Allah did not "appoint" them as He would to Prophethoods geneology. e.g. "And their Prophet (Samuel عليه السلام) said to them, "Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you." [2:247]

The others such as Saddam or whoever you want to mention would fall under:

"Have you not considered him (Namrud) who disputed with Ibrahim about his Lord, because Allah had given him the kingdom?" [2:258]"

Also Firaun had a Kingdom.

And Allah says in the Judgement Day, who does the Kingdom belong to now? Therefore Kingdom has been related to "giveth the Kingdom" for Allah is the direct and indirect cause of all that goes on in the World. The matter is since when in History was Allah left out to appoint someone to lead His people? Even if it was not a Prophet, such as King Talut[as], Allah was who appointed Him. So where in history has this bid'ah occured where people elect representatives of God? When did Islam become just about Political Caliphs. Where are ur 12 Imams prophesized by Prophet, all from Quraysh? The first day of propagation Prophet appointed Ali[as] & in Ghadeer.

Read Tafsir of Quran - when a person called it family matter, & didnt believe the appointment in Ghadeer, asking for the punishment of God to strike Him if he was a liar. And so the punishment came. Allah appointed the 1st out of the 12 Imams at Ghadir & thus perfected the Religion by establishing a maintainer of His final Message. Ch70 v1 "AN INQUIRER ASKED for the affliction that is to come..." Hold onto both Quran & Ahlulbayt [33:33]. Please watch pt3 of my Faith Wars series.

[Ali[as] shares blood relation with Last Prophet, & descendant of Ismail, Lady Fatemah is a part of Muhamad, his "blood" daughter -unlike the other Adopted daughters married off to companions, Hassan-Hussein are result offspring of Muhammad[saww]. These 5 confirmed by all.

Dont know how wives came in -no blood relationship with Prophetic lineage, nor Muhammad]

The Prophet has clearly also said in his final farewell ( imagine he didn't think of announcing his Successor from Allah for Islam) Speech that he was leaving behind the Book of Allah and the AhlulBayt -his family, and they will never separate with each other till they meet him in the Pond of Kauthar.

So I conclude with the following:

"O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you; then if you quarrel about anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the last day; this is better and very good in the end." [4:59]
