You were mentioning earlier not to spam, which I fully agree. So how do you approach these certain channels about sharing your work without coming off as a spammer.
i really dont like the term ftw for some reason but since you mentioned evernote im gonna have to say it.. EVERNOTE FTW!
i use it in the same way as yourself. i never got around to it but had an idea of adding tags to a note after recording something on the geetar or whatever, like what key its in, what fret the capo was on etc, chord progressions used maybe, cos its way too easy to jott down some idea in evernote, after a while you end up thousands of notes and its a bit of a mare to sort out!
Please read! I am now sitting on my room and trying to find a guitar which is perfect for metal like Megadeth, Metallica etc... Do you have any tips for me what to buy then ? I would really appreciate that :-)
If you know any Marshall amps which doesn't cost very much, that would be great! But I accept all kinds of amps :-)
I just wanted you to know that although I'm not a music producer (though a I do find it very interesting) I still found this video extremely helpful. I look forward to your work in 2012!
Thanks for your insights Dave, you really are sharing a lot of what you know. I'm amused with the idea of using keyword research for inspiration and in turn, exposure.
I've also always been a little bit at odds with the music I make and its availability especially when I hear people say "if you're good at something, never do it for free", that kind of goes against why I make music.. though when you're poor, it can play with your mind. Either way, I have always made my music free.
Great videos, I think these two are targeted toward people already in the thick of producing or something similar. For myself I have no idea how to start off (i plan on asking on your forums :) ) but I think your advice is useful for anybody at any stage of their plans. Keep the videos coming!
Tutorials are excellent, but I'm trying to be more comfortable with synths and learn more about synthesis, but am extremely frustrated because none of my custom synth patches sound any good. Have any tips?
Very good set of videos. really motivated me to get moving on youtube. I had one video that got thousands of views and i really need to capitalize on that. here's to hopes that i get good enough for a collaboration in the future with you. cheers
Another important thing imo: even if becoming successful in music making is your dream, don't think that your subs on YT or how many people like you on Facebook or how many followers you have on Twitter or Soundcloud is the most important thing in the world, because it's not! I see many DJs who seem to think that these numbers mean everything and it's the topic of most posts they make, which is sad and mostly annoying, cause it creates distance.
This is some good advice. I'm gonna go & make a bunch of my songs downloadable for free now. I'd be interested in doing a collaboration on something, at some point, if you'd be interested ^_^
thanks SO much for this. I'm in a band and i used to have a solo project, i've been thinking of starting it up again and this has REALLY opened up my eyes. Cheers man!
@ImUnlikeAnyOther well, it's spelt djent, but it's not so much a genre as a guitar picking technique :) a big band would be Periphery, just listen to anything by them and you'll find out what it is :)
