  • Lol I think its funny that nobody has heard of or mentions the SSC Ultimate Areo ( Shelby Super cars) in the mix. This is a super car rated at 1180 hp which is low by the way, has a better 60-0 than the Veron, a better 1320 ft time. Better 0-200 time BY FAR! Better skid pad G's. Yes plural. What are the Europeans afraid of.I'm venting cause because I havent seen a real world test between the two. This is according to what I have researched. kind of an old debate but DAMN IT I want to know. Lol

  • the clock started at the end of the pit and stopped almost at the beginning..

  • Fantastic job GM keep putting the Euro cars were they belong.Behind American cars hahahaha.also keep improving the Caddys to keep stomping the BMWs

  • the starting point 0:21 and the finishing point 7:40 are not the same

  • I bet if they put a huge wing on the ZR1 like the ACR, it would be just as fast as it if not faster.

  • @ATLBraves1992

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but anyone that knows anything about aerodynamics knows that adding downforce (your "wing") will slow the car down, not make it faster.

  • @HiTechOilCo no dude you don't understand, you can buy the same ACR that chrysler ran at nurbergring at a dodge dealership. there's nothing special about the viper they ran at nurbergring

  • Great job Chevrolet! :)

  • Viper just broke the record again... The ACR lapped the ring in 7 minutes and 12 seconds!!! The ACR-X (not street legal) lapped it in 7 minutes and 4 seconds! America for the win!!!!

  • wow short lived record for zr1...LFA is now the fastest production car with Nurburgring lap record of 7:14.

  • @RACISTFAGON Just watched the LFA circuit. mechanical specs of both cars are fairly similar, although the LFA is both slightly lighter and lower powered. The Vette gets to 60 and 1/4 faster. That the LFA laps 5 sec faster is perplexing. 1-2 seconds would makes sense owing to the dual clutch tranny. But where'd the extra 3 seconds come from? Stickier tires? Better suspension set-up? Better weather conditions? Driver eating a good breakfast? Interesting. Other thoughts?

  • great lap time, great looks, great sound, great babe-magnet, and perhaps best of all... it's not a lolnissan

  • Corvette won the 2011 24 Hours of LeMans!!! Results on the race track :)

  • Best video I have ever seen on the Internet.

  • I'm just noticing that this ZR1 has a manual shifter. One could imagine a couple seconds shaved off the lap with a dual clutch tranny.

  • @Jangle2007 What fun would that be? I'd rather work three pedals and a stick than push a button. It is also extremely rewarding once you master the stick on a track. I do agree it may be quicker but this thing putting up this amazing time with a standard 6 speed really shows what this car is capable of. Gotta love it!

  • @bigapple0828 I agree whole-heartedly. Rowing the shifter in a fast car is great fun, and I'm moderately fast at a shift...not professional-racer-fast, but competent. That said, have you driven a dual clutch auto? Where speed of the shift is concerned, there is NO COMPARISON. It's uncanny how fast it is.

On the other hand, some of the most impressive record runs on the 'ring were made with a manual: Viper; Vette, etc.

  • @Jangle2007 Agreed. The technology is amazing for sure. There is no doubting that it is faster than humans are capable of. It's just a lack of fun factor really and makes things almost too easy. Driving becomes more of a motion than a sport with a dual-clutch auto. I respect the technology undoubtedly.

  • Well done, you have great skills and could probably shave a second or two off that time with a little weight reduction if you didn't need those balls of steel! I have done a 7:10 in a Ruf "Yellowbird" with Racing slicks only thing is if i crash i just get up from the couch pull a cold one from the fridge and have another go LOL!

  • Awesome Driving!!!

  • I am impressed, it beat the ACR. Thumbs up Chevrolet. It always had the power but needed just a couple of tweaks. I bet the GT-R fanboys are upset, searching their minds for a rationalization to this injustice.

  • @dobbins2550 im a gtr fan but im not upset at all because the gtr is just a base model car they dont even have a race version of the 2012, for chevy the zr1 is their top of the line model corvette so what if nissan made a nismo gtr?

  • @GamerTagEquiflux

Air gets thin up there. ZR-1 is only 3 secs faster than Z06. The GTR is already very fast and will not be much faster if entirely remade.

  • Excellent. !!!. Thanks for posting.

  • You know, in the big picture, you really have to admire car manufacturers that can make a vehicle with this capability (I'm talking the ZR1, the Z06, GTR, etc) for $100K or less. I mean, I'd love to own a Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari, etc., but for sheer bang-for-the-buck, these lower end performers are really quite astounding.

  • wow no braking at 1:09 , hardcore driver

  • My favorite-I knew Chevy would respond back!Awesome

  • Corvette's response...very nice video. Car performance is unbelievable in the ZR1.

  • Take that Nissan GTR!

  • @conekiller13 I'll go out on a limb and guess that the Nissan folks won't sit still on this. I admire both vehicles, and the competition between the two (or three, if a turbo Z06 ever makes an appearance) pushes the state of the art for all manufacturers. That'sa good thing for all drivers.

  • @Jangle2007 well the Z06 carbon ran a 7:22 at the nurburgring. So that will be 3 I guess

  • Very cool!

  • Wow, what an awesome driver and awesome car!

  • Best time in the world for a production car is held by a vette that costs a little over 100 grand beating the Ferrari Enzo's best time

  • @SandMasta The Enzo Ferrari Enzo model is almost 10 years old..

  • @cashfornothing with an F1 engine, it shouldn't matter how old it is.

  • @cashfornothing 10 years and Ferrari still hasn't built a production car to run on Nurburgring. Every car they've run since the Enzo has been a modified Ferrari race car that would cost an extra $100,000 to build ontop of the car itself. Could you imagine a twin turbo Lingenfelter Z06 on this track? Game over.

  • @SandMasta amen to that brotha amen, best car ever made, fuck the haters lol

  • @SandMasta i think you'll fing the GT2 RS has the better time of 7.18 :)

  • @vertine11 yeah you're right, the GT2 RS beat it by a second, those porsches are awesome. but the viper ACR came back again and they're ahead of everyone right now. be curious to see if porsche responds anytime soon, chevy won't respond until 2013 when they bring out the new model vettes.

  • @SandMasta as much as it kills me to say it the ZR1 is an awesome performance machine as im a big GTR fan but i admire all cars at the end of the day. Nissan wont do another run at nurburgring untill thee finalise the upgrades but i love the competition out there now! For cars like the GTR and ZR1 to be beating all the top supercars is amazing. Healthy compitition between the vette and gtr....i love it. Keonigsegg is the one to have though haha

  • @SandMasta - The Dodge Viper ACR is a specially prepared *race car*, not a regular stock production car like the mighty Chevrolet ZR1 Corvette. :)

  • @HiTechOilCo the ACR is a race car no doubt, but its still a production car that's street legal, so it is fair to compare the two. we had one at our chrysler jeep dodge ram dealership about 6 months ago. the cool thing is that both cars can be found on the show room floor that ran those times. dodge and chevy didnt tamper with them when they recorded their times, unlike nissan. nissan cheated with the GT-R by making adjustments for the track so it had a better time that it deserves.

  • @SandMasta - I personally don't feel that comparing a race car with a street car is a fair comparison.

  • @HiTechOilCo they're both production super cars designed for the track. key difference is the viper doesn't have any electronic safety features like stability control. they're both on the same level of performance

  • @SandMasta - Not when the Dodge Viper ACR is a *race car* and the Chevrolet ZR1 Corvette is a *stock street car*.

  • @SandMasta they are developed for the street. but they also kick butt on the track

  • @SandMasta The best time for street cars is hold by a Porsche 911 GT2 RS with 7:18
