To all who keep worrying about the Rangers who died and were wounded, lets also remember the Delta Force Operatives and SOAR pilots, copilots, and Crew Chiefs who lost their lives. This was a horrible event in our nations military history. I hate knowing that 14 good American soldiers died, but we need to think from the perspective of the Somalians as well. We were in their country, killing their people. This should be a lesson to not stick our noses where they dont belong. God Bless The Troops.

The whole idea of US presence in Somalia was flawed. Foreign presence will never be able to prevent them from killing each other, unless that foreign presence takes the form of some sort of colonial or imperial government. That said, unless they want our help, we have no place being there. We have far more important things to deal with at home before we deploy troops for 'peacekeeping'. Peacekeeping is nothing but very heavily armed police work, something our military is NOT trained for.
