The only thing I hate about this anime is that it ended. D:
The music? Fucking amazing. The characters? Awesome. The artwork? Pure scenery porn. The story? Enthralling. How it's presented? Absolutely beautifully. The world created through these mediums is just so incredible that it seems almost tragic that it's just a short-lived fantasy.
yeah when the music played i always thought that it was something like this
"This chapter has run it's course and with its passing a new one unfolds and like the eager readers humanity is we are fully prepared for what it may hold and we will also face its end"
I didn't like Ergo Proxy but the soundtracks were plain awesome. This one is so epic! I need to rewatch and think again and maybe give it more than 2.5 stars
The title here; "Centzon Totochtin", comes from Aztec mythology, and means "four Hundred Rabbits". They're a group of gods who regularly meet for parties and get roaringly drunk.
SPOILER
Given that only three hundred proxies existed, would the extra hundred from this title have some meaning? Something to do with the ark, perhaps? Or maybe there's a hundred of those colonies of cave dwellers. Dang, I'd kill for a second season or movie sequel.
@QwertyTSecond Yeah i've wondering too... I just think of a mistake from them though. That was kind of funny because i never noticed the name of the boat (which is Centzontotochin) and i listened to the OST and was like "my god this song is awesome, what is it called? Centzontotochtin ? sounds nahuatl, let me check in Gary Jennings' Azteca novel that i just finished reading. Oh god, it really is nahuatl" Double awesomeness for Ergo Proxy to take little known mythologies as reference *_*
Shinobistrider, this track sounds in "Ergo Proxy", wonderful cyberpunk/gothic story. Its clean that DeX & ErgoProxy are very similar with their atmospheric and emotional conditions.
Much agreed! Out of all the series I have, I keep going back to this one to watch over and over again. Everything about it is impeccable to its story, to its characters to the music, and the artwork...absolutely stunning
there's this hacking game called Uplink, I always turn this song on when playing that game lol. I dont know why but it just suits the high-tech cyberpunk feel so perfectly! :D
nah, this is no suicide song. More of like a "I'm moving on and stronger than ever"-type of song. Anyway, this song fit the ending of series very well.
well "Gloomy Sunday" has the words. This piece has no words but life, struggle, letting go, death - everything. This music need no words, they are already spoken in every note..
I haven't seen the anime, unfortunately I do not enjoy any of them. However, often the soundtracks for them are pure masterpieces. Therefore in my reply I am expressing the sudden feelings I felt while listening to it. Just to mention, it was a one moment feeling, and right now I "see" the music differently.
and I have found you :)

Ergo Proxy desperately needs a remake with a better ending. Of course, the same could be said of most anime.

If there is one music to suicide while listening, is this music...
djkroo 3 years ago
Lol! The music that caused the most suicides is "Gloomy Sunday". =P

Can't see how this could be related to anything than the opposite of suicide, if you've seen the anime.
