Vai and Satriani are both brilliant in this - possibly never better. Fripps' solo fits well but his withdrawal from the trade-offs seems to bring out the best of the other two. Vai's lines at 5:42 and again at 6:10 are mind-blowing! And the harmonies after that, weaving in and out of each other? Perfect!
I don't know if it the fact that the audio for this vid is just really crappy or what.....but this is a fairly shitty performance by both Joe and Vai. Vai sounds like he's playing off key. Their cover of this song during the Malmsteen G3 tour was WAY better than this. It just has something magical about it. Its not Malmsteen's playing that made it better, but I think Vai and Joe were both challenged to be much better during that performance and that tour in general. JMHO. **out**
robert fripp is the man, Jesus of progressive rock movement and one of the greatest tehnicali giffted and creative guitarist composers/ just listen to KC stuff...then you have a overrated guitsrist in rank of steve vai and joe stariani who sounds like a better soundtrack for need for speed 3 computer game..very poor and uncreative guitar players...when i watch them i get bored to tears...if you want real G3 watch Al Di meola, Paco de Lucia and John mcalughlim mediterranean Sundance
me podria decir alguien que fua a ver este exelente recital que paso con robert fripp? estaba enojado o algo por el estilo? porque toca atras a oscuras? se enojo por algo? si alguien se copa y sabe que paso me gustaria saber. saludos.
If you listen carefully Fripp covers the whole basis here - he gives the entire substance to the sound from 0 to 11'13". Why start showing off if you can do the important part?
@spicken Come on,dont start inventing shit,man...he was a stupid choice for a g3,king crimson,yes,historical band,but not a good choice for g3,awful,G2
Was this recorded straight off the tv? I kept hearing a bong. Fripp, always the disciplinarian, seems like an odd choice for this bill. I have many bootlegs that say he wouldn't have a problem in shred mode. I only looked at this video to hear how he played this stuff. I wonder if he did the whole tour in the shadows. Who would have thought he'd ever play Neil Young? Another odd choice.
While not as flashy (and not that flashy is necessarily bad), Robert's lines in the background sounded pretty ripping; I wish he was mixed up a bit more.
