  • trent reznor is an asshole

  • Peter Murphy has an amazing voice and covers many things well. From Bauhaus covering Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" to this The Normal cover. Nice range and diversity.

  • How do I get a copy of this CD? I MUST HAVE IT!

  • feel the steering wheel

    feel the steering wheel

  • Well I need to go change mai pantehs :3

  • I could climax to this song.

  • @TheAlyssaCocaine Marry me?

  • @noir0001 - Haha ooo, sure. Why not? ;]

  • Pretty cool...but nothing can replace the original. Good job Trent & gang. I think it's time I made my own version.

  • F-ing love this

  • Is it bad that I have a boner right now?

  • @crazyrockdevil No. No it is not.

  • goosebumps...

  • This is one of the most amazing things I've heard in ages!!!!

  • cannot stop watching this. what a voice. what a sound.

  • Trent on Juice!!!

  • genius

  • THIS IS THE BEST RE-DO OF A SONG EVER!!!!

  • This song remindes me of the early 90's when I used to go to WaxTrax records (Chicago) as a young teen.

I think of Pankow when I hear this. Its funny Im still a big fan of Peter, Trent, and Pankow. How cool!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • @derek1969able This version is a cover. The orignal is from 1978 by "The Normal" a.k.a. Daniel Miller. It was the B-side of a single, "T.V.O.D".

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4:09 - Lucky bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THank you KROQ. If not for your weirdness, I would have never known this strange and lovely original...

  • That's Right.

  • Absolut großartig.

  • sweet fuzzy guitar tone

  • Cool effort, but I think I prefer Miller's flat delivery to this one.

  • peter ,trent ,jeo together, fabulous :)

  • Good stuff,...love it!!!

  • love peter murphy and trent and boys on this

  • Aticuss Ross is alot younger than I thought he would be

  • 4 what it's worth: your comments are brilliant. somehow that adds 2 the music.

  • Left out a line, but holy crap, this is an AMAZING cover to a great song. Beats that Duran Duran abortion. The Grace Jones version is...well...Grace Jones (what else can one say). And should be applauded on its own merits for sonic/lyric juxtaposition.

  • Pure sonic brilliance. Beethoven would be impressed.

  • Wasn't that Bela Lugosi in there too? Don't see the credit.

  • @jedrin Peter Murphy from the band Bauhaus which recorded Bela Lugosi's Dead is listed in the credits, if that's what you mean.

  • @stormc1nd3r Peter Murphy sounds like Bela Lugosi. I didn't realize that he was the singer of Bauhaus when I commented. I like Peter Murphy’s' voice; he is great to watch on stage on some of the live concert vids, comfortable looking, a nice change from the normal spectacle. for all those comments that criticize it is entertainment I think your get way out of proportion about music and sports, Get a life then kick it for some entertainment after actually doing something. Watching shoud be fun.

  • @jedrin I agree. YouTube comments are a cancerous tumor in the brain of the internet.

At any rate, I like Peter Murphy too. I hope he puts out more material soon.

  • @MushroomBluex LIKE AN ANIMALLLLLLL

  • @70finster The car owner didn't bother to buy new windows.

  • the fly got the best seat in the house,

  • two thumbs up! great video!!!!

  • @glhitw I dunno I think its pretty good for just effing around in a room together whilst touring....its jus a cover, it won't compare to the original

  • What happened to the breaking glass... in the underpass?

  • do you mean john fox ?? ultrafoxx he has the metal beat.

  • Respond to this video... peter is the man, trent wishes he was him. but the real deal is ian curtus.

  • With all due respect for both, Murphy and Reznor, this is the most obvious choice they could have done. And it sounds so mediocre (actually, near comical), despite all of the overblown mindfuck synths. Everyone seems to be doing 'Warm Leatherette' these days... I still find Grace Jones' version made at the right moment and with far greater personal touch to the original.

  • TEMA BIEN HECHO, AUTENTICO ELECTRO

  • Okay, this was badass!

  • aber sowas von GEIL ! 100 Daumen hoch!

  • @PLURadelphia

Thank you for noticing, you are too kind sir.

Can you push that button for the nurse, please.

    Ahhh, thanks. (resuming oxygen)

  • WHERE CAN I BUY THIS..?!?!?!

  • This song would have been a hell of alot better if they had Henry Rollins Belting out the lyrics. I do love the music and that effect on the guitar is one to have. Hold on, this handbrake is penetrating my thigh. Here come the paramedics, I gotta go...

  • @mrbug825

WHAT A FUKN RETARD, YOU ARE

  • ANYONE KNOW THE GUITAR EFFECT???????????

  • I'm not the only one who laughed through the entire song, right? I mean, come on.... 2:50 ?

  • @jldella99 - you just don't get it. maybe one day. right now just cork it.

  • @omagine fuck off. I can think something's funny if I damn well please. People don't have to 'cork it' just because their opinion isn't the same as yours.

  • @jldella99 whatever. you're just an ass. that's your prerogative.

  • @omagine at least I don't try and belittle someone for thinking something is funny. That sounds more like someone being 'an ass'. what the fuck do you care if I thought it was funny? we're in america, or at least I am.

  • @jldella99 - and you thinking it's funny isn't belittling the artist? why don't you just go listen to music you DO appreciate, and leave us alone. If your brother or sister was doing what they do and someone started pointing and laughing at them, you'd speak up too. Like i said, being an ass is your prerogative. But that doesn't make it make sense. The American right to personal expression is one thing. Being insulting and rude when you don't even need to be there is just childish and lame.

  • @omagine I hadn't thought of it that way, but I see what you mean. I have a lot of musician friends and I've always loved NIN. My comment wasn't meant to insult someone as a musician. I just thought there were parts that cracked me up. By saying that, I don't mean that any of those musicians are to be mocked or belittled. That's why I couldn't understand why you were so offended.

  • @jldella99 well Peter Murphy is one of those guys who's vocal style is sometimes an acquired taste. It's another one of those "you had to be there" things with music. On my own reflection, i think it's very possible that if i hadn't already been extremely familiar with and partial to Murphy's voice, I may have found some humor. Reznor gave it an amazing update without changing it's tone or mood. I know mostly musicians, too. Thanks for finding my point and forgiving my heavy hand. Rock on. :)

  • @omagine yeah, I think in the future I'll lay off the f-bombs until I know what's going on. I didn't exactly invite rational discussion.

  • @jldella99 Haha. Well, you're not alone in that kinda of slip-up. It's been a long hard road for me trying to learn when it's right to speak and not to speak, and be mindful of my thoughts and words. I'll return the f-bomb now: That cover FUCKING KILLED. :)

  • Best cover of this already excellent song... period.

  • man, those are some lucky bastards that got to witness this show live

  • hmmm lyrics sound a bit like vocal warmup

  • I'm High and this video's 4:20 mins long =)))

  • @lifedeath08

    hahahaha! Good observation!

  • Wickeeeeeeeeed !!!!!

  • thiz guuud

  • they should do an album 2gether..

  • I would love to be the fly in that room.

  • FUCK THE CHIEF * I SHOT JOHN WAYNE * DOUPLE PEACE ** GREAT VIDEO !!!

  • NFW! I am lucky to know what this is! Thank you!

  • this may sound kind of petty... but why does Trent Reznor cut his hair short now?

  • @NinJavaisDotAnoobLOL This is total speculation but more than likely (and this is from a guy's perspective with long hair) his long hair would get in his way when he worked out so he shaved it. Then again it may just be his preference.

  • @Narzath1 yeah I thought of that.. but there are easy ways to fix that. crap dude Idc what happens I'm not ever going to have short hair for the rest of my fucking life. Fortunately we don't lose our hair in my family. lol

  • @NinJavaisDotAnoobLOL Trent Reznor in a hair bun? hahahahahaha

  • @NinJavaisDotAnoobLOL - Trent did something that all intelligent people do... he grew the hell up.

  • @S4BIO so you have something against long hair i take it? I have long hair and it doesn't get in my way.. I use this thing called a "hair tie". If you equate cutting your hair with growing up you got problems.

  • thank you lord for the normal for writing this little jingle

  • Capitol stuff.

  • PANKOW!

  • @TheYogtzeConspiracy the pankow version is my favourite by far.

  • nice..

  • Amazing Cover. The original came out before everyone had electronics in their hand while driving. This version totally brings it up to date. I picture the driver texting the last "e" in "Warm Leatherette" at the moment of the crash.

  • Has to be the best version of this song. Better even than the original The Normal version.

  • *lick*

  • what a cool session, really cool of trent to play "band member" to peter. respect..

  • If you look closely, you'll notice that Trent is wearing shorts. Shorts. Not very goth, is it, my young goth friends...?

  • @fortysixyou what does nin have to do with goth anyway?

  • more concentrated

  • i prefer the original

  • Anybody know what Jeordie's using to get that tone out of his guitar? I think I could have a lot of fun with that sound. :-)

  • Give me the leatherette!! Give it to me, give it to me. Please, please I want to feel the warm, warm, warm. Oh, Oh OOOOOOHHHHHH!

  • baddddddasssss

  • I'd love them to do TV OD sometime but dayumn, this is BRILLIANT!!

  • Covering Grace! Fucking BRILLIANT!!

  • @pang5 That's covering The Normal not Grace Jones. Grace Jones covered The Normal. This is the same arrangement of The Normal and is not original or amazing in any respect. Maybe when The Normal did it way back in 1978.

  • @DrChubby And TV OD would have been...

  • Makes me want to get in the car and take a drive....

  • FUK'N LOVE THIS SONG...TRENT REZNOR IS A FUKN MUSICAL GENIUS...

  • If my entire lifespan was spent as a fly on the wall in this room I would consider it a life well spent.

  • @blubuddha13 It's funny you say that, because at about 1:13 a fly crosses the room

  • @blubuddha13 Excellent comment lol

  • @blubuddha13, nicely said.

  • @blubuddha13 hahahaahaha!great

  • @blubuddha13 There actually is a fly in the room. You can see it at about 0:35 behind Peter Murphy's head. Maybe it's you in your next life :-)

  • It would be amazing to be a fly on the wall in this studio.

  • I frigging love this version! OMG! :D

  • The lyrics sounds funny and dont fit, it needs to be disroted Skinny Puppy vocals...

  • Grace Jones <33333333333333333

  • I've listened to this at least a dozen times now and.... WOW. This is beyond magnificent. I really must have this recording!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Not surprising that this is by far the best version of this song ever done. Sonically speaking, everything Trent Reznor touches turns to gold.

  • holy crap.. impressive cover..

  • bah, since PM appeared in Twilight something died inside me, I still admire him and respect him, but...somehow it is not the same

  • Brilliant cover. I never thought I'd hear anyone cover this 'un. Sweet.

  • @lyrksalot It's been covered a number of times, most significantly by Grace Jones.

  • Simply amazing. I always found this song amusing and went looking for it on here. Lo and behold..finding Peter Murphy and this talented gang singing it..and yes, lucky stiffs in that audience...geez!

  • bloody hell that was FANTASTIC, just stopped going nuts to this, thanks poster

  • Trent Reznor, Jeordie White, Peter Murphy and Atticus Ross

THIS TO GOOD 4 A HUMAN LIKE ME HALELUJA

  • a performance of EPIC PROPORTIONS.

  • I wish Trent would just release a covers album already. He's alluded to it before and I always love his reimaginings. Next to Metal this is probably my favorite.

  • its obvious who the master mind is in this room............

    ALL OF THEM !!!

  • @positivesecret well said

    :)

  • Doesn't even make a pimple on the ass of the original.

  • @CatapultYourMom Angry much? lol, its very similar. just higher fidelity

  • @CatapultYourMom - you've obviously spent far too many of your adult years living in your mother's basement.

  • peter murphy's vocie is scary LOL, and it's the perfect kind of voice for goth, besides he does look like a vampire xD

  • those kids had no ldeal what a classic song this was by The Normal. Or even heard it before

  • The Best version of this song since The Normal. No other cover of The Normal's classic hit has captured the spirit of the song until now. Almost sounds like Devo at their best. This version of Warm Leatherette works. Awesome!

  • BLOK 57 version is so much better.

  • Not a huge fan of Murphy's vocals here, but Trent's voice-synth is scary as hell, and the production is great.

  • @touchandgod Ooooooo. I'm scared! Yikes! Scary!

  • Thank you for posting the videos from this amazing session.

  • What a sick version. I don't care how popular NIN and Trent are, he and his accomplices have made some of the best Industrial and Industrial Rock music ever.

  • @JJheadcharge thats all that should matter. none of these endless wars about who is better.

  • To be honest the camp vocals spoil it for me.

    Love the sound though.

  • this is so fucking awesome

  • trent layered this cover in such a delicious way, I'm starting to, *gasp*, prefer it to Miller's original...

  • This whole jam session was very cool - lots of interesting ideas and interpretations and it was raw and vibrant too. Would be interesting to see further collaboration with this line-up, but I guess if it hasn't happened in the last few years it won't.

  • That fly in there is pretty distracting.

  • Well I don't like most remakes of this song, this one is great, they copied the cool parts but added some new ideas.

  • 2 icons covering an iconic song !!!

  • i just came.... over and over and over

  • this is terrible. NO ONE CAN TOUCH DANIEL MILLER

  • @mbwanzer i heard this cover first and then saw your post on Daniel Miller. i must be honest and say that this cover has harder bass, more detailed synths, and Peter Murphy's voice is way more alive than Miller's. just my opinion though. i don't mean to put down someone that you have much respect for

  • Holy Hell that was fantastic!

  • This song puts you in a trance. I absolutely love it!!!!!!

  • OMG FKN ILL :)

  • incredible!

  • I can see how this song could influence Trent Reznor.

  • Trent has gotten so sexy with age, and what can you say about that genius Peter...It is however to bad there are no recordings from the original by the Normal 1978...

    .com/rcaries07 @ FACEBOOK

  • Trent looks like he is working valves over there but hell yeah,i am 100% for this vid-----wanted:more Trent/Peter stuff

  • i want to shit on my face

  • i wanna be in the audience!

  • @rushgirl1000 that is an absolute fact! and what an awesome collabo to boot....trent, twiggy, atticus...wish i coulda been in that room.

  • bloody luv this !

  • omg!!! soo GREAT !

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!

trent seems to make the BEST music that never makes it to any cd. it was years before i realized Get Down Make Love was a B-Side....I looked for that song forever.

  • please Trent make an EP from this!
