That is why both lens are making/solving the riddle for rin- it is an agreement between both sides. That is why sane len said "hurry if you want to run away then do it quickly"

Therefore, he was referred to as 'the one-armed detective.' After Len smacked Rin's knife away and his coat fell off, his bloody arm was revealed, and we have our lovely little song. In response to the whole thing with Len's missing arm: he's only missing his arm when he's wearing the coat. His arm, covered in blood, would implicate him for his crimes, so he hid it inside his coat instead of putting it through the sleeve. Note that the arm appears after he takes his coat off.
