Yeah, the 2010/2011 model received some major upgrade. Still, I think the interior still better than my civic when I sit on a BS6 cab back in my hometown. Which is in China.
To the two who commented, they should be making cars of today... today.
They copy fucking everything, there is no reason they can't pull apart a BMW 7 series and go "Ok, this is why it's safe" and implement 10% of those measures then pull a "safe" rating at every testing center in the world.
I own a small cheap european made hatchback from the 90s and it still runs fine and is in good condition even after 12-13 years my major problem with chinese cars is that the build quality, materials and workman ship is so bad the life span of chinese cars is around 2-4 years probably lucky to get 60k miles at best and then its scrap
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not convinced this is the production car. Chinese are the least trustworthy people on earth. They may have made this car just for testing, and the real one is dangerous. This car probably has lead paint, dangerous toxic materials in the passenger compartment. This is China we're talking about.
It's amazing how much Brilliance progressed from the horrific BS6 (in which the passenger compartment was essentially smashed in and the airbags were strictly nominal) to the decent BS4 (comparable to other recent (if not new) small cars from Europe, Japan, and Korea) in such a short period of time. The ADAC's prejudice against Chinese cars shows when it gives the BS4 the same lowest rating as the BS6 when the BS4 is a lot better/comparable to others.
@ps4fyzix Problem in that respect is that the ADAC also reckons that every car should be fitted with ESP and more than just 4 airbags. Also, there were other problems like leaking power steering.. on a new car. They took all of these things into account when they ranked it but they also said that the BS4 was a huge improvement over the BS6. Fact, though, is, that the BS4 was still not really near to where the standards are. I don't see prejudices here, they'd be stupid if they did that.
I know Japan is rich and I never deny. but ur country is totally a watchdog of USA, u wanna deny the reality? u r still using our characters(漢字),how pathetic is it? Japan lived under the glory of China for thousands of years, and we will surpass u again for sure.
Exactly; Japan is rich now largely thanks to the USA, for their huge capital injection to revive the Japanese economy after the war, and for buying Japanese exports.
Of course this also turned Japan into US's bitch in Asia.
It is not meaningless. It is a better indicator than nominal GDP since it considers more factors. You can survive with $5 a day in China but not in Japan. Besides, satisfaction with life is higher in China than in Japan. What is your money worth if you are dissatisfied with life?
That must be why suicide rates are so high in Japan. Nobody wants to live in that sh!thole.
And your numbers are wrong anyways. It's not $2000, it's much higher than that.
what you said has nothing to do with car but anyway you're wrong in some way, if u r talking about gdp per capita by IMF then certainly singapore in number one in asia, japan gdp per capita in 2007 was only hovering around $34000 even much lower than in britain of $46000. Hong Kong's living standard is quite comparable to that of Japan, Taiwan and Korea more or less have the same living standard though.
Four years ago the Chinese delivered cars from the seventies. This BS4 now has the technology of the late nineties. They cought up 20 years in just 4 years and the BS4 is not the latest model from Brilliance - the BS4 was shown first time in 2007. The BS2 is the latest Brilliance model.
Everybody with a brain knows where the'll be in 2012.
In 2018 they probably totally dominate the world automobile market.
@laloona87: They say in the video that the results are OK but not brilliant - pun intended! Also, Brilliance's price advantage over European makes has shrunk significantly. In other words: the more the Chinese catch up with European quality, safety and technological standards, the more expensive their cars become, and that process is unavoidable, Apart from all other things, European and Japanese car makers aren't fools who just stand by and wait for the Chinese to take over their markets.
@laloona87 probably in your wildest dreams.... chinese people can only copy technology. they cant invent something new! they never did in there whole history!
Please go to the Euro NCAP site and watch the latest achievement of the great chinese auto industry.
Admire the great score of 2 stars that the Landfart ........ I mean Landwind CV9 2010 achieved.
Surely they cought up with the germans especially.
Not that they only compete now for production rating but rather for quality with other manufacturers. I mean for them making T-shirts or cars is the same thing.
P.S. The cameras they use in their crash tests are also Chinese?
It is sad that people would impersonate another group of people just to stoke argument, if you are a korean or a jaoanese , why not just put the real country, why need to put other country...sigh.....hopeless.
It's sad that in this day and age racist bs like this is still posted around. Laotian my ass. You are a bitter Jap. And the Chinese are going to own you to oblivion.
slowly??! I don't call 0 stars to 3 in 79 days slow. And I don't think achieveing this result in just less than a year from the last crash test is slow.
If they could go from 0 stars to 3 in 79 days that asks a question in my mind as to why the Chinese didnt aim for 3 in the first place, it was clearly not that hard if they could do so in 79 days!
It was 2 stars for the first BS6 test, and both star denied by ADAC as humiliation. A common practice for evaluator consider the car performance bad. Later Brilliance hire a Spain engineering firm to improve the design to get a 3 stars (but looks like 4 for me, at least the A pillar did no collapse like the 3 stars 98 A4 did)
Wrong and wrong, NCAP did not get overhauled between 1997 and 2009. I have been keep a close eye on their regulation since 2001. Korean indeed looks terrible on a computer screen.
But in case you can't read; you aren't missing much. It's just a troll shouting racial slurs. It's a shame for Korean people to be represented by people like this guy.
According to ADAC, the evaluation is 3 star front impact, 4 star side impact; 3 star child safety. Theoretical 3 star overall, but no ESP (electronic stability control) kills the score.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? This has to be done on purpose to damage Brilliance's image.
You r right, BS4 also score 3 star in C-NCAP, that's worse than most other Chinese cars. It's good to see they could built safe car now, the problem is ESP still isnt compulsory in Chinese market.
These ratings are what they would have been if they were taken to the same standards that the BS6 were. In the new, more stringent tests, the BS4 has recieved a zero-star rating.
Shenanigans! This is considerably better than the BS6 as anyone can clearly see. The passenger compartment is pretty much intact after both the front and side impacts.
I went to ADAC's website, and the reason this got the low score is the recent change in crash test standards in their NCAP program a couple months ago. The lack of ESP, speed limiter and seat ball warner (WTF) ruins its score.
This car would've gotten 3 stars by the old standards.
That is bad. The passenger air bag is in a dangerous line of fire - situated so close to the windscreen it smashes it during igniting
