I donated $100. I feel good about it. It is not a lot, but I am sure it will buy a few meals for the hungry or blankets for the cold. Thanks god I am able to do something. And despite all the racism and hatred these people will get help they need.
Why are we making fun of HAITIANS? What if that was us? I know you guys would have been begging for help and shelter if you were one of them for a day if i were you don't say anything!
"high profile" giving is nothing more than a self-serving gesture disguised as "charity"---GIVE MUCH--these PPL NEED IT NOW--but dont take out a megaphone directly afterwards and broadcast to the world what an altruistic generous soul you are...ppl can see right through you. Give out of compassion not out of some hidden personal agenda..
Because once again... sad but true... people give charity sometimes to "look good" they can say I gave 100 dollars to Haiti... but to buy a bum on the street a sandwich... or to take in a homeless American mother and her kids... unthinkable because that "looks bad"... who would want to have direct contact with another human being and the realization that due to bad fate or choices he/she could be homeless or poor too... that's just to much for the spoiled rich to deal with....
The very least we can do as humans in a situation like this is feel empathy. Can you imagine the destruction that would occur in your home town if a quake like this hit? And that's not even taking into account the fact that Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world. PS To the blatant bigots spewing hatred and ignorance, do you guys talk to people off of youtube the same way? I doubt it, and if so, where is that tolerated? It's insane...

So, when someone talks about Americans, are they talking about all the people in the continent or just United States? please know the difference! LEARN before you SPEAK.
