I often used this stretch of road travelling between Buffalo and DC years ago.
Good: more direct route.
Bad: one lane each side much of the way. Only Thruway-to-Route 39; 17/86-to-Bradford; and near to Altoona where you get 22, 220, and 99 were the better stretches of this... which is why I used Route 15 more often.
I can remember when they built the first section of that from south Bradford to downtown. Was a big thing back then (about 1970 if I remember correct).
