um, this sounds a lot like "Givin Yourself Away" by Ratt; the main melody, anyway. And what do these songs (besides that melody) have in common? Co-writer Desmond Child. Looks like he had some self-plagiarism going on and Rivers was none the wiser. Check it out, just search for "ratt giving yourself away" and it's all there.
Being a weezer fan doesn't make you a nerd. You don't have to be a nerd to appreciate good music, and it certainly can't hurt to have good taste in music while still being ourselves. And I think THAT is the message.

Here's my 2 cents: Weezer has the unfortunate problem of making music a very tired genre. Think about it: guitar pop - it's not as punky as Green Day, not interesting enough to aim for Pixies, not pop enough to conquer the lowest common denominator, not funny enough to be Blink 182, not edgy enough for Bloc Party etc. So how do you shine through? I'm not sure. This is a decent song on a very decent album, but I can't find a single thing that would scream "oh wow, now THIS is something!"

@fluffinatra this album has had great reviews so far. Very happy and excited for Weezer because they are the nicest guys, and the hardest owrking band today. they have come out with a cd in 2009 2010, and have 3 albums in the works.

There is not one weezer cd that I hate. Make Believe is probably my least favorite and it has 2 favorite songs of mine on there.

This CD was reverting back to the pinkerton style, but with obvious new influences.
it's one of the best CD's I own.

@ everyone how can this be getting bad reviews first off it makes everyone think chance is bad and its not this cd is amazing. if anything the old cd was bad but not horrible u poor critics cant understand change wtf is wrong with you.....maybe instead of talking shit why dont u try to come up with something like this? thats right u cant so piss off......thank you

Here's my 2 cents: Weezer has the unfortunate problem of making music a very tired genre. Think about it: guitar pop - it's not as punky as Green Day, not interesting enough to aim for Pixies, not pop enough to conquer the lowest common denominator, not funny enough to be Blink 182, not edgy enough for Bloc Party etc. So how do you shine through? I'm not sure. This is a decent song on a very decent album, but I can't find a single thing that would scream "oh wow, now THIS is something!"

Weezer champion all those who a nerds, geeks, different or in the words of rivers himself 'Trainwrecks' for everyone who walked down the corridoor and had jocks call them names and take the piss. weezer make people go "Hey you kno what...i am a nerd, and its fucking awesome being 'wierd'...

@TheSnooch123 Hey, you hit a good point - being one of those oppressed "trainwrecks" for years, I sympathize fully. And I think it's awesome being weird and that our culture supporting the jock movement is beyond my comprehension. However, it's apples and oranges: I'll love Weezer for the idea and the thought, but their music just doesn't click that button with me. Still, if they ever made a short movie doing their pro-geek thing, sort of like the early Beatles, I'm hollering for it!

@TheSnooch123 I get what you're saying...i mean hell, i am that person. I just don't get that vibe from Weezer anymore. I could relate to his old self, when he was younger. Yes, i know, he's not that same person anymore. He's a guy that seeks out to make a buck or two...i can't relate to him anymore. It's just how it is. I'm not going to complain about it, it's just reality. Just bringing attention to it.

i love weezer and always will and have to give credit to them for trying new styles,but they have to make another album in their old styles. no album in the world can compare up to pinkerton and i think they should do something similar to it

Good album - Weezer rarely disappoints. It's cool you can listen to for free here but will still give them their props and purchase this from Itunes.

@fluffinatra this album has had great reviews so far. Very happy and excited for Weezer because they are the nicest guys, and the hardest owrking band today. they have come out with a cd in 2009 2010, and have 3 albums in the works.

@Dallasblows20 I guess i'v just been reading the wrong CDs. I love every CD but the reviews i have read were bad and they are all saying they are losing their touch. I am excited for all of their other CDs. I think they are one of the coolest band ever because they rarely do anything for money.

@fluffinatra yea for the most part, the reviews have been positive and are drawing a blue album/pinkerton vibe. Im always excited for a weezer cd because they always come out with a good song. There is not one weezer cd that I hate. Make Believe is probably my least favorite and it has 2 favorite songs of mine on there.
