You know? This is the song that plays in your heart whenever you love a woman..... I've been married for almost 30 years and this song plays in my heart for Linda.... Although she says to me, "Enough with the Moulin Rouge, you faggot!" I'm all like it's THE LOVE and she's all like "get to work....."
@lizzybb4ever yes pretending to love someone for money is wrong but Satine didn't lead the Duke on , the Duke knew what he was getting into since the beginning. In the beginning of the movie Satine is strictly told by her boss that the Duke will fund them if he gets one night with her. So the Duke is using his money to buy her ..isn't that worst?
@xannia1 She actually did lead him on. Watch the movie again and pay attention to details. True once he realized that she didn't give two shits about him and only cared about Christian he should have left well enough alone... but you know how people with money feel like they're entitled to everything.
@communiqation Are you kidding? He loved her so much... But he was convinced that she didn't love her because of what had happened with the Duke. He loved her and took care of her. Others just wanted her for sex, but he truly and deeply loved her for who she was. You must not know what true love is. What would you do if you were Christian and you were convinced that Satine didn't love you after all that you had been through? They loved each other, but Christian had to try to let go of her...
@lizzybb4ever What would you do if you were the Duke, and Satine TOLD you she loved you "Its a little bit funny..." then took you for a LOT of money, and sniveled that she wanted to be with the kid....oh then sang about it onstage to further embarrass you. If I were Christian I would have REFUSED to sneak around like he did in the first place. Its not honorable. Sex for money I can understand. But pretending to love someone for money is wrong. You don't do that to people.
@lollipopfop Christian couldn't help it that they had fallen in love. It was an accident. Sometimes you really can't help who you fall for. Satine was "paid to make men believe what they want to believe". That was part of her job. Christian was the only person that she actually felt the same way for.

Christian is a despicable character. He treats Satine in the most horrible ways. Especially in this scene, before she started singing.
