Patrick Stewart did one a while back that I wasn't particularly fond of.

It just didn't have the atmosphere of the old Gregory Peck version.

it was a little too light - almost comical in places - like Captain Picard was knowingly winking into the camera. I don't remember it having the foreboding doldrums scene either.

But Peck really sold that character to me as one austere and pissed off dude.

I nearly shat when he was wailing on that whale - dated effects be damned.
