  • i have to sing an Italian aria for school and picked this one and i LOATHE learning another language especially with singing and this video really helped me and i do admit that there were some flaws but i appreciate the fact you put it up anyway for people like me, so thanks and good job! :D

  • * vibrato I mean

  • I am only 13 and I have to learn this for my singing lessons...... soo nervous seeing that I barley have any vibration in my voice

  • @crazymelody18 Don't worry about that. At your age, vibrato hasn't usually developed, and a lot of young singers who are trying to force the vibrato into the sound actually do unhealthy things to their voices.

I actually didn't have any vibrato going into college. My high school choir teacher essentially trained it out of me, and then I had my tonsils out when I graduated. And at 18, you should have vibrato! So we spent a lot of time trying to get me to sing freely in my first year.

  • @kawiah But you're just 13, and a lot of girls are either still in or coming out of that breathy sound at that point. So just focus on the good breathing and placement I'm sure your teacher is telling you, and let the vibrato come naturally. That's the best thing you can do! If you sing this piece with a clear and free tone, it'll sound beautiful even without vibrato.

  • @crazymelody18 : Some children have vibrato around 8 but, it's more common on a later age.

  • @starchix01 i had mine around 8 :)

  • thanks for posting this powerful interpretation...beautiful!

  • @neelsdp1 Thank you. :)

  • @kawiah i should have added powerful emotions and voice.

  • Your vibrato was shaky and much too tight, and it sometimes affects your pitch. Stand up straight, haha! You're totally leaning. And your mouth is too closed for the beautiful Italian. And you cut off of phrases much too sharply.

-Conservatory student performing this song who has had teachers critcally bash it for hours

  • @AuiaRose

lol, Thanks for the pointers. I certainly sing this song better than I used to. I remember when it felt really high for me.

Are you still in conservatory? Where do you go?

  • You have an amazing voice. I chose this song for an audition simply because it was only a page long and it was from an opera called "Ariana", which is my name.

  • Way better than I was expecting when I clicked on the link! Great job.

  • nice job, you've got a nice voice. i'm working on this song for my voice lessons, and your video is helping me practice.

  • im doing this piece for school & i was having trouble with expressing the sadness of the song . after watching this it helped me understand it more though so thanks (: good job too !

  • @missdjdanga I'm glad this helped you out. That's a large part of why I put my videos on youtube, so that others can learn from it, good and bad. :)

Did your performance turn out well at school?

  • this was great, much better than I expected... ppl here on youtube open the mouth and it's mostly shit....

but you're great, since the beginning, fabulous

and gosh, that's old, I would really love to hear your new performances *_*

  • i am sorry but i dont love opera i was think it was something else

  • I sang this for solo/ensamble too. Just on saturday. It's a beautiful song. :) I got superior for being a freshman and singing it like a junior/senior. <3

  • congrats i am a freshman as well & im goin in may that is when we have ours

  • Beautiful! I'm singing this for solo ensemble at school!

  • I'm doing this piece for a performance next month- you did really amazing!

  • @SomeoneSmiles Same here!

  • wow what a beautiful voice i bout cried lol it is like i am in the situation their and i UNDERSTAND !!!

  • I'm glad my performance made you really feel something. That means a lot to me. :)

  • wow that was better than i expected nice job! you have the right voice for this piece

  • Thank you! :)

  • I love this song! I have used it for a few different auditions because it fits my vocal style quite nicely. The only problem is that I'm a bass, so I have to sing it in a nice, low key.

But yeah, a good performance. You have a very rich voice, but you sounded very nervous. How many people were here?

  • @199022008

Thank you! It is a very nice song. :)

Some of my teachers and peers have told me that I have a warm voice too, and I think it's become consistently warmer even as my range has gone up a little bit.

The recital hall is pretty small. There were only about 50 people there. But it was my first recital as a freshman in college, so I was definitely a little nervous. :)

  • This was beautiful. Your's is one of the best versions I found on this site. I'm currently working on this song (in the lower key) and I have been listening to others sing it looking for inspiration. Your voice is very rich. Beautiful.

  • the head down thing..at the end kinda scary...

  • wat key was this in?

  • f minor I believe. Not certain though.

  • beginning and ending of the song is most important that's what the ear remembers

your first notes where to forced and loud try to control that otherwise you have a shortlived climax with no foreplay and as we all know it is not worth remembering.

    otherwise lovely voice. thanks

  • You have a lovely voice! It's not quite the sort I would normally associate with baroque - you're singing more in the style of later opera - but it is still beautiful to hear.

I am currently trying to learn this piece, and I've chosen your video from the many available for two reasons. First of all, you have a voice I like to listen to, and secondly you stick to the music as it is written, which many performers don't. Since I have a decent voice but can't sight-read, that matters. :-)

  • Good job! I have to sing this so i can get accepeted to an arts school!

  • I just got this piece in feb and i have to have it memorized by march AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Thanks for posting it was good

  • It's really not that tough to memorize it, just go over it enough so it's internalized

  • great singing!

  • oh my gosh i have 2 sing this for a school thing and im only 12!!!!

  • You have a stable, rich voice!! I favourited this one - so I can learn from you. I'm learning opera now, so I need all the inspiration I can get!

  • Well thank you! That's so nice of you. :)

I must say, in the time since I performed this piece, I think one of the best things I've started to learn is keeping the center of my breath lower in my belly and more relaxed. It gives a lot more support.

Let me know if you put up some videos of yourself singing--I'd love to hear it!

  • This sounds great! Good job!

I have to sing this for solo and ensemble soon in Feburary.

  • Good luck! I really enjoyed singing it, and I hope you will too.

  • good!

  • Tu vos esta muy engolada estas usando mucho la garganta, y tu vibrato es nuy forzado, no es natural. =)

Translate this if you want =)

  • Aw, I tried, but it's not coming out quite right. I don't know this language, and I think the translation program is confused. :)

  • OK YOU have done nothing but insult eveyone who has put a vidoe of this song up eveyone has a different voice if you have something stupid to stay ... dont.. prick

  • I'm sorry, are you talking to me or Flaiguz? I'm not certain...

  • something about your vibrato sounding forced/unatural

    I must disagree

  • Hello - the title is Lasciatemi with a "t" not an r. Where are the coaches and teachers? they should be punished!

  • Yes, I know that. I am singing it with a dental t. I have never sung it with an r. If you're hearing it that way, however, it's something I will listen for if I sing this piece in the future. It may have something to do with how closely the two are articulated with the dental t and the flipped r.

I think you can hear better that I'm singing it with a t around 0:15, on the chromatic ascending line.

Thank you for your comment. :)

  • WOW!!! This is like SOOOOOO much better than the version I did!

    That was awesome

  • Thank you! I worked very hard on it. This was a good growth piece for me. I learned some good technique.

  • yeah, its a pretty good song for diction and pronunciation especially, with the Italian. It also helped me a lot with breathing techniques

  • Yeah, it really worked my breath too! Sometimes I was like dying on the vine while I was learning this piece. lol

  • Oh how pretty! I was upset you did not include the run at the end, I would have loved to have heard your voice doing the ending. Beautiful.

  • Thanks! Yes, I didn't get to add any ornaments to this piece. I am, however, going to sing "Care selve" in a recital in a few weeks and am working on adding some baroque trills to that. :)

  • What an awesome voice. Very expressive not only vocally but facially as well.

  • Thank you! I really tried to capture the mood of the piece with my face as well. I always think it's a shame when someone sings a piece well but with a completely deadpan expression.

    Thanks for the comment. :D

  • Cool! Loved the vocals Lauren! And I just love that dress you're wearing!

  • Excellent performance! You understand the text which is a big plus. I would suggest going for brighter vowels and vibrating every note.

  • Thank you!

Yes, we have to know all of our translations. It's a big component of a good performance, because your interpretation of the meaning and mood shows up on your face and changes the musicality.

I'll keep your suggestions in mind. :)

  • That's my awesome roommie!!! You look so serious :3
