  • I also loved watching this show! I was 10 and it was a great tv time, miss "the fall guy" with lee majors, and the short lived "tales of the golden monkey", and "bring em back alive"

  • I loved this show! Still do! Especially the comedic moments! I love Rick's Power Ram truck and AJ's Camaro!

    Tim Reid as Downtown Brown!!

I'm fortunate to have been a kid in the 80's and watched great shows like this not the crap of today!

  • i loved that guys dodge!

  • Awsome series! I never misseded it! I use to watched on wensdays at 8 pm. :D

  • i was 8-17 in the 80s and its good memories to see these show intros versus the garbage of today. they dont even do intos anymore.

  • Great theme song, lame show.

  • I watched this with my little brother every week. We'd do air-guitar and air-sax and laugh ourselves silly. We would also enjoy the brotherly banter between Rick and A.J. We totally bought that two professional detectives would tease each other about childhood incidents during an important investigation. Good times.

  • Does Gerald McRaney still bang Delta Burke?

  • memories are great but also can make you remember whats missing.

  • @ImagesByDavid

What exactly are you saying is missing in this circumstance?

  • I was 18 or 19 when this first aired, and I was hooked within minutes (both brothers are gorgeous - to this day I can't decide who I fancy best, it's so neck-and-neck), and I watched it faithfully during it's entire run.

Just when I thought I'd never get to see it again, A&E aired it, and I taped many of them.

What a VIOLENT show! I COULDN'T BELIEVE the amount of violence in EVERY episode. I was flabbergasted. I'm still a HUGE fan, and will always treasure the episodes I taped. I <3 Rick + AJ

  • Man the 80's! Back when tv shows had rocking theme songs!

  • @rtds9fan r u saying the MAAARTIN theme doesnt compare?lol

  • you can watch them on line on netflix now

  • This was like and action show for chics, watched it when nothing else was on.

  • I was the ages of 3 to 12 in the 80's, and I remember this show! I used to watch this along with Magnum PI, Murder She Wrote, the list goes on and on! Great times my childhood was, great times. I'm lucky enough to have lived every single day of the 80's, and old enough to remember about 90% of them!

  • couldnt agree more, I was too young in the 80's to truely appreciate simon&simon. I started watching re-runs and Im hooked. One of the best detective shows ever, still cool by todays standards and in my oponion much better than alot of the newer crime shows.

  • @pika62221 Yeah, Those shows were the bomb!

  • @pika62221 We're the same age. I love the 80s too.

  • @pika62221 I'm the same age, and I wouldn't trade my childhood in the 80s for anything in this world.

  • I'm a woman and I love this theme song!!!!!

  • really enjoy the crossover episode with Magnum p.i

  • Well...I am a girl and I love the Theme Song and I love that show :-)

  • I loved this show. It was awesome then and still awesome now.

  • not the greatest theme but I did like the show quite a lot.

  • Why do girls always hate this theme music? Even in high school the girls didn't like it!

    Weird.

  • Hey, I'm a girl and I LOVED this theme song and the show. I've got the first 2 seasons on DVD too :)

  • I loved this show growing up. Even back then I knew it had a cheesy edge to it but that's why I liked it. Even now I'm sure I could watch it and laugh my head off... but then again I've since discovered weed.

  • i love the ads for the usa show psych that has this and a whole bunch of other 80's shows

  • I became a teenager in '82. This show along with Magnum, P.I. were a couple of the best on T.V. Of course it all started with Rockford Files for me.

  • Comment removed

  • Both guys were so hot! Each in his own unique style... Cool intro music as well.

  • Parker was very good looking; McRaney had the best lines. It was worth watching, even if a bit formulaic. Points for funny banter.

  • I want to learn this on guitar it rocks!

  • I loved A.J.

  • la musique était drole et la série aussi.superbe

  • The part that always cracked me up was when Rick punched the big guy and when it didn'f faze him at all Rick calls time out before the guy can hit him back LOL

  • Wow! This theme brings back soooooo many childhood memories! Thanks for posting!

  • I would watch " Matt Houston" right after this. lol

  • I loved this show!!!

  • This theme song fucking rocks!

  • Like most of Mike Post an Peter Carpenter's theme songs: Riptide, The A-Team, Hunter, The Greatest American Hero (Believe It or Not), Street Hill Blues, etc.

  • Hey, Dude! You forgot THE Post/Carpenter Theme Tune - "The Rockford Files" !!! ;-))

The Godmother of 'em all ! :-D

  • Agreed.... Best of all time

  • Interesting way of putting it. CBS does have a pretty rigid formula for its shows. Only the main characters vary as the stories are generally cut from the same assembly line. With that said, it was still a pretty entertaining show and holds up better today than many others from that era. The theme songs from 80s shows are what I miss the most. Seems like most of them had memorable intro music back then...even mediocre shows.

  • yeah, that was my favorit tv-show when i was a child. hope to see this again in germany.

  • This show doesn't get the attention it should.

  • one of may fave shows as a kid in 80's. loved its generic music of bluesy cool guitar lines. amazing just to look back and see how this show & its music also played an important role turning me on to guitars..

  • Im Original lief die im Abendprogramm?

Bei uns lief die schon im Vorabendprogramm. Ich fand sie damals richtig gut!

    Danke schön!

  • Oh yes I do, but I do not know the abbrevation 'FAG'. I suppose you don't think about the German "Feldarbeitsgerät", do you?

If I would have told everybody that the show was broadcastet at 6pm, nobody would have cared, but now you know, the show was also on TV in Germany.

I know, I am very kind.

But what does your FAG mean?

    "Friendly and German"?

  • LOL, you don't wanna know, happy new year anyways!

  • Frohes neues Jahr!

    ehem... sorry, in English:

    Happy New Year!

  • In British English, "fag" is slang for "cigarette". In American English, "fag" is slang for "homosexual".

  • Thank you!

  • This show should have been a lot better than it ultimately was. It had cool theme music and a cool pretense, but ultimately it was boring.

  • "i luv this show whe i was growing up..."

yeah so did i!!! only FAGS like paktype didn't like it, he should keep his ugly pie hole shut

  • i luv this show whe i was growing up...

  • starts out like Jesse's Girl hehe

  • Whose singer acted alongside McRaney in an episode of THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

  • Uh.....KISS? Was it Paul Stanley?

Just kidding. I give up. Who?

  • Rick Springfield!

  • Could the utter menly sexiness be any higher?

  • I have a fever. A Fever for more Cowbells. Think this theme had the most use of cowbell in the 80s than any other.

  • YEAH ... the theme song was REALLY HYPE ... but lookin' back / the show could have been better ... kinda like a RIPTIDE (show) UPGRADE HUH ???... but we were kids so it was just entertaining for the time.

OH YEAH .... HELLO MR. DELTA BURKE !!!!!

( hahahahahahaha .... had to say that )

  • I never get tired hearing this theme song, even though I was never a big fan of the show when it was on the air. But I love the theme song, and especially this version of the clips they show in the opening - Gerald throwing a punch and immediately calling "time" when the guy doesn't go down, the water out of the boot, the car... *sigh* I miss those days.

  • Funny it was only recently I realised the main reason I liked and watch some shows were how cool the start music was-betrayed by the fact that if I missed the start I never bothered watching it !

  • that into is pure

    funk!!!

  • great

  • Fine and dandy intro. Sweet theme tune, accompanied by the boys in action. Cool.

  • The intro looks good.

  • This intro is from season 7 or 8, after Tim Reid left to do his own show.

  • I didn't watch CBS shows too much during the 80's. Primarily NBC and ABC I watched. I do remember this, however.

  • Yes I agree with you. Nice intro. : )

  • Now this is an intro.

  • Yes, a great intro indeed! This and Magnum PI had two of the best theme songs at the time. Made Thursday nights really worth watching.

  • Yep Thursday nights on CBS was the bomb.

  • One of the series that created the old target of Italia 1 in its golden age, in the Eighties, when seeing that channel had a mean.

  • One of the greatest shows of the 80s.

  • It only seems weak now because we've gotten used to Star Wars level special effects on television. But it was a nice escape..

  • back when gerald mcraney was fuckin delta burke AND SHE WAS HOT

  • Man yeah she was smokin'!!

  • Now they are married.

  • Are they still married? I remember they tied the knot around 88 or 89. That's pretty long for Hollywood.

  • I think they still are.

  • I watched this show in a Spanish speaking country. There was a translation fib where in English the Simon was saying to Simon something like "Hey Simon, if I could speak Spanish, I'd say, buenos dias" or some shit like that. Well, when they translated it to Spanish, they didn't attempt to translate it as "Si hablara Ingles, yo diria Good Morning"... they tranlated it literally. It's one of those things that you remember about a show when you can't remember anything else about it. Cheers!

  • That stuff made the 80´s great!

  • a little known fact, Jameson parker was the original Brad on "One Life To Live'.

  • alright, file that under "who gives a shit?"

  • This song can be used as currency in some places.

  • This is definitely a much later opening from a much later ep. of S&S, b/c Jameson Parker looks older and his hair is much shorter than it was from the earlier seasons. Mary Carver has permanent star billing in the opening credits as opposed to whenever she's present in an episode from earlier seasons, and Joan McMurtey has billing when she's present in an episode.

  • Loved when this theme played ,very distinguished.

  • I always liked that show and that song.

  • The two most serious episodes I remember were when AJ listened over the phone to his mother being attacked and when Rick had to physically take down AJ after he was given some kind of drug.

  • Do you happen to know the name of the episode you are referring when he was given the drug? That is one of the few I remember and as they are reairing these on Sleuth I thought I would try and catch that one again.

  • This show was the reason my brother and I wanted to be private Investigators, I was licensed in Iowa in 1998. My brother is a Janitor at a Wal-Mart all I can say is follow your dreams. I am now looking to be a TV private Eye and was an extra in one of Gerald Mcrany's movies in 1990.

  • S&S were okay.... Happened to pick up DVD season 1... Not the greatest show..But decent... Better than a lot of the shows around then.. It is a decent change And if you can pick it up fr under $30 the DVDs would be worth getting.

  • This show was spin-off from "Magnum P.I."

  • No--it was an original show. What you're thinking of is close though--to boost falling ratings for S &S, Magnum and S & S did a split episode--one week the two shows merged with each other, and played back to back as a two-hour special, as I recall.

  • this is actually the opening credits of one of the later seasons - the first one was even cooler. the series itself too became weaker as it went on (as it always does) - the first was great the second still good but the rest really bad...

  • I agree. The first season was the best and I liked the first song the best. I watched Simon and Simon every week faithfully!

  • One of the best 80's TV theme songs! Watched this one all the time when I was kid. Good stuff!

  • are you kidding? this show is awesome. thanks!

    dan

  • Loved the opening of this show, but I must admit to never actually watching an episode.
