Saw these twice in 1975 when they released Ricochet album, they had what i describe as a large old telephone swichboard plugging in connectors and a large looping tape at one end but the sound was briliant well it was 36 yrs ago
The atmospheric EBM/Industrial artist "Forma Tadre" created his name by combining the first few letters of each word in this song title, and band name.
Wonderful stuff I Love The Force majeure Album!! anybody who says its not real music, well just listen to it! anything that sounds so wonderful and powerful is 100% music to the ears, what difference how it was created, created it was and wether conventional instruments are used or not used , matters not!! ;) well done TD
A lot of purists don't like this album, but I can't for the life of me understand why.
No, it's not Phaedra, but it's still incredibly beautiful music in it's own right, and shows that Edgar and Chris had awesome magic during this period.
I was so sceptic about Force Majeure album. I thought that nothing could be better than Phaedra or Rubycon. But now this track is the best music I have ever heard. It is so good at some points that it is almost painful.
this is my favorite piece of music that is not classical music of all time... not sure why its such an incredible evocation of emergence of structure out of chaos...
I remember walking across someones room...don't know where... can't remember. I heard that bell at 1:29 seconds into this.
I stopped dead in my tracks! I just listened. Couldn't stop!
I asked, "Who is that?"
"Tangerine Dream."
I look at the label as it went around and round on the LP until I made out "Force Majeure." That was the next album I picked up...the rest of My TD collection is history for me...
This is where it started. My love of TD. Got most of the street vibrating to this with my Wharfedales and a Leak valve amp. Still got it all 30 years on. Sounds a whole lot better than mp3, cd, dvd downloaded digitally.compressed to buggery Give me vinyl and I'll try to show the depth and space from enormous speakers and an amp from the ark. Pure analogue
Siempre me ha cautivado el sonido hipnótico de T.D. Música de las esferas, una dentro de la otra. Cada teclado y sampler interpreta su melodía, donde produce un efecto sinérgico y del conjunto de melodías surge un mayor.
The track starts out promising and epic, but 4 min in it starts to show a lack of coherence, and feels more like a fusion track, with alot of dull melodies
This has the style of Tangerine Dream, but not the substance.
It starts out like a lot of TD, but I started questioning the track beginning with the progression at 3:44, but at 5:54, we clearly hit the ridiculous point of no return. If you use music like this in an ironic scene in a dystopian film, OK, but on its own, it borders on self-parody.
I'll stick with Phaedra, Zeit, Ricochet and Stratosfear - even Cyclone, but not this. This screams of the loathsome New Age music that had yet to come.
one of the best part of the title force majeur (after the old vapor train as pass...part 2) really one of their best tune I believe. Can put you in a trance, without any other substance help, and I really like this old analog sounds and string machines better then most of the new cold without life. And this theme is wonderful with peace, its lightning us, video fits very well. thanks
Tangerine Dream, when electronica music really made you different, no techno clubs or raves. You were called new age. Music of the future. Now you go to any club, and its electro dance. This early music started it all. Might sound retro, but give TD respect. Amazing what they could do with primitive synths and sequencers at the time.
Sounds nothing at all like actual medieval music. There seems to be some influence from the Romantic era, though, and a little bit from Classical & Baroque periods. But mostly from a more modern period.
30 years old, but just beautiful, this was the start of modern electronica/industrial and electro/dark music and techno stuff. And though done with synths, they needed to sequence the tapes and stuff, which made recording just as difficult as a live performance. Now one person with a computer can run mutli synths and virtual drum machines on a virtual sequencer. It took alot of work to make music like this with the tech in the 70's. As you still worked with tapes, and not RAM data from a HD.
@DeanMeredithMusic yeah bro, lay in bed, lights off, music in the headphones, smoking a joint, a hot teen polishing the knob, praying to satan.....that's what its all about.
