  • combie tool are good for volunteer fire depts who cant afford 2 different tools. i personally like to have seperate tools u can use the spreaders to raise vehicle while u can use cutters to cut whatever needs cutting but i wish we had a combination tool as well as our spreaders and jaws

  • I need to steal that from the firefighting department down the street because it looks cool

  • it should be called "jaws of ill freaking snap your leg in half if you eat my last twinkie"

  • the jaws of life would not have anything on Jaws from 007 everyone knows that.

  • for my it is the best rescue tool

  • those things are so freaking powerfull sombody from the firebrigade askt me to cut a car seat out of a pessenger car it just cut it out the car whitout any problems :)

  • OMNOMNOM

  • those are combination spreader/ cutters there not as good as single spreaders or cutters

  • @Prentice71 yea. our rescue has the 2 separate tools, plus some rams, but on one of our pumpers we have a "roadrunner" combo tool. its half the size of the spreader.

  • i bet if they make a new Saw movie that will in there

  • AWW EWW

  • Anyone know who invented this tool?

  • James Allen Watson, signed blueprints with initials ( JAW) Thats where the nickname came into play.

  • Did he work for George Hurst?

  • Yeah, he was one of the co-inventors

  • I wanna see a jaws of life torture test, where they push it to failure and see just what it can cut.

  • we tried with ours, exactly the same tool, and we cut the nader pin on a car, which is one of the hardest parts.. and that was pretty much the maximum it would cut

  • That is actually the Hurst "Mavrick" (or maybe the Palledin) tool. "Jaws of Life" is a registered trade name for ANY Hurst Rescue product. BTW, why isn't the person operating the took wearing gloves?

  • put ur arm in there!

  • actually the jaws do a combination of things. Pinch spread and cut.

  • yea thatd be cool if that was actual the jaws of life that was a "o" cutter the jaws dont cut they spread!

  • loloololol now only if that was u =P

  • stick your finger in there :D

  • that wouldnt be too pleasant LOl

  • thats so funny, getting someone out of a wooden car, but hydraulics are mean killing power

  • true, but the hydraulic pressure it can deliver can cut steel like butter

  • that'd be ok if u were cutting someone out of a wooden car :P

  • @fireman1 LMFAO

  • @fireman1 they can cut way more then that! they can cut through the roof supports of cars no problem.

  • @fireman1 Hey, maybe an Amish guy in a horse and carriage are going 100mph down the freeway, and gets into an accident. Always want to be prepared :P
