Right to bear arms and freedom of speach are not being closed off all at once. If you do some research though you will find instances over the past year where Americans were forced to hand over thier guns OUT OF THIER HOMES at gun point "for thier own safety." I would say that only protects criminals when you leave someone defenseless. People have also been "detained," knocked down, and had tear gas thrown at them at peaceful rallies.

Cops are NOT lawmakers! Cops are there to keep the peace and are bound by the laws of our society as it is! We have rights and cops cannot take away our rights. Cops cannot make laws or change our rights! If we are peaceful in our arrest then they have to follow procedure.
