  • Nothing can EVER beat Druss the Deathwalker, maybe a close second would be Beltzer or Nogusta, I love axes over swords so Skillgannon comes after all of the above mentioned :P

  • I picked up the Troy series a year or so ago. Read them thrice over. What an amazing story teller he was. I can't wait to get into the Drenai Series :)

  • Druss the legend, "aye laddie!"

  • David gemmell gives to his readers the same gift. Only those who have read his work - be that only one book, or indeed all of his novels - can know what we experience time and agiain. The lessons and philosophies we learn. The joy and saddness, the love and the codes of honour. he gave us Druss. He gave us Connavar and Grymauch. He gave legends and heroes in a time in such desperate need of them.

  • I love all David Gemmell books. Got most of them in paperback but hope to get them all in hardback eventually. (Just got Fall of Kings...signed copy, off tinternet for £50...woohoo!!!) I love the way he intermingles historical figures into a world of fantasy!

The Troy trilogy are my faves, closely followed by Parmenion battling his way through ancient Greece in the brilliant Lion of Macedon and Dark prince.

  • Argurios, out of all the great characters in David Gemmells books he is the one that i respected and honored the most. When he died a little part of me went with him, in fact I stood up and screamed NOOOO! He is and honorable, bad ass warrior that is quite frankly not be trifled with and he was killed by a cowards weapon. so infuriating.

  • bashed and beaten as he grew up...Expelled from school at 16 for starting a gambling syndicate....arrested numerous times....bashed n beaten as he grew up....bouncer...journalist...writer...LEGEND.

  • I love David Gemell's books, I read them again and again. The last I read was Midnight Falcon. I think that book showed how Bane went from being a young rogue to growing up to become a good man and a great leader.

Druss was my favourite character in his books as he was so powerful yet so noble, his power never corrupted him.

  • Don't forget Dace!

He is the original inner warrior that is like a cool-blooded killing machine

  • @WatchRyder god i loved him lol. (dace) (david gemmel)

  • for me connavaar in sword in the storm is both gemmells best character and its his best book by far the story of young connavaar challenging the bear to save his crippled friend and the death of his wife while he is playing away is awesomely written and slowly connavaar becomes a very dark character the 2nd book midnight falcon is also superbly written. who am i trying to kid i love all gemmells books and all the characters my son is only 20 months old but i cant wait to introduce him to gemmell

  • I was challenged by WH Smiths to 'Get into Gemmell or your money back' The book was Midnight Falcon and I had to leave the store, with the book! Damn! lol

  • Davdi Gemmell writing was so inspirational, he like to give characters noble traits, but also giving them major flaws as well. The storylines sometimes where about the odds, stake up against them, but there was also a glimmer of hope. Druss, Jeruslem Man & Walyander were my favourute themes. Cant belive David is gone, I know it has been several years since his passing, but I often wonder what else the Legend could muster up in is head, with more satisfying storylines, his memory still lives on!

  • my fave Gemmell charactor is Druss the legend. after fighting in Gorbons army to get his wife back he still fights him at skeln pass and beats his army then at 60 he travels to Dros Delnoch to fight the nadire horde. 60 years old riddled with arthuritis and covered in scars and still fights and defends. it takes a champion with poison on his blade to kill him, but he still thought death and walked out to fight with his dying breath. this is a man everyone has to admire. R.I.P David Gemmell

  • The ending to Ravenheart had tears in my eyes. Why did Grymauch have to die!?

Also love Pagans last stand where he kills nine joinings in The King Beyond the Gate. It's so hard to pick out a favourite moment, every one of his books has moments and characters beyond compare.

I'd say my five favourite would be:

Waylander, Jaim Grymauch, Druss(standard to nearly everyones top 5), Chareos, Tenaka Khan.

  • Jon Shannow vs Viruk who would win?

  • @GentlemanJames27

Viruk I think, he was one of the coolest illuminati anti-hero's. A great warrior king, but flawed as we all are.

  • omg its the techno viking

  • i've read all of gemmell's work and own the entire collection. i gotta say Jon Shannow would win any fight 1 on 1, he's untouchable (Rolynd), has stones of power, AND has guns. that doesn't mean he's my favorite! i obviously like Helikaon the most, he appeals to me as an underdog. Viruk, Senta, Druss, CULAIN!, waylander, Tenaka Khan, Talisman, Bane, Laitha, and the rest will all stick with me forever. These characters served as my idols growing up. REST IN PEACE THE GREAT DAVID GEMMELL!

  • no way dudes....sieben the saga poet is the best !!!!!!!!!! he get all the ladies

  • omg very bad qualy! 0 from 5 stars!

  • Also Waylander ftw...

me and my friend always argue who would win in a fight...Druss or Waylander? And I'm sure everyone has their own opinion :)

(I can't remember the name, but didn't Druss meet his equal in combat in hell? Was he a Nadir axeman?)

  • @indigomist Druss has never met his equal. He once fought with himself (his dark side) Its in the Chronicles of Druss i think

  • i think he means oshikai they fought together in hell

  • @PapaFountain you are correct. But i think that the best swordmaster of all is Culain Lach Feragh from Sipstrasi saga.

  • @kecenavrtep Nah he fought his grandfather Bardan in the void.

  • @indigomist I'm gonna have to agree with you there. Waylander is like a mix of a younger Clint Eastwood with an older Logan/Wolverine/James Howlett. Waylander FTW!

  • RIP my friend...

  • I'm sorry but Viruk in echoes of the great song is the best character of them all. druss and skilgannon are badass, I've read every single gemmell book and its true. that and dace in dark moon. viruk is both incredibly insane and evil and yet glorious and pure at the same time. GEMMELL IS THE BEST

  • Parmenion! best character in all the books hands down

  • I think ive found a mistake in shield of thunder, ak sure kassanda was 13 at the start of the book n halfway thru when its 3 years later shes 14... Am i correct?? Still best author of all tjme tho

  • @apsinthion no thats in shield of thunder but it skips to the battle of thraki and hekabe is dead is the beginning of the book she 14 but the second part she older

  • now thats what you call high definition!

  • David Gemmell, the greatest fantasy author who ever lived. Ive read the whole Drenai series and i'm now half way through the Troy series and loving it.:D

  • Read rigante....

  • wers the music from? any idea

  • Requiem For A Dream

  • skilgannon all the way is the most bad ass character there is

  • Hell yes man, he is cool as fuck.

  • as Druss would say-

    in your dreams laddie!!

  • best character? that is tough as he writes all his characters so well. the big men like Druss, Karnak, Grymauch etc are lovable and fun to read, but it is the darker more flawed heroes that really make his books, the tale of waylander was phenominal, as was parmenion and Skilgannon. best book? Hero in the shadows! truly a masterpiece

funny, sad, heroic, tragic, and a true tale of redemption wihout revealing too much.

second would have to be the epic frist chronicles of druss the legend.

  • Top Gemmell character has to be Skilgannon!

Best moments?...so many spring to mind but a couple moments involving Bison and Jaim Grymauch that i wont give away for those who havnt read them yet are definitely up there with the emotional bits. Stavut being made leader of the Joining pack is awesome. And there are too many incredible fight scenes to pick from.

David Gemmell was THE fantasy writer.

  • @TheJohnnyMacD most memorable scene for me was in "Sword in the Storm" (not my favorite but still loved) The prologue where King Connavar (Demonblade) was outnumbered and old when a group of assassins were going to kill him, the little boy watching in the woods, the sunset silhouettes, and Connavar says "Come then traitors. I am here, and i am alone" still sends me fucking shivers!! RIP D.G.

  • David Gemmell is amazing!! One of the amazing authors that nobodys really heard of. Half way through dark prince. The way he does battle

Scenes is beyond me, they seem so real, like in Legend and the defence of Dros Delnoch

  • Damn that movie was awsome

  • thank you DG, simply, legend

  • One of my favourite Druss moments was in 'White Wolf'. He walks into a tavern crowded with enemy soldiers. They fall silent, staring, and Druss says to them: "I am Druss..." He hammers his axe into a tabletop. "...and this is Death."

  • Druss is a Legend, nothing more to say....

but as for me all Gemmell's characters are great, especially Skilgannon (my love...)... and I'm soo like Jianna ;p

  • Someone must bring Waylander back to life, the greatest hero in the history of fiction makes Achilles look like a girl, Clint Eastwood look gay, the coolest, hardest greatest, i love Waylander. . . .

  • Think we see something in all his heroes that we wish was part of our own lives Me i simply hope when i die i am reborn in the land of the drenai !! we can only hope!

  • The best of Gemmell that I've read yet, is in Lion of Macedon with Parmenion.

Parmenion is an incredible character and his story captured me from the start of the book.

  • agreed... fantastic book

  • David Gemmell was my favorite author, he had a great talent. My favorite book is "White Wolf"

  • David is the reason i got into writing, though i will never be as good as he was :)

  • My favourite Book by David was his first, Legend. I read it when i was 12 and i actually built myself a model of what i thought dros delnoch looked like :L i couldnt fit all the walla but i enjoyed my self :) I have around 10 of his books but want to read them all! Hi five to anyone else who's favourite is Legend (Y) And Thank you to Stella for finishing Fall of kings, it was an incredible thing to do :)

  • terrible quality!

    As for David Gemmell

I treasure each and every one of his books.

  • Ahhh...Dear Druss! A hero of heros!!!!

  • I agree with Kraenan and KendalIMjones, I have almost all of his work, I am in the process of oerdering some of his books that are harder to find, but there really is too many great moments.... everyones comments are exactly right, and his work is legendary and forever cherished by his faithful.... I am very narrow minded in this respect... I can't really read much else... I have discovered a new author with the same feel though his name is Conn Iggulden check him out, he is a huge Gemmell fan.

  • all of his books were moving and each was as precious as the last, for me thou gotta be storm rider midnight falcon line..... the world has lost a true master of his craft

  • omg this is the 3rd vid with this song! :@

BUT, i love D. Gemmel and i pay my respects

    RIP GEMMEL!

  • there are just way too many favorite moments in his books.

In The Swords of Night and Day, when Skilgannon and Decado fight. Skilgannon asking Decado why he didn't kill him when he had a few openings.

To Echoes of the Great Song, when Viruk had a broken leg and was at the mercy of another. He had his same ol' arrogance and swagger.

Quest for lost heros when Finn went and got Magrig from the Nadir camp.

King Beyond the Gate when Decado fought his inner deamons and died with The Thirty

  • I have read all books over and over again. My favorite scene must bee the end of Deathwalker, when Talisman becomes ulric, I get goose bumps every time. May you rest in peace David Gemmell you will be missed.

  • The ending to Hero in the shadows was the best part of the Waylander trilogy for me. Waylander forever.

  • hell yes, i love that ending. it can never be more perfect.. i wanted to see more of that Rajnee in action though...

  • the books based around druss were the best for me.

  • For me "Knights of Dark Renown" spoke to me most loudly and most personally.

The men and women in it were flawed, fallible and yet very unlikely heroes who still found it within themselves to stand and do the right think when finally put to the test, when all that was left in the world to challenge the darkness were their flickering, inconstant and yet indomitable spirits.

David Gemmell was a great writer.

    I shall miss him.

  • I have to say with Gemmell its either Legend or the Rigante series for me

I love all of his books ! RIP!

  • Drenaï, all I love is in these books...

  • Aye laddie, I just love every book, their all so hard to put down, and im amazed at how discriptive they are, its like he lived in that era. Bloody amazing. But my fave is Waylander, when i read it i was hooked.

RIP David Gemmell aka Ross Harding

P.S. I wish he did a book concerning the twins, if he did can someone reply and let me know.

  • he didn't but i'm damn sure it would have been oen of the upcoming drenai epics...

  • sorry im afraid he never got to do on about the twins though it would have been incredible because its akso at the time when the order of the thirty were wiped out. look for some of his interviews before his death. his next book was going to be about constantine, the roman emperor. i miss him greatly.

  • just finished sword in the storm onto midnight falcon can't wait to get stuck in to legend after

  • the Sword In the storm saved my life,

i have since then read every single one of his books.

This truly was the 'Fall of Kings,'

    rest in peace

  • @ruathain646 sword in the storm the greatest book ever written mate

  • come on you whore sons deathwalker awaits. legend is such a great book

  • it is isnt it i love the rigante series

  • Comment removed

  • Out of the all the books David Gemmell has written, his Troy series were the absolute BEST!

    Argurios is my favourite.

  • as my name says R.I.P DG.

I still get chocked every time I finish one of his books, not only because how sad they are but because I have come that much closer to never having the joy of David Gemmell books.

  • ditto there bro... ditto...

  • I am proud too be GREEK......

  • how do i join this group?

  • sweet, so Troy fight scenes were inspired by Gemmell? That's awesome. I'm into LOTR, but I'll check his works out. Thanks. I found this by looking up 300 killimanjaro, but cool how life leads you places!

  • you have to look down there and say to yourselves there are fifty swordsmen down there for me and one by one by all the gods ill cut them down

  • just something thats been on my mind...ive read all of davids work apart from his crime novel under the pen name ross harding. just wondering if anyone has found another author whose work is as impressing.....i have found conn iggulden to be very descriptive as gemmell though for davids style of characters, battling and humour ive found simon scarrow keeps me smiling.just a thought...still miss the big man and feel empty when i go to my local waterstones and theres nothing new anymore from him.

  • Try Robert Fabian - very good military SF. Or Pratchette, very funny.....Robert. E. Howard is very ipresive too...

  • FUCKING why did he have to die. I read all these comments and come to tears in knowledge of the fact there will be no more masterpieces. Least there are a few books i havnt read yet. R.I.F.P DAVID

  • @Darkdestronova

I think David Gemmell was a great author who was also switched on to how brutal and corrupt the rulers of today are and reflected that to show in his books.

He can be seen as a torch-bearer of Anti-NWO literature.

I'm sure he died before his time and had many more books in him when he died.

  • "I have chosen my name, I shall be Ulric of the Wolfshead." FUCK YEA TALISMAN FOR THE WIN, nearly as good as Decado the ice killer.

  • "once i was a sheep amoung many, then the wolves came and i became an eagle soaring far above the wolves and sheep." . " and then you became a killer of sheep" asked dardalion. "No," laughed Waylander, "Noone pays for sheep."

  • skilgannon the damned is the best with the swords of night and day.

  • when will they make a troy out of his books? ahhh.

  • I just finished the Troy series and they are beyond great. Ye Bonakles in my opion after the death of Red was the greatest fighter, I would easily put him up against Achillies and Hektor. Achillies was afraid of loosing and all ways had to be the best and Hektor despised fighting and had no lust for it. but Bonakles was in a fighting mind a genuise in the heat of battle. And I have come to a David book that has not nearly bought me to tears

  • i personally preferred his earlier works like waylander and the legend of deathwalker. but there is not a single gemmell book i wouldn't read again. r.i.p David gemmell

  • Where is your group at? How do I find it? Thanks!

  • Have you noticed how all of his books are connected! Through the Source, the Daniel stones, and the men and women from Atlantis!

  • his books, all except the troy series are, in my opinion, post apocalyptic, where humanity resets and some power (nuclear?) is what he refers to as the source or the stones. He hints at it in almost every book.

  • anyone know the song name in this vid? If so could you message me it.

  • it's the main theme of "requiem for a dream"

  • The reason achilles was such a great warrior was because he did not fear death he was always calm and felt no emotion in battle that is why he always won he never let anything get in the way of his fights not even love (until the end) and if ya ask me he shouldnt of died that way he was shot down by that candy ass prince who wouldnt even honorably accept death when he lost he was a coward and never should of chose to fought love does not make you a stronger person but it does make you happy

  • I loved the ending and the whole climax. It was so amazing. Banocles standing in the doorway, protecting the wounded Polydoros and the women. Kalliades bidding farewell to him. Both fighting in the streets and the titanic duel between Hector and Achilles. It was totally awesome. The "Fall of Kings" was definitely the best book I ever read, I liked it even more than the books about Druss the Deathwalker. Mr Gemmell was a person everyone will really miss. My heart lies in his work.

  • have spent 2 hours reviewing all of the comments from everyone and have come to the the conclusion that each and everyone of mr gemmells characters is worthy of walking with in the mountains, but to spend a half hour with the great man himself would surely have constituted walking with a GOD!

  • should probably have said that all works by said GOD! have been devoured by this desciple!

  • The Rigante series is my favourite. Brilliant.

  • R.I.P David Gemmell my fav author of all time.

My fav quote: "poets are like politicans, they talk like lions but live like weasels"

A sad day when i finished the troy trilogy.

  • i have been a gemmell fan for years and years! i have all his books, some even in the original hardback editions. i think his best creation was Waylander, the sheer tragedy of his life, and his constant fight for self redemption, even when his deadly ways are called in to service again is magnificent. my favourite battle? dros delnoch. such pathos! saddest moment? ruathains death, followed by waylanders second chance of happiness at the end of hero in the shadows. i miss you David Gemmell!

  • Troy series, Spyros and Xander FTW!!!! Also like Zidantas.

  • david gemmell (r.i.p) is the best author n skilgannon would have to be his best character

  • I love David Gemmell. I worship David Gemmell. =D

    I love Argurios. ^^

And his Troy series started my obsession with the Trojan war. I knew nothing about it before I read the books... I'm going to Turkey next year, to hang around the ruins.

Fall of Kings was amazing. It's my absolute favorite book... ever.

  • Banokles is my all-time favorite out of all of his books.

  • I've only read a handful of Gemmell's books (my dad has all of them, but I'm pacing myself in reading them), Dark Moon, Echoes of a Great Song, and every book in the stones of power series and I would say so far my favorite book(s) were Dark Moon and the Jon Shannow trilogy.

  • winter warriors or legend defidently, go druss! RIP david

  • fav book-lord of the silver bow

    fav character-Parmenion

fav battle- end battle in stormrider

fav moment- when parmenion finds derae on her death bed... so sad.

  • oh yeah

    fav series- rigante

  • Im just reading shield of thunder. I think im in love with andromache :)

  • My fav book by him is Dark Moon. Great characters, especially Tarantio/Dace the split personality/posessed swordsman. I wonder if he could take Decado?

  • I love david Gemmell. Alot of his books would be great as movies. I 've just begun reading the rigante series, and finished Ghost king last night, which was pretty good as well.

He is exceptional with creating character's.

    Go david!!!! rip

  • i think the perfect series if gemmell books to be done would be the rigante books of connavaar and his son bane the bastard. the first movie would be all about connavaar and his rise and the follow up movie about his son bane in the arena before returning home to fight in the end battle the end scenes between connavaar and bane would be quality in a movie. plus the part when connavaar fights the bear and then slains the village after his wife is murdered would be awesome

  • I would LOVE To see Druss defending Dros delnoch or Skilgannon Facing decado, even Waylander on the big screen.. But I wouldnt be able to stand bastard critics slamming the movie... Even if it would be brilliant

  • RIP my teacher...

  • Wait for it... Brad Pitt as Skilgannon and The Rock (with a beard) as a young druss! Ha. I dont think anyone on screen could match the on paper magic that were those heroes in our imagination... I loved Druss, couldn't get enough of Skilgannon, then just when it couldn't get any better, Bane the Bastard comes along... legends all!

  • This is not Gemmell. Stop this!

  • my favorite characters are the gay archers! they were so sweet!!!

    thanks david for all!

  • I love the rigante series, i also loved the TROY series

  • I think Rigante are slightly better than the Drenai series but both are awesome

  • my fave moment is when its banokles holding off the corridor he died a king !

    well done david !!!!

  • What's the music?

  • david is the best author out there - not as good as pratchet but thats my opinion - i hope they make the troy series into a film, i loved the twist in Book 3 about the trojan horse cuz i was sorta thinkin along the same lines.

  • I love Gemmell just as much as everyone else seems to in these comments - but personally I don't want there to be any films made... Would kinda ruin the magic of it all...

    Anyone else think that?

  • unless peter jackson made it

  • I'd personally love to see "Legend" as a movie. I think if a true fan made it he/she might do it justice. Who would be Druss though?

  • lenny mc lean- the guv'nor, would've been a great older druss, were he alive.

  • the gladiator from gladiator, maybe, or mel gibson

  • Gemmell's books shook the foundation of my life. He is the greatest author i have ever read and will live on in the memories of each and everyone one of his readers. Legend is and always will be my favorite book. My favorite part of the Legend was at the very end of druss when he lies dying before about 20 guys the one messanger that he told he was going to kill starts to taunt him. Druss threw snaga right in to his head and said something along the lines of "You need to learn to talk less."

  • after reading Robert E howard for years I read Legend as a teenager and felt like been hit with a litterary (is that right?) sledgehammer, the reality of a siege, the characters all totally blew me away! I read and re-read every book of his (and still do). I`ll miss him. my favourite character is Dace, he was mental! Does anyone know of a simmilar (not sure about that either) style author. I`ll need to find someone else to read now.

  • hugh jackman like he was in van helsing was how i imafgined waylander hes a bad ass character! Drenai was my favourite saga and i read it all the time but Banakoles from Troy is probably my favourite charater he always made me laugh message me if anyone wants to chat bout gemmell think that would be gid =)

  • A young Brendan Gleason would have made a great Banokles.

  • I love David Gemmel, his work blew me away. I was 18 when I read Legend and I read it every few years to remind me what a hero is.

I see Legend as a modern day Ivanhoe.

    the mvies will be made.

  • Respect to David!

  • a truly amazing author. gotta love Druss he rules, eventually it wouldn't surprise me if the books were turned into films

  • I think his best book was Stormrider. The conversations between the apocothary and the Modairt about his paintings were amazing. I think it would make a great movie.

  • If it were made into a movie I think Alan Rickman would make a great Moidart.

  • jet li has to be chiatze...and jackie chan would make a great ditch digger from hero in the shadows. think tiny lister could do a great nogusta.

edward norton for serbitar of the thirty and djsimon housoun to be pagan.

  • Don't know who Tiny Lister is but your bang on the money with the rest. Someone else said Christian Bale as Waylander. Ideal

  • good vid, the movie was good too. although who ever directed the fights should be shot. hector fights like an imbecile just before he dies, wtf!?

  • I loved the scene in "King Beyond The Gate" when decado is fighting the templar lord who has psionic abilities and such (ie. he can read your mind), the templar lord believes he can beat Decado in sword play as he knows his every move - but even tho he can do that he is not quick enough to defend himself, Decado is the fastest swordsman alive. So in effect the Templar Lord see's the blow that kills him in advance, but is powerless to deflect it. Awesome =)

  • my favourite moment was when the last scene in Winter Warriors where Nogusta and Antikas Karios save the day and Nogusta dies.:DD

  • My favourite scence is in 'Wolf in the Shadows' Angel say's the the words "Time to die my boys" ... in one of my battered copies i got David Gemmell to write this on the inside cover.

Can't name a favourite book i have read and reread them all And although some authors of the same genre sate my appetite for heroic fantasy, they lack the spellbinding words that Gemmell casts on all his readers.

David Gemmell i raise my glass of Lentrian Red to you !

  • can i plz have some Lentrian Red? i ran out :( hehe. Gemmell was an awesome writer i want a movie made out of his books!

  • Dont you guys imagine Druss to be Huuuge, at least in breadth of shoulders and just presence wise. Theres no way connery could pull it off. Whoeverit was would have to not just be massive but to appear massive. It would be best with brand new actors and not the famous guys now cos noone would fit properly

  • the rigante series ROCK!!!

  • Sean Connery as Druss. Jet Li as Skilgannon. Djimon Hounsou as Nogusta. Heath Ledger (if he were still alive) as Stormrider. Stanley Tucci as Dardalion. Christian Bale as Waylander. Johnny Depp as Jarek Mace. Russell Wong as Ulric. Swizz Beats as the Moidart. Jackie Chan (aged) as Tenaka Khan.

  • I'd go with Jet Li as Tenaka Khan he could show the deep emotions better than Chan. But they would be great together in Hero In The Shadows, Chan as the ditch digger. Christian Bale would be an ideal Waylander and you could grey him up for the older version.

  • Ohh i really like Jackie Chan as Yu Yu Liang for that one... Maybe Ken Watanabe as Kysumu?

I think Sean Connery for old Waylander, though Christian Bale would rule for the young one.

My fav series by him would have to be the Rigante, though, especially the last two. Man oh man were the characters engaging

  • Ken Watanabe's too tall to be Kysumu. Hiroyuki Sanada would have been more suited to be Kysumu..

agrees with jackie chan and christian bale.

i bet brad pitt can be one of the main chars too i believe. look at how he moves in Troy!

  • his books pwn

  • It's gotta be Donnie Yen for Skilgannon, Gerad Butler as the younger Druss and Sean Connery as the older Druss. I can't stand this condensed version of the story of Troy though, they made Hector out to be rubbish! And why is Achilles fighting like a Shaolin Monk? I'm so glad the Mongol movie wasn't Hollywood, I'm getting tired of the 'all-star-cast' movies with no substance...

  • cant rmeber which book in jon shannow one.

shannow faces thius ulimate gunslinger by creeping up on him...

    gun slinger calls him coward

jon shannow tells the man to dtraw his gun...

and say on the count of three we both fire...

    3

2 and the gunslinegr cast away his gun

1 bang... the gunsluinger lies on the floor...

  • so, people around the world with the same taste of fantasy than i have. please recommend books in gemmellstyle with not perfect heros and their dark sides.

  • i personally think that morningstar and knights of dark renown were among his best books and i have them all.the whole circle of time theory was so deeply thought out and that would be the film i,d love to see.yes morningstar, the flawed hero.

  • Knights of Dark Renown was very good too. Just halfway through Morningstar now, like all Gemmell books its excellent, but flawed hero is an understaement lol, he's a badass if ever there was.

  • i agree but his conscience got the better of him in the end and he came good

  • Just coming to the end of it now, great twist, one of the best I've seen.

  • This Sounds odd but if sylvester stallone let his hair gray and grew a beard he may be able to pull off the whole old druss thing but Sylvester would have to hide his new yorker accent

  • I don't know if I would agree with Stallone as any gemmell character. I find him seriously lacking in any charisma. Theres a guy in the movie The 13th Warrior. Big older warrior with blonde beard and plaits. Grey the hair and he would look more like you would expect Druss to look. Combine with the acting skills of someone like Richard Harris or Ian McKellan and you got your guy. Given Oliver Reeds performance in Gladiator its a shame he died. Buffed up he would have been ideal.

  • I agree with most of it but druss never was charismatic but for Jianna(White Wolf,Swords of night and day)angelina jolee might be able to do it but skilgannon would be a bitch to find someone who looks close

  • We'll have to beg to differ there my friend. I find Druss very charasmatic, larger than life, full of wise words, yet perhaps a little cynical. I would agree with Angelina Jolie as Jianna. But also Monica Belluci should be considered, as for Skilgannon? It would need to be someone broody and an excellent martial artist. If only Mark Dacascus were a better actor.Wait a moment, I think I have it, but he's not an accomplished martial artist...Eric Bana. What say u?

  • The look may not be too accurate but Mark Wahlberg(? I think i spelled his name correctly) may be able to pull off skilgannon for his intimidation and haunted looks. but i have an excellent actor in mind for druss Stellan Skarsgard(King Arthur, Beowulf 2003)just dye his hair black and you would have an excellent actor for Druss

For Jon Shannow christian bale may be able to pull it off. Now I'm wondering what actor(s could successfully pull off Owen Odell or even Daniel Cade

  • i think sean connery would make an excellent owen odell as an old narrator.
