Why Funimation even picked up this series in the first place? Just because it's illustrated by Ms. Arakawa who created FMA doesn't mean it's equally good. The writer is a Chinese guy, not Ms. Arakawa. Except her iconic artworks, there is no a single touch from Ms. Arakawa's idea in it. I want to watch more Arakawa's works not somebody else's!

It still has nothing on Fullmetal Alchemist though. I started reading for the only reason that Arakawa did it, and the Characters looked similar to Fullmetal.

What I know is that this project is not Arakawa's alone.

Someone else pitched the story or something and she picked it up and drew it.

So far what I see is that...FMA is way more original.

I dunno this Hero Tales ' theme seems a bit overdone.

Wuxia is cool...but even I think it's a bit over done and boring.....

It won't stand out from the rest period....

i love hiromu arakawa. she is the greatest author ever. also, she has a brilliant mind. .... usually authors use certain ideas from their recent books and use them with thier newest creations. if you have ever read her book "stray dog" as well as full metal alchemist, you notice the term 'millitary dog' shows up in both as well as 'dog of the millitary'... another thing is in stray dog, the millitary dogs are both human and dog, sort of like a chemera in FMA. sorry, just had to put that in...

I really enjoyed this series when the 1st fansubs came out a few years ago. Great opening song Winterlong by The Beat Crusaders. Kind of annoying how they chose to use the western name Alkaid over the original eastern name Hagun. I hope they don't do that when this series is dubbed.

@a1c1 I just watched, and it's not like the manga. The manga was better because of a greater sense of character development and it did not rush like it did in the first episode of the anime. Not only that I do not like how they reveal too much of the plot from the outset and the manga is a lot better, i highly suggest anyone who wants to watch this should read the manga and understand where I'm coming from.
