It is such an amazing place to be in. Times may be tough, but it is still fabulous, I've been living in Athens for almost 7 years now and not a day goes by when I don't enjoy it.

...So yeah, you are right in that aspect, this is coming from a person of Greek heritage that has visited numerous times, especially Corfu (where I'm from). Yes, all those people commenting on animal abuse. It's true, I've been visiting Greece ever since I was about 1-2 years old and I will not deny that animals are treated poorly. Many people, predominantly people in their 60s and above have an "old school" mentality where they see animals not as pets; they don't desex their animals or anything, they believe the purpose of the animal is to get rid of the little pests...

Traffic,noise, filth,drugs especially in Omonia square and Metaxourgio, brothels everywere, rude people, racists (especially towards Albanians and Pakistani ) . I've been to Greece once and will NEVER return. Greece is hell on earth for animals. I witnessed appalling animal abuse and neglect during my stay. You would have to be blind not to see it, which the makers of this video obviously are. Why not show us the REAL Greece?

I seriously wonder if some tourists wander around this country wearing rose tinted glasses and ear plugs. There are daily reports of animal suffering, kittens and puppies discarded like rubbish and tossed into roadside bins, dogs and cats fed poison. Cocktails of pesticides or ground glass offered in callous disregard for the extreme suffering and agonizing death this causes.
This country is beautiful but many of its cities and towns undergo street cleaning Greek style before the tourist season begins. Poisons are spread indiscriminately to kill stray dogs and cats, companion animals, and wildlife. Sadly and to Greece’s detriment, many of her people are seriously lacking in compassion for either livestock or abandoned and abused domestic animals.
Kittens and puppies are thrown into rubbish bins every day. For the few who are rescued, how many more are crushed by rubbish compactors? Let's stop veiling our eyes and pretending Greece is a wonderful country and the cradle of civilisation! It has long since ceased being civilised.
I find it pretty appalling that the Greek tourism authorities should use depictions of beautiful, healthy cats to promote their country, when in reality most cats in Greece are sick and starving, begging for food and being ignored by residents and tavern owners alike. While there are some who care, most Greeks ignore and abuse cats and dogs. The government does NOTHING to help the few organisations that strive to lessen the suffering of stray animals. So this is nothing short of dishonest.
I cannot believe the hypocracy, there is a new govt promotional power point presentation going around using an animated cat to entice tourists to Greece. How could they, when cats are treated like vermin, poisoned and left to starve and live kittens dumped in rubbish bins.

The infrastructure is great, so one tourist says....but who funded the Greeks' wonderful motorways, bridges, multi-storey shopping centres, art galleries etc etc...EU MONEY, that's who...the tax payers of the better-off EU countries. The Germans are fed up to have to fork out money from their pockets to corrupt Greeks. And before somebody lynches me, I'm not German myself, but would be proud to be a citizen in a country who put ANIMAL RIGHTS into their constitution.

Athens= ruins, ruins and ruins
these are the only interesting places to see beside the big Hotel and the Parlamentarian building on the Syntagma square and some nice villas
as a whole, the city centre of Athens is rather ugly
on the other side the Greek food, the nightlife, the women and the hospitality are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
