  • Hello AppleOranges12, Im just wondering if u have a song with name

    ( Guy Mitchell - Alabam ).

Im trying really hard to find that song. It's from Guy Mithell and i really like him.

Please tell me if u have that song :)

  • proper love this song it was played at my grandads funrel, RIP Grandad Your The Best Grandad We all miss you up there tuk tight grandad miss u loads xxxx

  • Hey steady on, with the references to age. I am only 53 but had this record up to just a few years ago. Loved it then and still enjoy it today. So thanks for up-loading it. Nice record. I will have it. Lol. I get a record player with it as well do I. Oh how things change. Years ago we had to buy the record player separate. Now you get one free with the record.

  • Wow, I didn't know they were pressing 78's as late as 1956. I thought all vinyl producers had switched to 45 or 33 by that time.

  • Just magical !!!!!!!

  • Jesus! "Singing the Blues" and "Sea of Heartbreak" are the two songs that remind me of my childhood more than any other songs. Too bad that hearing them make me so damned sad.

  • This song was number one in 1956

  • Con Ray Conniff

  • This is the first song I can remember relating to, and truly loving. I was 5, and made my poor mom play it over and over on that little 45rpm player of ours. And it has never fallen out of my all time top ten favorites. The older I get, the more I find myself being drawn to that era of the early to mid 50's....B.E. (Before Elvis) They evoke such fond memories of a happier and simple time.

  • Great song. I can still picture this song playing on small transistor radios at the beach in Florida in the 50's as a kid.

  • You think this is good---check out Johnny Jake`s CD version of the same & you`ll like it even better. Thanks---I enjoyed it!

  • 78 RPM........pack your bags, we're taking a trip down memory lane

  • Magic song.

  • When I was a kid, this was the first song that got me into music. Still love it. Thanks for sharing it.

  • I got to see Guy Mitchell in person on NBC Comedy Hour about the time this song was popular. He sang and danced and had athletic ability lifting his dancing partner. He was great. This song was always a favorite of mine. It was Country, Rock and Roll and Pop.

  • @weightfeather1 Twins---Not quite. Guy Mitchell, ne Al Cernik, and Ross Martin, ne Martin Rosenblatt, I believe.

  • Guy Mitchell looked in a way like the actor Ross Martin. I first heard this song recorded by Black Oak Arkansas (with Jim "Dandy" Mangrum almost shouting "This is for YOUUUUUUUUU, Jacieeeee!" at song's end) on their eponymous album that was produced by Lee Dorman of iron butterfly. Mr. Mitchell's version almost sounds happy-go-lucky with the whistling, piano and ukelele (?) in the background. I like this, though I hate but understand why so many secular songs are so downbeat in their lyrics.

  • Remembered. Treasured.

  • convert this over to mp3

Oh Rovers, you got me singing the blues :)

  • @elreywotsit Bristol Rovers and City??

  • @paulhadlow Arr.

I can do all the other verses too, if you like.

  • I had this on a 78(on Columbia,American release. All the major companies discontinued 78s in 1958,but a few smaller companies, such as King continued to make them for a year or two more.

  • This is a 78? Really? The first tune I ever heard on the Arvin clock radio my parents gave me for my birthday (1960) was this tune... I thought it was contemporary at the time, as I recall hearing it with some frequency... Were people still buying '78's in 1960? In 1956?

  • @tuxguys 78's were manufactured by most record companies until the end of 1958.

  • I'm almost embarrassed that I didn't know that till this moment. Thanks for the info.

  • @straightarrow123

  • Ive never felt more like singing the blues

when Everton win and Liverpool lose

oh Everton, you've got me singin' the blues!

  • Guy Mithell had a hit with a song called "Rockabilly", which funnily enough wasn't a rockabilly song, it was more like a pop rock tune. This one, "Singing the Blues", was originally recorded by Marty Robbins.

  • The whistling and piano add such charm to this song. This is the version that I remember first. He had a fine voice on this record.

  • My Grandad saw him on stage as pissed as a fart in Hoxton NE London in the 50's, but he sang brillianty, even though he was pissed

  • Rip that 78 to your hard drive while it's still in good shape and pack the record away. Great song, and nice way of presenting a classic audio file to the videocentric YouTube audience.

  • Anybody got a digital version, something remastered?

Meanwhile, thanks for posting this great oldie!

    It's a classic.

  • Fantastic.

  • One of my all time favourites!

  • Guy Mitchell was a gifted singer. He had to be. Look

who his competition was when this song was recorded,

back in 1956: Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and the daddy

    of 'em all...E-L-V-I-S ! ! ! !

  • This song is absolutely magically wonderfully and truly incredibly fantastic!

  • My father thought that Guy Mitchell was stuck on himself. I told my father that if he were as good looking as Mitchell was, he'd be stuck on himself too.
