Is that the only defence if someone grabs your hand and wist the thumb wrist and pressure point, To do a flashy flip and a brake fall?. I don't understand the purpose of the flick?. If its to show how great that martial art is than it had no effect. If its intention was to show a girl flipping a guy, well he was helping heaps. or can you get a civilian attacker to flip this well?.
I know this must be a good Martial art and will have a look at more to see whats involved. Like the outfit.
@gothicsolace Alright so his jumping and practicing the getting out method.
If he didn't do this and just layed down in submisson his wrist, arm would be of no use ie broken. Cool. Is that also a pressure point defend? Its hard to tell whats going on if they don't write some basic info. Dose an angry redhead need martial art training. Black belt redhead (deadly) Thanks for the repley.
@Stringyheads "Alright so his jumping and practicing the getting out method." The uke doesn't practice any techniques rather just being an uke. "If he didn't do this and just layed down in submisson his wrist, arm would be of no use ie broken." this would vary from discomfort to flat out broken bones."Dose an angry redhead need martial art training." My dad( 6th Dan) suggested to me with great emphasis to get at least brown belt in judo before Aikido (about 2 years work)
I actually have over 18 years of traditional martial arts experience before I even got into MMA. I followed links via other threads on Youtube to get to this one. I do love all martial arts and try to get something usefull from all of them. Yes, including Aikido. People do practice MA for various reasons. True. But if an art and/or dojo (dojang, kwoon,) claims to teach self defense, than it is important NOT to set people up to get hurt with techniques that would fail them. Ueshiba would agree
This is absolutely silly. Zero practicality. If you want to see a female fighter, look to women like Gina Carano and other mma fighters. Train like them. These aikido techniques would get a woman (or man) killed. No one attacks like this. These guys are attacking in slow motion, telegraphing all moves and actually falling/leaping to the ground when barely touched. This is a disgrace to true budo and dangerous if students actually believe they could fight.
I did see Tomiki. I have several friends who study Aikido. I have observed their practice sessions (one teaches) and was always respectfull. Hey, live and let live. But some techniques can lead to a person being serious injured if attempted against a resisting apponent or violent assailant. Its important for any teacher claiming to teach 'self defense' to do his/her BEST to avoid teachings techniques that could get someone injured.
to the aikido girl, my name is Justin. I am 5'10" feet tall, people say I resemble Steven Segal. I like walks on tatami matts and suishi dinners and tiny girls woopin my a**!!! Pretty Please reply!
to the aikido girl, my name is Aibu. I am 6 feet tall, people say I resemble George Cloony. I like walks on the beach and candlelit dinners and tiny girls woopin my a**!!!Please reply!
well, i agree with the straight back totally and i can´t imagine that any aikido "style" incorporates a bent back since posture is always a key part. Anyway, very nice, i guess this is a kote gaeshi-exercise, would by nice to see other techniques by the same artist (aikidoka)
there's many aikido schools out there, and what is considered correct by one, is a heresy in another. i'm aware of that. anyhow, i think your back should be STRAIGHT when you're doing throws. i don't approve of BOWING (what she does). it's not a stable position; if the opponent was not cooperative, they'd easily drag you down with them.
check for some Christian Tissier's demonstration (there's a number of clips on Youtube) to see what i mean.
She's got very bad posture, overbalanced, leaning over. A recipe for disaster if uke wasn't being so nice.

Great job, very fluid, keep the energy moving.
But I think your Aïte keep his balance when you lift your hands up before the throw, just keep the ma aï and your hands down and it will work well.
I think kotegaeshi is a matter of distance...maybe^^
