  • The TUBE extensively took over from where The Old Grey Whistle Test left off. If the band couldn't play live, then they didn't get air time. I was a late teen in the 80's and loved every minute of programs like the TUBE.

  • amazing

  • I thought I had crazy eyebrows! O_O

  • 30secs in. Dave K on keyboards. Haven't seen him for years!

  • I watched this edition of The Tube as it was broadcast.... Of the two greatest live sets ever played on this show IMHO, this one, by Killing Joke was the best.... The other was a set played by U2.

  • @Hoyt422

u2 were nothing in comparison to kj at the time - like you i was there

  • @90cooltempo KJ's music hits home with the power of an artillery barriage, U2 have NEVER come close to these guys. Arguably one of the most underrated bands of the decade. I vividly remember watching 'The Tube,' when KJ played 'Dominator.' I was 13 at the time, and I thought the third world war had just broken out when I heard this!

  • 1:40 to 1:50

    The epic faces of Jaz.

  • @1967nj Good point, i'm a arm chair fan i guess, BUT! i was to young to see them live in 85, unless their giging now then i would make the effort to see them. Also i know what you mean about visage, i've always loved their music up untill "The Anvil" album, i guess some synth bands found it hard to emulate that stubio sound, plus strange was probably a little high at the time. Cheers

  • And now, today , we can enjoy them everyday ! Yeah !

  • First band I ever saw. Dunstable Queensway Hall. 1985, if I remember correctly. Happy days!

  • Is this definitely live? Almost indistinguishable from the studio version...

  • @cig1705 I always thought The Tube was about playing live, but your right, it does sound like a studio version.

  • @TheGodParticle It's not though. The guitar on the studio version is just not so heavy sounding and distorted. And Jaz's vocals don't come across very loud on the live versions, the style he's sings love like blood with is just that way.

  • god, he has sexy eyebrows. seriously

  • Very good version. Love them, they are so beautiful!

  • Comment removed

  • Impressive eyebrows.

  • Incredible musical unit. The guitar playing is of another world, driving bass pounding drums and fills plus nice pads and chords on the Oberheim OBX. The singing was great as will as the song. Top notch. The song just steamrolls over you.

  • I don't know why every radio station does not play this song 100 times a day. This song kicks ass!!!!!!!

  • I remember watching this on The Tube as a teenager. great stuff

  • ....bloodly fuckin brilliant!!

  • I like it. He's no Robert Smith, though.

  • @TheArbiterBibendi Thankfully.

  • @:44 I still dance like that. Fucking A!

  • kannte das lied bis jetz nur durch Dead by april ........ aber das original is ja mal genau so geil *-*

  • Fucking brilliant...best times of our lives...xo

  • Finster!

  • Kj still alive and brillant as ever ! Live Tonight 8 July United Kingdom Knebworth Sonisphere

  • love love love

  • From the eighties, when the mono-brow RULED.

  • For when you need someone's love like you need blood. When it feels like you can't live without it...

  • Just feel connection with all the guys in this performance. Just awesome!

  • Yes im addicted to this music,,is very nice. 2001 PORTUGAL

  • Super!!!

  • Brilliant

  • Brilliant

  • Looks like a cross between Rocky and Frankenstien!!!!

  • LOL at the guy in the suit dancing. EIGHTIES!

  • @huthut91 I think their will be plenty of things about the fashions & styles now we will look back on & laugh. At least the Music back then was better by far!

  • Brilliant! I even remember watching this on the box at the time, but I've never seen them live!

Love the hairstyles and the posturing dance of the audience.

Then it was out on the piss, down the chinky, spew-it all up down an alley...

    Great days!

  • i saw a gig of them some time ago, and the blond guy still plays the same guitar, respect!

  • I saw them on tour with this album,a week later I was seriously worried that my hearing would never come back.

    Very loud band live !

  • ..if Jimmy Page mentions the guitar man as beacon of light among the 8o's crap, then this man gotta be good ...

  • Jaz has great presence on stage. Excellent band.

  • Great tune, part of long sleepless nights, end of the Eighties !

  • love em but...nice brows!

  • Imagine, for a moment, if ou will. Getting home from work on a Friday night to watch this? No, not likely is it? These were golden days. 80s days. But remember the Killing Joke still lives. End game!

  • The Tube always set you up nicely to go out on a Friday night. We didnt know how good we had it back then. What have we got now? Jools Holland and Later!! zeesh!

  • @CONSIDERABLYMORE1 I remember cycling home from work like the clappers on a wet windy Friday night to see Killing Joke on The Tube.

  • the masters of new wave , there great underrated band of the 80s i love them

  • One of my biggest regrets is being at the Reading Festival in 1986 and being so stoned that I could not make it out of my tent to see KJ play an absolutely blinding set........I heard it, from the tent with like a 2 sec delay/reverb thing that made it even more mind-blowing lol........Why did we only buy a Q?

  • Kill that Joke but not Killing Joke.

  • ...and the drums :-)

  • I love this song...the keys, the guitar, Jaz's voice...classics never age. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Is the lead singer the bloke who plays the green hulk in the TV series ? Spit of the fucker anyway even if it isn't him

  • hey its Mel Gibson on lead vocals...........damn what talent that guy has........

  • I didn't really care for this tune until seeing them in 2008, now it's probably in my top 15 KJ songs.

  • Thats not Nick Rhodes !

  • classic !

  • I am a fan since the beginning!

  • good video greetings from mexico

  • One word: MASSIVE! MASS............

  • it's like they're dancing to the apocalypse!

    love it

  • aged very well this track. classic.

  • Jaz Coleman looks kinda similar to actor Ray Wise

  • horray for headless basses

  • so good

  • This song its maybe the best of killing joke in 4 minutes :D Love it since i heard it the first tiem.

  • Great tune, unique band, craziest frontman !

  • Fuckin class

  • Eyebrows.

  • Eyebrows.

  • One of my fav tunes of all the times…

Love the keys and bass sound…

Very great band! Some thoughts to Paul Raven… RIP

  • That's my mate Dave K on keyboards!

  • Great song, thanx!!!!

  • que tiempos aquellos...habidos de experiencias..elegancia y actitud

  • ♔Day-1 AB Brussels City♔

  • i love monosourcil

  • Jaz looks like a good... beauty of this song is endless

  • How do you make heavy noise and beautiful melodies seem effortless? Ask Killing Joke! So cool. This version is better than the recording.

  • I realy like this song.., but I cant help myself...I feel a lot of The Cure influence in that...and it´s good...:)

  • so intence

  • again with feeling!

  • Jaz Coleman is one seriously talented mother. Have you heard his Led Zep arrangement with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Symply amazing

  • Cool. This song came to my ears together with SIMPLE MINDS "Don´t you". What a great time. Didn´t know they were still around. :-)

  • Jazz - a man that stands alone. so many good songs and no one quite like the killing joke

  • Oh que c'est beau ce son et ce titre!!!!

  • Beautiful song....

  • And a fine set of eyebrows to boot......

  • I played this song again and again in the eighties

    it never bored me

and stil now and play it again and again

    and stil not bored me

I think there is no song nowadays that can compare with this song!!

  • Is 1.17 to 1.21 possibly the most 80s moment of all time?

  • Fuckin amazing music!! Simply stunning.

  • those are some monster eyebrows

  • Fucking CONVINCING ! 2:29

  • when music was about talent and music not looks!!!

  • @KashmiriRose

that's not true, of course this is also about looks. you can debate about the percentage talent/looks when comparing killing joke to today's pop music, but they had a record company and they had a certain image (which isn't a bad thing necessarily). the only music i know which is purely about music is hardcore bebop jazz.

  • aah 6pm on a friday night the tube probably the best music show ever cool jools and hot paula good music happy days more clips from here please oh and killing joke were fuckin good

  • Oh and a look at those busy busy eyebrows! Unibrow!

  • today's band come even near this...

  • I remember the good old days of dancing on one's shoulders to get noticed........Great song, performance and great picture... cheers to the one who put this on

  • They always seemed to have a lot of wankers in the crowd on the Tube.

  • immer noch soooooo verdammt geil!!!!!!!!

Where is this music today ?

  • I remember watching this, and after the commercial break, Jools Holland looking genuinely shaken up saying, 'We're all recovering from that performance by Killing Joke.'

  • This is the best song of the 80´s

  • @manhenk I agree!

  • @manhenk ...and the 90s!!

  • This is a great song by a great band!

  • Love this. One of the most intense bands ever. Beautiful!

  • killing joke!! que de souvenir!! que sont il devenu,

  • For a mainstream channels flagship music show the audio monkey's abilities leave a lot to be desired, as a former audio monkey myself -although I have not done a live bands sound in at least ten years, ah the bliss of retirement- I am shocked at the levels this particular performance runs up and down to, was the engineer asleep? Talk about phasing..not good, but still a great song!

  • Killing joke were, and are, one of the great bands. Jaz (lead singer) is a genius too. Occult depths and classical music training.

  • Killing Joke influenced Lamb of God, Korn, Jane's Addiction, Godflesh, Nirvana & Metallica to name a few, bands like Killing Joke only appear rarely in one's lifetime.

  • love his eyebrows!! :D

  • Oh Jim, thanks so much for uploading these vids of KJ, they were so, so good. I remember watching them for the very first time on the tube and afterwards wished I had VHS recorded the programme! Thanks for bringing back the good old days. I was begining to think nobody had this recorded!

  • All the comments about the unibrow: if ONLY I STILL HAD my hair from the '80s!! My hair and brows may be going away, but fortunately, this song will remain as strong as ever, long after even the memories of MY unibrow are gone. A simply great live version of a simply great song!

  • excellent sounds, and the unibrow is first class..thats how it was in 80's,,like it or lump it !

  • I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE 80'S !!

  • Classic 80's. I love the music in this song. What is up with the unibrow though? Wow.

  • Killlig Joke! absolutely brutal! Loved this song already in the "Eightees" ;-)

  • Who is the 'kraftwerk' on keyboards? (no idea)

  • wow. this is a pretty cool song. amazing

  • Eyebrows...

  • @dropGwolf

    It's THE unibrow!

  • Love the lush Oberheim OB-X pad sound

    awesome track!

  • Haven't heard this in so many years. Thanks for posting! Used to love the single cover for this tune - they just don't make enough tunes like this anymore

  • Geordie is such a badass

  • Thank you for this! Outstanding!

  • Fucking Amazing!

  • The Tube was an awesome show and music was exciting as hell back then! Imagine getting The Smiths, Killing Joke and Duran Duran all playing on a show where the host got fired for foul language.

    Great times!

  • Jaz Coleman is a strange guy,but the music that they make is powerfull...

And this version is better than the original/single version released in the 80's album.

  • agreed, more meat and 2 veg than the original.

  • STILL AWESOME!!!!

  • It sounds way better with this sped-up tempo.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • Thats one AWESOME guitar sound

  • he looks like something out of a horror movie, brilliant track

  • Great live version, I never have seen this footage before. Terrific!

  • Because Its faster...HE HAS HUGE EYEBROWS...

  • yeah, faster and heavier!!!!

  • I think youll find its a monobrow, and a beaut to boot!

  • i actually think this performance is better than the recorded version

  • The guest keyboard player was Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran

  • LOL , you right !!

That guy looks exactly like Nick Rhodes at 0:31 !!!

  • Strangely I prefer looking at Geordie, his guitar playing defines big part of the Killoing joke sound.

  • His name is Dave Kovacevic.

    Nick Rhodes? PMSL

  • WOW !!! killer eyebrows,

    top tune also......

  • I like the keyboardist - he looks like hes a bit bored.

  • i loved this KJ song when i was young...still do, thanks for the memories

  • Hey bands today, learn!

  • Nirvana tried :D

  • Didn't KJ sue them for having Come As You sound too much like Living in the 80's?

  • yup

  • brilliant thanx for posting

  • Raw. Always loved this choon.

  • wow, this is seriously up tempo compaired to the usual versions of this song...

    which is cool!

  • The passion!! I love the lead singer, wow, he's amazing.

  • Jaz Coleman. A weird and wild man.

  • I remember seeing this video on the tube and have seen killing joke over thirty times and i live in the shitty UK going to save and get the feck out of a country once proud now ruind and expensive join me travelers....

  • what a great track, still have the 12" . . .

  • Alas the Raven is no longer grounded... (S.I.P) Soar In Peace, Paul Vincent Raven...

  • jaz coleman has got to be still one of the scareist looking front men around

  • one of the sexiest

  • @fibua68 ye,he seems like early Stallone

  • @fibua68 yeah, I think he's possibly scarier-lookin' without his war paint than with it--either way, he's one intense dude on stage

  • @shawnmazzola yes i agree. class!!!

  • @fibua68 Ya but man he is an awesome singer. I like his style a lot
