Objectively, this goal is way better than van Basten's one. But van Basten was the best striker in the world back then and scored his goal during the final of a European Championship, so it will stick incomparably better in everyone's memory, just as Altintop's goal has been elected because he is a European star and Hallenius is not. It's very unfair, but it is how it is.

An absolute beauty!!! There is only one (major) difference with the goal of Marco van Basten. Marco received the ball from long distance an took it out of the air with one volley. That is extremely hard to do. That's what made that goal very special. The other aspect is of course the fact that it was scored in the finals of a European Championship.

The person who uploaded this video suggests that this goal might be "better" than Marco van Basten's goal. In terms of exceptional and perfect it is not, because kicking a ball that you receive over a distance of 35 meters is something totally different. If you watch the videos of the MvB goal, that's exactly what the commentators refer to. :)

Because Ibra, Ola Toivonen, Johan Elmander, Marcus Berg, Markus Rosenberg and Alexander Gerndt are all better, more experienced strikers. (Gerndt needs to move to a bigger league BTW...)

No offense to Hallenius, he has potential (you can see it by this goal if anything), but he needs to start delivering in a better league then the Swedish second division to take a place.

När man jämför van Bastens volleyträff med denna får man dock tänka till lite...Marco van basten slår ju till på en lång crossboll..så att prata om att han "bara" gör volleyträffen medan Hallenius gör flera sekvenser är ju lite fel. Då det krävs lite mer när bollbanan är längre.
