I just need to know one thing, I've just now at this moment have been thinking of downloading this title but for one reason, I need a peaceful game thats addicting but not frustratingly hard. You see I've been playing the Donkey Kong Country trilogy lately and am currently playing the thrid DKC game but the later levels really frustrate the heck out of Me and I get so mad at the later stages and their bonus stages sometimes that I'll work Myself up into a panic attack *2bcont.*
*Continued* that I'll work Myself up into a panic attack with My head and eyes feeling weird and feel like I'm going to faint, so I need to know if Harvest Moon 64 is a good peaceful game I can download off the Virtual Console when I'm having a tough time with the DKC games and am really angry and upset with it and need something relaxing and peaceful yet still adictive to play, so is Harvest Moon 64 a good game to download and play to cool Myself and My rage down when I need a break *2bcont.*

Random fact you can get karen up to full heart on this game just by showing her your dog over and over. Doesn't take that long but just keep showing it to her over and over and over and her heart goes up.
You also need to give NPC's that arent women gifts so you make friends to get the best ending. Which the ending is so miniscule you wont really care. They will just say "he's popular" or "he's this or that" it isnt like the ending changes at all really...

Nice review but you got quite a few things wrong. First, the fence is made so you can keep your livestock together and not have them wander all over the farm. Second, you mentioned that you can "give girls items for a year and not know they don't like it". That's not true, when you give them somethign they dont like, they make it very clear. Third, the game NEVER ends like you say it does. I'm on year 30 (I loved this game as a kid) and I can continue forever. Nice review anyway.

The fence keeps wild animals out of your field, and you can create areas for your animals to graze, the notion that it's meant to keep plants out is absurd. Plants have roots, they can go underneath your fence. Common sense really.
In my opinion, the 3D thing isn't THAT huge a deal, but what does get a bit annoying at times is the countless typos in the dialogue and descriptions. Hell, Natsume mispells its own name on the title screen! Still, this is probably the most amazing, nostalgic games I own. I may keep my N64 'till the day I die if only to play Harvest Moon 64 every once in a while. Absolutely wonderful.

You sir obviously don't get the concept of 3D design. It is not 3D because a 3D game environment allows you to move freely not in a designated path which obviously is what the guy is saying. Even though in your perspective you think it's 3D because of the objects and sprites it's not. A real 3D game has a 3D environment which i just said above.
You're making the same mistake. The ability to move freely has nothing to do with 3d, it has to do with overall game design, and the programmer's code desicions. A real 3d environment doesnt mean anything, because, for example, game design dictates that you can only have discreet movement (90 degree turns and take one tile steps)
And just so you know - i'm a 3d artist who is working in game developing.
This is my favorite game of all time. Only, I don't own it. I was psyched when I read about it in Nintendo Power (having never played Harvest Moon SNES or the awful GB incarnation) When it came out, no store in my city stocked it. Now my only option is EBay.

The game doesn't end though. If you meet the requirements on year 3, the game does go on forever. :P Also, can't people just go online to find out the likes/dislikes of a girl or use their common sense to figure out if a girl is a baker she probably likes sweets or if a girl is a farmer she probably likes farm products. :P

Back to Nature was the best one of em all! 64 was awesome but there are 2 huge problems that back to nature fixed that makes it better.
1. A day in 64 is way to fucking short, BTN its really long

I spent countless of hours playing this game back when it was first released and I don't regret a moment of it.

I thought it was disappointing that you mocked this excellent game after pointing out only several of its true, good points. Give the technology a break, it was made in 1998, and is a great game, regardless of the technology and graphics.

Great review. Harvest Moon is not only one of my Harvest Moon favorites, but also one of my favorite N64 games.

Emulators themselves aren't illegal. Now the roms you download to run on them - that depends ... freeware stuff's ok. Licensed games - that's another story.

Only pain in the ass of this game was that the days went by way way way too fast. Harvest moon: Back to nature was the best one out of the whole series. U cant get ANY better then that one. Awesome game!

This game is truly amazing, but it gets really frustrating if you're working towards a "perfect" file. It's too hard to get the girls' hearts up to pink by certain deadlines, even with the music boxes. Meh. Yet I will still play the game nonstop. XD

You sir obviously don't get the concept of 3D design. It is not 3D because a 3D game environment allows you to move freely not in a designated path which obviously is what the guy is saying. Even though in your perspective you think it's 3D because of the objects and sprites it's not. A real 3D game has a 3D environment which i just said above.

You're making the same mistake. The ability to move freely has nothing to do with 3d, it has to do with overall game design, and the programmer's code desicions. A real 3d environment doesnt mean anything, because, for example, game design dictates that you can only have discreet movement (90 degree turns and take one tile steps)
And just so you know - i'm a 3d artist who is working in game developing.

This is my favorite game of all time. Only, I don't own it. I was psyched when I read about it in Nintendo Power (having never played Harvest Moon SNES or the awful GB incarnation) When it came out, no store in my city stocked it. Now my only option is EBay.
Oh, and he's eating rice balls at the end bit there, but you must have already known that.

This game is actually excellent. Don't let this guy, who clearly suffers from STD, fool you into thinking otherwise.
The only main flaw is that after you get married and have a child, there is virtually nothing new to do.

The game doesn't end though. If you meet the requirements on year 3, the game does go on forever. :P Also, can't people just go online to find out the likes/dislikes of a girl or use their common sense to figure out if a girl is a baker she probably likes sweets or if a girl is a farmer she probably likes farm products. :P
