@Chrissss698 if you're using windows; click the little milk carton in the up-left corner of the milkytracker window. Then select "Preferences..." and select your MIDI input device. Be sure to check both the "Enable MIDI device" and the "Save MIDI settings" before pressing "Ok".
Use multiple patterns or change the length of the pattern. The most common way is to create multiple patterns and arrange them in the playlist editor (the list box in the top left corner).
PS thank you for the .xm files. It'll sure help me get a hang of the program, and I'm trying to learn scales etc. and your melodies and basslines are easy enough for me to practice :D
1. when I load in samples, and use another track, they all use the sample in the 0 spot at the top, I can't get one track to be square, another tri etc.
2. what are the numbers going from left to right, I know the first one must be volume after controlling it, but there's 2 other I'm a little clueless aobut. One seems to adjust the speed or something for those NES sound effects, but really i have no idea lol
1. To assign multiple samples to one instrument, go to instrument edit, select the sample you want and click the notes on the keyboard you want to assign the selected sample to.
2. Check out the "Effect command reference" part of the milkytracker manual.
i cant get key off to work on my linux version of milky. i have seen epople say its a million different keys but i just cant figure it out... any help anyone?
Get milkytracker and use the 0XY command on a square sample. Start with 037 to make a minor chord (three halftones, seven halftones). Experiment with others such as 047 (major chord) or 0CC (whole octaves). Experiment using different samples than only squares. Then, try using the same chord multiple times in quick succession and playing with volume. I like to 40-10-40-30-20-10 a lot, not necessarily with the arpeggios. Sorry for having to push it into 500 chars. If you need more info, pm me ;)
Are you sure you're not accidentally typing 370 or something like that? The first number has to be 0 for arpeggios. If you want, you can show or send me an xm with your approach and I can see what you're doing wrong.
Cool! I like how you used the arpeggios in the back, I can never get arpeggios to sound right. I started experimenting with MilkyTracker about 2 weeks ago, but I've been using trackers since late 2006. I'll see if I upload something to YouTube someday.
Would be nice to be able to download these songs somewhere! I'd up them to The DOS Spirit's sound spirit in a heartbeat for more exposure if you allowed it. Every tune you up is an instant classic!
I am a noob at milky, and I want to know what those rectangles below the notes are and how to put them in. Can somebody explain?

How do you made this? Playing the notes on the pc-keyboard or used a midi-keyboard? I'm trying very hard to get a good melody..
quaddy83 2 years ago
i used a midi keyboard. you could do it with the pc keyboard too, but it takes some time to get used to.

Feel free to download the xm and fit it in 4 channels. I know I could have optimized it a bit, but I don't think I could get it down to 4 channels.
