Caught Bowie doing this song at the Forum in Los Angeles back in the '70s...his disco dude days. LOVED the version he did then, with all the dancing and all...This is pretty cool though.
School this chap...Bowie and Lou were all aboutht he same thing...pushin the envelope...In 97 Herion chic was comin onto the scene after 15yrs...this was Bowie bein ironic and payin homage to his american bro Lou reed who wasnt afraid to discuss those "not so nice and tidy" things like goin to cop smack...
its weird, i thought david bowie respected the velvet underground and what they were all about, but this video, to me, suggests that bowie had no respect for VU and even wanted to ruin everything that made VU so unimaginably amazing. i dont know whether to laugh or feel sick inside. maybe both
The original was hard and real, this is poppy crap, even the singing is nicer. BLECH!! and that doo wop crap in the back doesn't help at all. STOP KILLING PUNK ROOTS. Sad to because I love bowie doing bowie

Ummm... he's Bowie. He can pretty much dress as he likes, play what he likes. And it is ALWAYS time well spent listening to Reeves Gabrels.
