My disappointment is possibly greater than yours. You see I actually played this demo back in 2005-I've said that before on youtube and people didn't believe me, but I have, on a Nintendo tour of the UK. I even played NSMB DS, which was cool because it had all the Mario 64 moves, R made you crouch/slide/groundpound and you could do the cartwheel jump. The levels were very gimmicky, full of pipe cannons.
Back to TP: the enemies seemed more aggressive in the beta and more animate.
What very few people know about TP is the sword moves it used to have in beta. It had sword moves like RE4's A actions. I found these out by dismounting from Epona, fighting moblins on foot, and I found the parry, which had a meaty textual prompt, and the sword stab which is in the game but again, had a meaty textual prompt...the parry was different. And of course shield was usable with R. In Toaru village as it was then known, you could commandeer a little boat! The final game was too easy.
Incidentally, after playing Zelda and NSMB, I tried MKDS! I remember being very impressed with it, and pwning Wario with a bomb on Figure 8's first lap. This was summer 2005 so even that was still some way off. It was amusing seeing little kids play Donkey Konga 2 and Mario Tennis on GBA @ the little stall...they had no idea how many people would have loved to have been in my shoes, playing Zelda TP. There was no dungeon demo, so I recall. But the game was harder, they ruined it forWii audiences
What's your point? Being disappointed with a Nintendo game does not make me any less of a Nintendo fanboy, but more to the point, I was not disappointed with it except in a few very specific failings in comparison to OoT, I merely stated that because the demo version I played nearly five years ago had features and design choices that were revoked in the final build, I was disappointed in the sense that it didn't feature some things I thought could be great. Did YOU play it?
Are you a retarded six year old or something? I PLAYED THE BETA. YOU DID NOT. I AM NINTENDOMANWILL. I KNOW WTF I'M TALKING ABOUT, YOU ARE JUST SOME SAD CHILD. I OWN THE MOTHER FUCKING GAMECUBE VERSION WHICH AS YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU WEREN'T RETARDED, IS THE SAME AS THE WII VERSION OTHER THAN THE LACK OF 16:9 AND THE CUBE CONTROLS. THE GAME'S COMBAT WAS HARDER IN THE BETA DUE TO DAMAGE AND AGGRESSIVE AI. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS WAS ALTERED FOR THE WII LAUNCH. YOU FAIL-FUCK OFF
@Nintendomanwill LOL what an assclown. Take your pills fuckhead. And turn the caps lock off, idiot. You don't know why they lowered the difficulty so stop acting like you're so fucking special because you played the beta like hundreds if not thousands of other people. Enjoy your block, retard.
I don't know why they lowered the difficulty, well guess what, neither do you, you utter fail of a debater, so you can either accept that I'm right because I played the game for about two hours in 2005 and have spent 100 hours+ playing it since or you can accept that I'm wrong without acting like a provocative fanboy because I mentioned that the enemies did more damage and were more aggressive in the original build which, guess what? you didn't play.
@Nintendomanwill I was never arguing that it was tougher in the beta you fucking moron, I was arguing THIS which I CLEARLY STATED I HAD A PROBLEM WITH.
"But the game was harder, they ruined it forWii audiences"
They didn't "ruin it for the Wii audiences" that's a BS claim that you made without any substance to back it up. You don't know why they changed it, it's called a fucking BETA for a reason. They' were still working on the game, meaning anything could be changed if they feel it's better.
Refer to my comment regarding the fact that neither of us know for sure that it wouldn't have had such gimped enemies if it had straight up been released for Cube. But it wasn't, and I retain the right to put two and two together without arsetards telling me that (and I paraphrase without mendacity) I shouldn't be posting what I think about this game because it's highly rated. I know. What an inappropriate comment. Go read your initial pointless comment and then fuck off.
@Nintendomanwill You're an asshole. When you make accusations like "they ruined it for the Wii audience" that is an invitation to be called out. If you can't understand that then perhaps you enjoy the smell of your own shit too much.
And again, I never intended to be rude in my first post. But being the type of person you are, you had to be a douche.
They did ruin it (In My VALID Op) for the Wii audience since they gimped the aggressiveness of the enemies and that was clearly so they could sell the game (somewhat clumsily) as a Wii killer-app for new gamers. Tests with non-gamers using the Wiimote setup to play TP would have obviously led Nintendo to reduce the aggressiveness of the enemies.
I'm allowed to put two and two together, I've called you out as a twat, so quit while you're ahead. You and I both know my deduction is right, so f off
@Nintendomanwill How many non-gamers play Zelda exactly instead of Wii Sports, which was bundled free with the Wii? I believe Super Monkey Ball and other casual friendly titles were also available at launch, so it's not as if the casual had only Zelda as an option.
Furthermore, The Wind Waker wasn't exactly a tough game and it was a GameCube-exclusive. Twilight Princess didn't feel THAT much easier, if at all.
Your logic is utter shit and you're smug as shit.
You know when some arsecolonel who's ranting at you is clutching at straws when he claims that TP's transplantation to the Wii most likely wouldn't have affected the ease of the game because the console also had other easy on the n00b launch games
You know what? You've got me there. I can't possibly beat that inductive reasoning. Wii games were easy therefore-TP wouldn't have been harder if not designed 4 Wii
Oh, WW was easy therefore the Wii has NOTHING to do with TP's ease, of course not...
I will grant you that that wasn't a bad comeback. But I maintain that I think the game was dumbed down when they made the strategic blunder of hoping to get mass appeal for a game that was intended for a pre-Wii audience of gamers which would account for the low difficulty level at all points throughout the game especially regarding the need to use efficiency in movement because of the pacific enemies. It may have been like this to make the game a bridge title. Neither you nor I KNOW
@Nintendomanwill If you responded like this to begin with I wouldn't have been angry. I still disagree, but it's your opinion, and at least you acknowledge it's not fact.
Honestly the enemies were a little easy (the dungeons were standard Zelda difficulty) but I don't think it's because of the Wii. It's just the way they wanted it to be IMO.
But we'll see at this years E3 how tough Zelda Wii (2010) is, and maybe the debate will be more interesting lol
No talking please

How the fuck do you know the Wii had anything to do with the lowered difficulty? The game came out on GameCube too, you know. So STFU.

This code that I have given simply replaces grass with trees so it is the closest thing you will ever come to the beta forest.
gamedesignerforever 2 years ago
There is a beta model of epona still in the game to unlock it you have to use an action replay.
gamedesignerforever 3 years ago
Do you have any proof of that? I haven't been able to find such a code. :(
Blaze50 2 years ago
Sorry I thought the epona modifier would be some kind of beta epona but it was just zelda:(
