the only reason ppl know about this rifle is becoz its in cod its not the "best ever sniper rifle" its a good rifle that does things right but far from the best
@Qgdnf hey jackass, I have never played call of duty. I have known this gun, and shot it on a couple occasions. So you shut the fuck up. You seem to know more about it being in COD huh?
@Iiilyana LOL, so have you compare this rifle with some other well known sniper rilfe exist in the World? If not, youre the one who shut the fuck up. I have tried this and an AWM rilfe and still cant find the best one from both yet
the .408 round is not a patch on the .50bmg, it lacks power (in comparison) plus i think most people would prefer to use a .338, it is easier to handle, a smaller round so not as heavy to carry, thus a heavier gun isnt needed and the recoil isnt as heavy...
@frechproff thats again one of the better .50bmg rounds then compare it with m2 ball ammo beyond 1 mile
though i give you that in the end the .408cheytac isnt such a miracle of a round(the rifles are not getting that much lighter when shooting that round and shit like the 750 grain hornady a-max exists(owning .408ct in almost anny way)
@13thmistral the only benefit the .408 has over the .50 is it stays in flight longer before becoming transonic. solution to this, put a 600gr round on the .50 and up the powder charge and use a faster burning powder.
either way, i wouldn't buy either of them, i'd much rather stick with something smaller like a 6.5-284norma, .308, 6.5x47 or something like that, they will all group better at 1000 yards, don't kick like a bull elephant and a hell of a lot cheaper to feed lol
@13thmistral well i have 1400 yards near me. so a .308 loaded right through a 32" barrel will still be super sonic (just) so that is all i need. yeah a .338 would be fun but the range doesn't let you shoot them there =/
the australian army is currently assesing a shot earlier this year taken in afgh in the vicinity of 4km with a 338 lap by an aussie sniper,the kill was confirmed and verified but as it was a "downhill" shot the distance may not be comparable to a flat kill.
@0780marco I use to be a cod skid, and i wanted to join the military, but they don't take people with breathing disorders. :\\\ I wanted to be the guy who just saves my mens asses from an IED from across the land. I guess that wont happen unless the military requirement policies change :\\
@TheHEADonWHEELS That depends on what you're doing. The .408 is most definitely not better for anti-materiel usage and the comment that it does more damage past 800 yards is ludicrous. A Mk 211 .50 round will do a hell of a lot more damage to anything than any .408 round. Engaging man sized targets at the ranges where this bullet comes into it's own is a dubious proposition and the .408 round isn't well suited for anti-materiel application.
Just stop typing, you don't know what you're talking about. Can the TRG-42 shoot 1 MOA at 2000m? I don't believe that it can, it didn't fair particularly well in USSOCOM's PSR trials. Furthermore, the TRG 42 chambers the far smaller .300 Winchester Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum. It's a solid system, but it doesn't have the extreme range capability than the EDM Waverunner *cough* CheyTac M200 has.
The Windrunner by EDM ARMS is the best all round long range PSR. And that's exactly what this gun is. Cheytac never produced these rifles. They didn't even invent this rifle. They just had EDM chamber there rifle for a necked down 505 Gibbs. You can buy this gun for $6000 directly from EDM ARMS. Save yourself $5000 for that little hand held IPOD.
Why does everyone think this is "the best in the world"? Im sure half the world didnt know this existed until Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. People could debate whether or not this is "the best" or not...
@KWGPaintVeins: you dick. dont talk about milatary weapons when you dont know anything about them. the M200 .408 Cheytac Intervention is the best bolt-action sniper rifle in the world beacuse of the simple reason, its the closest to a .50 cal without reducing the accuracy. beacuse .50 cals {like the M82A1 Barratt} are not as accurate as say a .338 lapua magnum L115A3 bolt action.
@BritMarine101 Actually, the .416 has a better ballistic coefficient than the .408, greater muzzle energy, and stays supersonic out to 400 yards longer than the .408 Cheytac. There is no 'best sniper rifle in the world'; the best rifle is one that fits the purpose of the user.
In your opinion it is the best, you prefer damage over accuracy, however, the L115A3 bolt. is far more accurate and other people will like that more. It's all opinion and cannot be said as it cannot be proven by the whole world.
@balla32636 Where did you get that? The .408 has much less kinetic energy than the .50 BMG, at 0-1000 yards. The .50 BMG only starts to lose its superior kinetic energy at range, when it becomes subsonic.
@GeneralSchultz Ermm well no, having been in thee trade for some years I always and mean always go for a lighter weapon, lighter means more ammo, less weight and also means less tiredness after a long insertion
try carrying a barret or a 50. cal sniper rifle up a 50+ miles hill. a long range big caliber weapon is never as leight as a m40 or dragunov and so on...
oh sry sheriff if iam not an texas redneck who bought alot of guns and tested everyone of them or if i never was in any kind of military opertion and used them but what do you think would soldiers say to which weapon is heavier? a M82 or a Cheytac M200? a .408 or a .50? stop flaming
@GeneralSchultz mate i'm Australian an live in Australia i'm not some redneck American as for your question .408 an .50 are rounds not firearms and the m82 an m200 are the same weight 30lbs which are very heavy rifle some thing i wont want to carry but if i had to carry a long range rifle it would be a DTA-SRS chambered in .338 lapua btw in ballistic performance a .338 will out do a .408 or .50 any day but i'm sure being 16yo an a cod-bf fool you know all about rifle ballistics
@Montyfiable Your in Canada don't pretend you know Australia firearms law yes we can have .338, .408, an .50s in Australia i also own a rem 700 in .338 lapua an i have shot deer from over 1500Ms so i know some thing about long range shooting an if you truly thing a .50 will out-preform a .338 your an idiot and another cod loser that knows nothing about real firearms
@shadow2155 In Austrailia you can't own any guns that look tactical, which rules out most .338, .408, and .50 rifles. i am sure you have, lol. It is physically impossible for a .338 to outperform a .50, end of conversation.
@shadow2155 Wow, how did you come to tat conclusion? From this conversation, one would most likely interpret you as the "dumbass", not me. Have fun being a subject in Australia.
@Montyfiable how did i come to that conclusion well you seem to know nothing about long range rifles or the calibers, nothing about Australia or our laws an you're Canadian making you slightly less of a complete and utter fuck-wit then you're American neighbors
@shadow2155 According to you I know nothing about long range rifles or calibers because I disagree with you. I do in fact know that you can't important tactical looking firearms into Australia, even f they meet all regulations. I am proud to be Canadian, we are very different then our American brethren. Remember, Canada and Australia are both British colonies.
@Montyfiable fine if you think you're then so be it i couldn't really give a dam an as i stated earlier you know nothing about Australian firearms law we are not prohibited from importing "tactical" firearms how ever semi-autos are highly restricted becoz some guy shot 35 ppl with a semi put an you can import with the right licensing an paper work oh and America was-is a British colony to but they fucked them self's over with that useless constitution
@shadow2155 How is the constitution useless? It protects their rights, as does Canada's Bill of Rights. This is something your nation refuses to do. Additionally, the correct word is "and", not "an".
@Montyfiable do you really believe Americans have free rights like the right to free speech if ya say some thing "terrorist" related the American gov has the right to imprison you how about the right to bear arms 25k+ ppl die in America each year from gun related deaths, America also the right to invade other countries why becoz their "threatening" the American way of life or how the American gov chooses to spend more money of there military then there schools or heath care
@shadow2155 What does the right to bear arms have to do with gun related deaths? Also I don't think any country would last very long not taking terrorist threats seriously.
@YamahaR683 becoz guns are out of control in America if ya don't believe that your a bigger fool then the other guy an most country's to take "terrorist" threats seriously but in America with there new laws they have full legal right to arrest you an your family an any one you know for suspected "terrorist" activity key word there suspected an that law isn't some made up thing its a true fact that your gov put into place
@shadow2155 One, why would an innocent person ever say any terrorist related? The gun deaths are because of the drug war, which is out of control. Russia's murder rate is five times that of America, they just don't use guns. How does governmental funding have to deal with freedom. They have a right to remove a tyrannical government, you don't.
@Montyfiable there gov has full power to impression you for any reason an clams its "terrorist" related the gov tryed to sensor the net with there sopa bill, gov also makes it populous so paranoid they build survival bunkers under there homes that's there freedom an i didnt know ppl living in clay home in the middle east are a major threat to world peace, gov military funding or health care or schools for its ppl, America choose military over any thing else ya dont find that wrong
@shadow2155 Please, try to spell correctly and write coherently, it is difficult to understand you. SOPA was designed to stop piracy and copy right infringement, it was written poorly though and thus would ruin the internet. I am not defending the Iraq invasion, but I need to correct you. They invaded Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction, not the little insignificant terrorists. You have to be one of the least intelligent people I have conversed with in a while.
@Montyfiable its the internet no one cares about spelling an SOPA was designed to stop piracy my fucking ass it was really designed to keep the American ppl ignorant FACT just like fox news an the Iraq invasion happened 20 years ago an there still in the middle east and will be there for the next 10 years its all about power, oil an money another fact open your fucking eyes an see the gov for what it really is a corrupt only there to benefit them self's
@Montyfiable i should reply to that comment with some thing to prove you wrong but i couldn't really give a dam what you think or what skills i have to perform such tasks the fact of the matter is you're an insufferable ignorant fool
@Montyfiable so the war in the middle east isn't about oil, money or power, fox news don't try to keeps its watch's ignorant, ya can be impressed for suspected terrorist activity in America and the American gov choose to put more money to there military then there health care or schools you're saying none of that stuff are facts
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx , In 2009, the longest kill was 2,475 m (2,707 yd). I dont know wetehr it has been beaten yet, but at the moment, without bullets that can compensate for bullet drop, loss of speed through air resistence, ... , it is practicly inpossible to kill someone out of pure skill over such a range. At that kind of distence, the actual tempraturelayers the bullet goes through, have an effect on its trajectory, so i think that for the moment, with modern technology it is impossible.
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx Says who? The longest sniper kill on record is around the 2,500m mark and was accomplished with an AI Arctic Warfare Magnum chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. There have been some rumors that someone in the US Army has beaten this record slightly, but nothing near 4.2km. This rifle shoots 1MOA out to 2000M, even if it were able to sustain that to 4200m, that's still 42" of dispersion without taking wind into account.
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx Also, the .408CT is supersonic out to around 2800m. Once a bullet goes subsonic, accuracy takes a nose dive do to aerodynamic effects. That's why the maximum effective ranges of most rifle rounds are the distance where they can be expected to sustain supersonic flight. Again, that 4200m claim is highly implausible.
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx 4200...............The longest shot ever made was made by an brittish sniper and he shot almost 2km with an L96 A1 so i guess you wrote wrong. Am i wrong?
What you're saying is complete nonsense, The longest range recorded for a sniper kill currently stands at 2,475 m (2,707 yd) and was achieved by CoH Craig Harrison, using an Accuracy International L115A3 Long Range Rifle. a sniper from the Household Cavalry of the British Army.
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx the longest killing shot ever made was 2.47KM away (2470m) taken with an AI rifle in .338 lapua mag by a british soldier, prior to that the longest kill shot was taken with a .50bmg macmillian tac 50 by a canadian soldier...

though the rest is (kinda) right
13thmistral 3 months ago
@13thmistral err yes. .408 kicks out about 11j of joules of energy at the muzzle, compared to the 20k of the .50 bmg...
so as i said. in comparison, it is basically half the power of a .50 with no describable advantage over the .50 to make up for it...
frechproff 3 months ago
@frechproff nt anny .50 bmg at anny range
what was it beyond 200m ? a mile ?
i dont know for sure, but not one of the better .50bmg standard rounds will have beyond a sertain range less power then a standard .408ct round

@13thmistral the .50 fire an 800 grain pill... at 20kJ... that will retain power far better than the smaller and less powerful .408...

frechproff 3 months ago
@frechproff i woud say that are some more reason to love the smaller ones more
there is not much use of having a .338lm if thats the maximum range you can get
and if its also forbidden....
and then having cheaper shit thats also accurate enough for those ranges....
yea, not worth to spend like 2 times the money for such a range, even if you where allowed to use it

@shadow2155 What does the right to bear arms have to do with gun related deaths? Also I don't think any country would last very long not taking terrorist threats seriously.
YamahaR683 2 days ago
@YamahaR683 becoz guns are out of control in America if ya don't believe that your a bigger fool then the other guy an most country's to take "terrorist" threats seriously but in America with there new laws they have full legal right to arrest you an your family an any one you know for suspected "terrorist" activity key word there suspected an that law isn't some made up thing its a true fact that your gov put into place
shadow2155 2 days ago
@shadow2155 One, why would an innocent person ever say any terrorist related? The gun deaths are because of the drug war, which is out of control. Russia's murder rate is five times that of America, they just don't use guns. How does governmental funding have to deal with freedom. They have a right to remove a tyrannical government, you don't.
Montyfiable 2 days ago
@Montyfiable there gov has full power to impression you for any reason an clams its "terrorist" related the gov tryed to sensor the net with there sopa bill, gov also makes it populous so paranoid they build survival bunkers under there homes that's there freedom an i didnt know ppl living in clay home in the middle east are a major threat to world peace, gov military funding or health care or schools for its ppl, America choose military over any thing else ya dont find that wrong
shadow2155 2 days ago
@shadow2155 Please, try to spell correctly and write coherently, it is difficult to understand you. SOPA was designed to stop piracy and copy right infringement, it was written poorly though and thus would ruin the internet. I am not defending the Iraq invasion, but I need to correct you. They invaded Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction, not the little insignificant terrorists. You have to be one of the least intelligent people I have conversed with in a while.
Montyfiable 2 days ago
@Montyfiable its the internet no one cares about spelling an SOPA was designed to stop piracy my fucking ass it was really designed to keep the American ppl ignorant FACT just like fox news an the Iraq invasion happened 20 years ago an there still in the middle east and will be there for the next 10 years its all about power, oil an money another fact open your fucking eyes an see the gov for what it really is a corrupt only there to benefit them self's
shadow2155 2 days ago
@shadow2155 (Continued) This leads me to conclude that you could not perform the basic math required for long range shooting.
Montyfiable 2 days ago
@Montyfiable i should reply to that comment with some thing to prove you wrong but i couldn't really give a dam what you think or what skills i have to perform such tasks the fact of the matter is you're an insufferable ignorant fool
shadow2155 2 days ago
@shadow2155 The american people can do something if they begin to hate their government, you can't. END OF STORY!
Montyfiable 2 days ago
@Montyfiable as i stated earlier you're an ignorant fool
shadow2155 2 days ago
@shadow2155 Ignorant how?
Montyfiable 2 days ago
@Montyfiable you refuse to accept facts and other opinions that are not you're own
shadow2155 1 day ago
@shadow2155 Well, for one you are not asserting facts, you re asserting opinions. Secondly, one could say the say the same thing about you.
Montyfiable 1 day ago
@Montyfiable so the war in the middle east isn't about oil, money or power, fox news don't try to keeps its watch's ignorant, ya can be impressed for suspected terrorist activity in America and the American gov choose to put more money to there military then there health care or schools you're saying none of that stuff are facts
shadow2155 1 day ago
@shadow2155 They are facts.
Montyfiable 1 day ago
@Montyfiable ya don't say

dancewithmy1 yeah its a excellent rifle some say the longest kill was over 4200 metres away.
xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx 1 year ago 7
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx , In 2009, the longest kill was 2,475 m (2,707 yd). I dont know wetehr it has been beaten yet, but at the moment, without bullets that can compensate for bullet drop, loss of speed through air resistence, ... , it is practicly inpossible to kill someone out of pure skill over such a range. At that kind of distence, the actual tempraturelayers the bullet goes through, have an effect on its trajectory, so i think that for the moment, with modern technology it is impossible.
JustSomeRandomNewb 1 year ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx 4200m ?
kid, the ones that telled ou taht are idiots

@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx wtf is that for crap ?
4200M ?
those peopel are probably on drugs or have seen a weapon that is clasified for public confirming that kill
13thmistral 10 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx Says who? The longest sniper kill on record is around the 2,500m mark and was accomplished with an AI Arctic Warfare Magnum chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. There have been some rumors that someone in the US Army has beaten this record slightly, but nothing near 4.2km. This rifle shoots 1MOA out to 2000M, even if it were able to sustain that to 4200m, that's still 42" of dispersion without taking wind into account.
Nater245689 6 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx Also, the .408CT is supersonic out to around 2800m. Once a bullet goes subsonic, accuracy takes a nose dive do to aerodynamic effects. That's why the maximum effective ranges of most rifle rounds are the distance where they can be expected to sustain supersonic flight. Again, that 4200m claim is highly implausible.
Nater245689 6 months ago
@Nater245689 wasnt it supersonic till like 2km
13thmistral 6 months ago
@13thmistral That depends.
Nater245689 6 months ago
@Nater245689 yea, but its a quite big diference so, i dont know,
600m diference
must be when the wind is full value and no wind comparisation
13thmistral 6 months ago
@13thmistral 2800m is fundamentally possible, it is not likely. Under any normal conditions, you'd be lucky to get 1900m.
Nater245689 6 months ago
@Nater245689 so 2km is heavy weather ?
13thmistral 6 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx the longest kill ever was from the accuracy international l115a3 then they tac50
MrDip02 6 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx 4200...............The longest shot ever made was made by an brittish sniper and he shot almost 2km with an L96 A1 so i guess you wrote wrong. Am i wrong?
pizzasnail98 5 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx
MegaOllie4 4 months ago
@xGUERILLAxxxWARFAREx the longest killing shot ever made was 2.47KM away (2470m) taken with an AI rifle in .338 lapua mag by a british soldier, prior to that the longest kill shot was taken with a .50bmg macmillian tac 50 by a canadian soldier...
