  • Best band EVER

  • WOW!

  • true musicians

  • this is my favourite performance from Carla...too bad she is kind of drowned out by everyone else

  • If SGM were as concerned with what genre they fit into as everybody here commenting, you wouldn't have such a great song to listen to whilst ranting away. ;)

  • In love w/ the voice & the lady. Thanks, "rat"!!!!

  • art me'tal

  • what the fuck is that shit

  • holy shit she's incredible

  • People shouldn't concern themselves with genres. You either like it or not, doesn't need a label. But for those who must know, SGM is categorized as Avant-Garde Metal, which takes root in bands such as Mr.Bungle for instance.

  • I would expect a more intelligent comment section from SGM fans. Musical genre arguements really? That's so metal. LOL

  • @MrSafetymeeting Exactly. It's blatantly obvious when you listen to it that they weren't aiming for any specific style. They make music, and they make it well

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!! and quite different than most music...yea not metal by any stretch of the SANE imagination tho.

  • this is not metal you idiots, this is sleepytime gorilla museum

  • @aakkoin amen!

  • why call this metal? it has nothing to do with it. This is clearly Experimental/Progressive, a lot in the world of King Crimson as it's been already said. And by the way, this is the very favorite Tony Levin's band (K.C. stick/bass player).

  • If Bjork has a metal band 0_o

  • haha the sledgehammer dulcimer!! i gotta stop it there... im laughing too much... awesome... awesome... *wipes tear from eye*

  • WOW

  • They're soo good live!!!

  • I'm not into this kind of music but I have to admit the stuff goin on at 3;40 is really cool.

  • im glad i stumbled upon this band...

the girl kinda reminds me of bjork, voice wise that is

  • Carla's scream at 6:33 was beautiful :D

  • As close to a perfect song as it gets. Great job guys (and girl *awesome*)!

  • kinda sounded like some king krimson, love it, she plays the hell outta that violin.

  • @dstrong2424 I know you wrote this a while ago, and I'm sure it was just a typo, but I feel I have to correct your spelling. King Crimson. I agree with your opinion on the matter, though.

  • it's true, they're so social towards the audience ... we've seen them in Belgium and the Netherlands and every time they just walked off stage after the gig and started chatting to the people ... Really nice and open folks, love them ! Can't wait to hear the new album, any news ????

  • this is what metal should be damn it

  • indeed

  • @nsatans metal should be lots of things

  • This music, to my ear, is as close to perfection as anything I've ever heard. The technique is there, the tone, the timing, the emotion, the creativity,.......It's all in there.

Matthias Bossi is an incredible drummer, and a vary interesting person.

  • they both have incredible voices and tone.

  • what is the title of that song???????

  • angle of repose

  • i've seen this band several times now. i've gotten to meet and speak with each member on a personal level; at the last show i saw, my friends and i got to split a pizza with them before the show at the magic bag in detroit. each one of them is incredibly cool and kind. good times are had with these guys.

  • absolutely. I only met nils, dan and michael. All were very approachable and friendly people.

  • how come it says featuring carla. i love her. but just curious. she more popular than the band in holland?

  • Carla is part of the band, it's just something Nil said in the show to off this instrument called a bass harmonica; which Carla played.

  • i know shes part of the band. but i get it now. with the whole instrument introduction thing.

  • all those years as children , banging garbage cans on each others heads, didnt go to waste. they still at it.

  • damn this is so Steampunk!

  • Damn this is so Steampunk!

  • Oh hell yeah. I love this song. Where was this recorded?

  • I like these silly-billies.

  • I like this better than the album version.

  • yeah me too

  • wait! this is weird but i think this could be amazing. a new art music.

  • almost sounds cooler than on the record.. it's heavier in a way

  • No, it does sound cooler. And heavier. Can't wait 'til they hit my town!

  • Fucking perfect.

They get better and better, tour by tour and album by album.

  • Thanks for Sledgehammer dulcimer, I am having a great time listening to it. Another fan exists in musical harmony is found with the sound coming up from the ground and all around are speakers that have their own sound,

Thanks for putting this on you tube as well.

  • wonderful...magnificent...incredible...awesome!!!

  • You're a fucking moron.

  • You never heard their album version songs right? and you don't know what aesthetic means... maybe im wrong... and you dont have good musical taste, lol

  • you should give their CD a listen if you like weird metal. i think you might change your mind about this one.

  • I wish there were more women like Carla.

  • I totally agree with you. Women who don't need to be center of attention and aren't afraid of being different/themselves.

  • I wish there were more people like Carla

  • i wish... Carla

  • what CD is this from?

  • It's from "In Glorious Times". Song's name is "Angle of Repose".

  • In Glorious Times

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • one of the greatest bands since the seventies! are they geniuses!? quite so!

  • carla is an amazing singer

great band overall though as well

    gotta love the sledgehammer dulcimer

  • yeah Idiot! I LOVE THIS SONG I'm ASCENDING

  • Viva Carla!

  • The only good thing to come out of oakland.

  • neurosis..

  • Fishtank Ensemble anyone?

  • whos that? fishtank, is that band similiar to these guys?

  • The exact same band. They call themselves Fishtank for short.

  • since when?

  • Since never, I'm completely wrong ha ha!

  • not at all buddy. not at all.

  • Fishtank Ensemble is better.

  • Fishtank Ensemble is an entirely different genre, style, and band. It's not really a valid comparison.

  • true true. theyre both good. but i personally like fishtank ensemble better.

this chicks voice is crazy i love it.

  • You ever heard of Tower of Power? Or you're really ignorant?

  • I guess so, to be honest there's definitely more great acts to be discovered coming from Oakland. And, yes, for the last time, Fishtank is not the same as Fishtank Ensemble at all--I know now.

  • Temázo, se lució Carla Kihlstedt con este temita...

  • this song is particularly strinking and in a new sgm spirit

it's great rock (song) in opposition

they end of the tune really sound like some fred frith ethno breakbeat style
