  • U.S. soldiers are occupying & waging war in the nations of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan & God knows where else. No declarations of war have been made as prescribed by the United States Constitution. ALL participants are guilty of treason. The "I-was-just-following-orders" defense didn't work at the Nuremberg show-trials of 1946-7 and it won't work now. U.S. commanders have routinely violated the Yamashita/Medina Standard in regards to hierarchical accountability in cases of war crimes.

  • 'everything is certified green" What does that mean? I saw Tyvek wrapping the whole building. Come on dude, maybe you should change your sales pitch to be more truthful. I like the cabin though. I built one similar, and yes mine has Tyvek too.

  • Imagin the freedom.

  • makes me sick to see people so dumbed down that they actually fall for the notion that if they build a big house, they'll destroy the planet. Its communist lies. Anti-pollution legislation and being careful not to litter *is* important. But- be careful Jim & Caleb Wilkins, not to sell too many 'tiny green cabins', because the more you sell, the more you pollute. We'll be watching your numbers, in the interest of saving the planet, of course. Nice houses though. I think i'll buy 20.

  • These people have never lived with someone they hated.

  • @zacthebold Why would anyone?

  • @tomperanteau You're very lucky that you are naive enough to ask that question, I envy you. People live with people they hate all the time. Marriages turn sour and the people don't have the courage to divorce, they fight all the time. Children and younger people are forced to live with step parents that are nasty and cruel. Some real parents are just plain abusive assholes. A small house greatly increases the power of those already in power. I hope you never find out what I'm talking about.

  • @zacthebold How quaint to insult me, coming from a 23 year old child. After 50 years, my qualifications on asking that question, are without question.

In essence, you're stating that people don't have the courage, like yourself, to make their lives what they should be, and we're talking about adults here, not children. I understand that is where you are still coming from, but this is an adult discussion.

I would ask again, "why would anyone", but perhaps another time after you grow up.

  • @tomperanteau Age has nothing to do with it. Either you had some bad experiences as a child or teenager or you didn't. Being old by itself doesn't make you some kind of wise man. And don't kid yourself, most adults don't have the courage to make their lives what they should be. If you do, great. When you are young you can get stuck in bad situations regardless of how courageous you are. All I was stating was that from my perspective a tiny house seems like a nightmare. BTW I live alone.

  • @zacthebold Age has nothing to do with life experiences? LOL! Okay, so the ONLY experiences in life that count are when you are a child or teen. Got it...

I just realized I'm debating with someone that he beneath me, and so this is the point where I bow out and wish you well. May I also suggest that you see a counselor for the issues that you harbor, and also work out that arrogance thing that seems to prohibit intellectual input.

  • @tomperanteau I didn't say age has nothing to do with life experiences. Just that living life as a dumbfuck for 50, 60, or 70 years doesn't entitle you to respect. I think you are the arrogant one, "How dare this 23 year old tell me I'm naive on a subject I have demonstrated zero knowledge of! I'm 50 years old goddamn it! I know everything! RARRR!!! (thumps chest)". Respect is something that must be earned not bestowed upon morons because they got old. I'm not necessarily saying YOU are a moron.

  • @zacthebold And now we can all see where your intellect has stopped. Well, actually it never started.

Guess in time you will come to see the error of your ways. Otherwise you'll be doomed to a life of inadequacy.

  • @tomperanteau How?

  • @zacthebold Why does a tiny house seem like a nightmare?

  • Yeah, we are trying to buy a smaller home, going from 2,000 sq to 900 sq.... the bank doesn't believe we would want to do that and we have been fighting for MONTHS to get a loan approval. The system wants us to be consumer wasters!

  • I dont give a sh##t about the gas emissions, the eco footprint, and the bio.. whatever. I just want a small house, not to get in debt with my bank, so to avoid repayments.. which kill me. I wanna be mortgage-free, debt-free.. I wanna own my house from day one (not after 35 years), not being evicted by any officer.. I wanna be able to sleep at night, without nightmares.. I wanna live a decent life !!!

  • Besides... I wanna have small, super-tiny bills... gas, electricity, heating bills these days are SKYROCKETING.... I wanna reduce them to almost zero. And with a tiny house + solar panels + small wind turbine, I think I can achieve my goal...

  • @gio70v You stil should give a shit about your eco footprint. What you posted sounds very self centered and irresponsible.

  • @MickScarborough You should proof-read your comments.

  • @YourUTubeMonitor What one missing L? Thats the best you can do pussy?

  • @MickScarborough : Where's your gay-pride now?

  • I agreed,100% to build small. George Wu, AIA 2012-1-13

  • Well, a really small house or cabin would work out just fine for a single guy, or perhaps 2, but what of a family ? What of a little privacy from the other members of the family ?

The whole concept vanishes when you fuse everything together like that.

Now, while going smaller is a necessity in certain parts of the world, I believe the answer for the rest of us is doing everything in our power to render our pre-existing homes as efficient as possible, and there's tons of things we can do.

  • nut jobs!

  • Humans are responsible for about 4% of the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere annually. Mother nature accounts for the other 96%. As such, we can put forth a lot of effort for tiny decreases in carbon emissions. About the only thing we will be doing is "feeling" better, the environment will not really benefit.

  • Ms. Hobbie is Hottie

  • Actually, try living in it when it is -30. I did and it was warm, cozy and my heat and electric ran $25 a month. To clean the cabin took less than 10 minutes a week, freeing me up to enjoy life. I believe in sustainable living, and tiny houses provide a roof over my head without breaking the bank which gives me the freedom to pursue what is important to me.

  • now try living in there during 30 degrees weather.

  • Let me give the leftists a hint...I'm open to a small house. There are plenty of avenues you can sell it on. Trying to sell a small house on the global warming scam is a losing avenue. How about addressing the lower energy costs to heat, or the ability to resell in a market where people are looking to downsize, or the ease of cleaning or the lower costs to maintain a small house?

  • @MrExcogitate I agree. I live in a tiny house. it's a cross between a travel trailer and one like this. I do it so I can move to where the work is, live cheaply, and not have a pile of never ending debt.. my carbon foot print means nothing because it's a pile of BS anyway..

  • Who gives a crap about carbon foot print??? Give it a rest.

  • @MrPilot921 Clearly you don't, but I do. But guess what, it doesn't really matter whether you or I "care" about it, it exists, and has effects on our planet. And we are learning that some of these effects cause impacts that may lead to catastrophic problems. You may not care, but I am glad some do and take the time to study it in hopes of learning more.

  • good ideas however, what bunch of self important, over blown egos these people have.

  • @looking4thepast09 You know these people? Interesting. I do agree that some people take the environment eco thing too far, this is borderline, however most people are on the other spectrum, not giving a shit about it. If you are one of these people, you are either just another selfish person, or just miss informed and ignorant when in comes to the human way of life impacting our planet.

  • @MonopolyBag No matter what you do you can't stop global warming if it's real. Not to say you should treat it badly or anything. I think people should just respect the environment instead of forcing a movement into everyone's personal, political and economic lives. My opinion.

  • Funny that it took "experts" to figure out that bigger houses leave bigger carbon footprints. Thanks "experts!"

  • People, please dont buy into this nonsense." Those who control carbon, control the world." this should be left only as an option for those who are interested in that style of living. It should NOT be forced upon us by an "environmentally safe" government. Dont fall for these tricks! Wake up.

  • The beginning part on global warming is bullshit.

  • @gmaster45612374 houses do use up a lot of energy though, one of the first things I studied in my architecture structures class was how the systems of a house worked, and we had to calculate how many resources and energy a house used up. it was a BITCH. but it was also a surprising excercise, most of the energy in the US (water, electricity, materials) goes into buildings, if we shave off a bit off of that, it'd make a bigger impact than having everyone drive hybrids

  • I think this stuff is Great ! I've always been a Not Financially High in Society. So I have learned to appreciate the small things in life ! Like a roof over your head and a pillow lay it on ! This is not Roughing it at all this is Living in Style !

  • I'm really interested in this kind of living but I wish they would have touched on how small living can incorporate families. If I want to raise a family of five or four how would I go about building a more sensible sized house, cutting out the excessive but still respective privacy!

  • Very nice!!! I like it!!!!!!!!!

  • Let's all crap in buckets for all the good that'd do.

  • The PC screen im using to see this wouldn't fit in his house

  • I'm into the tiny house idea. I'm with you there. But I hate tiny things. My vision is I'd like to see a community of tiny houses that share large appliances like laundry and kitchen stuff in a common building, but still enjoy the privacy of their own spaces for bed and full-sized soaking bathtub. Can't live without a soaking bathtub! I think 12x16 is a good size for a Tiny House with comfortable roominess.

  • @Crunchy68 that's called prison.

  • @tallSOB No, it's freedom. Freedom from a mortgage. Freedom to live as I like.

You don't like it, that's fine, you can choose something else. You are free to live in however big a house you want or can pay for. But I think I'd like a community of folks who all see the beauty of living with less stuff.

  • i will be doing this soon. i estimate everything will cost approx 12000 dollars. thats for 810 solar batteries small 16X20 cabin . i have most appliances already

  • I am building a very small house right now. For many reasons. But I hear you preaching GREEN then see in the video, an air compressor for an air nailer. Ever hear of a hammer?

    littlehouseonthehill.weebly.com

  • Hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing their homes as the economy is deliberately imploded. Small house movement = impoverishment & disenfranchisement.

  • @EasingDifficulties The concept is about being happy with less, not how poor the country is getting.

  • @mattgresh1 : The impoverished people of the world have less as they are wanting, thus they are: IMPOVERISHED. Having less is a cop-out. This presentation champions eugenism.

  • @EasingDifficulties Buddhism, a religion of happy poor people? or just rich people deciding to be poor?

  • @mattgresh1 : Large boxes are preferable to small ones. The Buddha preached against baubles & trinkets acquired at the expense of the poor, not against John Q. Public having enough space to keep a free-standing ironing board at-the-ready, or a room to accommodate a modest pool table.

  • I like a small home with lots of land because I LOVE dirt cheap bills and the FREEDOM that comes from being SELF SUFFICIENT!

  • GOOD, Shouldn't be living in a fking box in the first place!! >8(

    Great video :)

  • Do you think my recliner chair would fit through the front door?

  • So many fallacious assumptions: that energy necessarily produces emmissions. (Nuclear does not.) That C02 is necessarily a problem (Levels in Earths history were much higher at times before the first human existed. Not only that, but for most of human history, people spent much of their time trying not to freeze to death.) That humans are the only organism to affect their environment. (See: any other organism) Focus on the advantages of tiny houses without getting preachy about eco-BS.

  • The bigger the better! Don't believe these elitist nitwits!

  • Global warming? Central Florida is too cold for commercial orange groves these days.

  • I urinate 700 times a night so sleeping in a rat's nest isn't right for me.

  • @procommenter if your like me (diabetic) and on diruretics . urinating can be a problem if you dont have in-door plumbing. i can relate.

  • @frezdead1 : Truer words were never spoken.

  • @procommenter Then you need medical attention cause it isn't normal.

  • I don't think I could handle it, living in a house as small as that. :s

  • I dont give a fuck about my footprint because all grobal warming is caused by Al-Qaida

  • the smaller the house/shelter your have the cheaper it is to heat up so next time your out house hunting or building a woodland shelter/log cabin choose a small one is you want to heat it up quicker

  • @xMrjamjam : Mother nature will smash you like a bug.

  • nice...

  • I wish I could buy a house. Tiny or large!! haha

  • @rangaman86 I agree! Where I live and work, I don't think they would allow these tiny homes. And fixer-uppers cost $350,000.

  • that is not an option for people how have like 6 or more family member , not possible to you in small house. Add up the kids and No

  • Smaller home lees energery means more money in the pocket.

  • See...

    iamthewitness.c o m

  • I like your small homes. I really wish I could get one=)

  • I am building a small home now. Im amazed at how some people consider a small home a step down in culture while people like me choose it. I could care less about the eco junk, just prefer to keep as much of my money as I make.

  • @KesslersCross , i agree, i went from a small 1000sq ft home to big 3000sq ft and back to small 1000 sq ft. i was much happer in the smaller homes, simple, easy to clean, less cost, more freedom, less stress and i find it more romantic with a partner. It is sad how people think your broke,a step down or have hit hard times because you choose a smaller home,i watch them work 10 to 15 hour days to keep there homes, been there done that, never again!

  • @RawFoodGuy99 Lol I couldnt agree more. My cabin that I just built is about 850sq ft and im amazed at how much I save. I have a small company that builds tiny houses and Ive seen a pretty good increase in business in the last two yrs. My cabin runs the small things on Solar, and the range, hot water tank etc etc on line power. My electric bills are 50 dollars a month, wood heating which hardly takes anything, well water, I strongly strongly recomend it for anyone.

  • @RawFoodGuy99 YES! Once I move out of my large standard middle class home living with my parents, I hope to live in an urban environment in a smaller and practically designed home. Not only for the green living, but for the practicality and easier lifestyle. I still plan to have a flat screen TV and a nice house, just not all this necessary things that I eprsonally do not find important in my life.

  • i live in a small house not because i want to go green, or save the planet, or any of these "eco" mantra bullshit.

i live in a small house because this is all i can afford. if i have a better income i would get a regular size house and just chill like a regular person.

small houses really, really sucks. trust me. i know because i have one right now.

  • yeah pretty nice, and the when everybody gets used with the little houses, they will cost as much as a large one, bs buy as big as a house as you can afford.

  • @Estebanfuturo Not many people will buy tiny houses like this. Most families would want a bigger house for when/if they have kids. Many people would go crazy if they had to live in this. Therefore, little houses will stay the same.

  • @porkyminch01 Wood does less damage if it collapses on you in earthquakes or tornadoes, I guess... and the Yanks have lots of them.

  • Here comes the necessary poverty, that will degenerate into penury, in the name of saving mother Earth...

  • While I agree with smaller being better and more efficient, I would appreciate you, and others of your ilk, to stop using "global warming" as your mantra. It has been proven false time and time again by scientists NOT getting government or Al Gore BS funding. The earth and all other planets in our solar system have undergone the same climatic changes, and they have no people, no industry, no SUV's! Sell your wonderful product for what it is, and stop trying to play the "green card."

  • @AlMelco Some people say similar about those scientists who are opposed to the idea of anthropogenic climate change- that they're in the pay of those sectors of business who profit from fossil fuels.

I think the real question is perhaps not 'are we contributing to climate change' but 'how much, and how bad will it be'?

And even wihout climate change, fossil fuels are almost certainly finite.

  • @AlMelco I used to drive over the road for a living and I would stay out anywhere from 2-4 months at a time. I learned to love living in the bunk of a truck. I don't need a lot of space. I think folks that live in huge homes are doing that for prestige, bragging rights and to be able to pay very big utility bills.

  • lovely idea although it'd be better if it was multi-story

  • Tiny Green Cabins was asked to be a part of an exhibit on sustainable shelters at the Bell Museum of Natural History. They shot over 2 hours of video at our location and shot many more hours of University Professors before edits and opening the exhibit and release of this video. We are proud to be a part of this video and exhibit and know that you will enjoy the video as well as the other related videos that are part of the exhibit. By living small, you can indeed live large!

  • Can you imagine what would be possible if we all lived smaller? Living larger by living smaller! Wow, what a concept.

  • I think its a show stopper
