I don't know where you get your information from, but you are absolutely dead wrong about this. Although there are session players throughout the record, they are there in addition to the band members. The track in particular has every member of the band playing with, I believe, only one additional keyboard player.

there is a music video from the same time frame by the same director which helps explain the video in some respects. as for the real meaning of the song that is more of a personal image made in your own mind when you listen to this song or see the video.  as a teenager at the time this group was popular it brings back memories of the discovery of first love and the tragic tenuous and fleeting memory of such love that is often remembered with regret and fondness. yet, it makes you stronger inside

yes youre right. We listened to this song during high school in Manila. This is such a very core thing in us 80s kids. This belongs to all those memories made during this song is at its height. I specially remember the night before a track & field tournament where the whole team was quarantined in the school to conserve strength. It was so boring but thanks to a blaring radio next building to this tune. Ahh...those nights.

I LOVE the feeling this song gives me. I used to always listen to The Motels as a child, and I heard this song for the first time a few years ago, and it brought back so many memories of my child-hood (well being 12)in 1984. I still get teary-eyed listening to it; I really miss those days, that feeling will never go leave me.
