I think the only nations that have a chance to put their flag on Mars are China and India and of the two the most likely is China. Apart from that the only other serious competitor is likely to be an international conglomerate of space industries backed by the international community - hence no flag except a mission flage like in this video. The days where an American government will plant the first flag on another world are in the past.

The truth has been surpressed. The real level of technology is about 10000 years ahead of pulbic technology. Its source is alien. E.g.: space fleet of faster than light capable ships, teleportation to bases on Mars and Moon, outposts on several bodies of this solar systems. This already the case. ESA & NASA plan for leaving earth by 2016, on a way to mars. the trip costs 3000 million euro and takes 6 years. so they will be on mars by 2022. the return is planned for 2030.

Very good video.  I think we'll have at least five supply ships grounded on Mars before the first humans arrive. We might even have robots to do the initial construction. I am also sure the first Mars base will by 90% underground to minimize chances of decompression.
