a song i cant miss whatsoever...always will be my #1 song no matter how many thousands of songs i download... nothing beats this...
no matter what the world makes in the coming years.. this song is an epic its evergreen..its the best of the best of the best ... from the lyrics to the composition to the powerful vocals of willy finlayson its simply is phenomenal ....willy has tremendous vocal quality
Willy and the Hurters used to perform every Sunday in the hall attached to the Turks Head in Twickenham. The Hurters lineup varied but used to include Micky Moody from Whitesnake, Brian from the Strawbs and rumour has it a Mr. Clapton even got up and joined them. Willy also brought out the iconic "Skye Boat Song". Excelent version but brought out same time as , ahem, Des O'Connor brought out same version. Des had the hit. 'On the Air Tonight' was also used as a jingle on Radio 1 by Bruno Brooks.
Brings back some great memories, listening to this..warm summer nights, windows open, curtains barely twitching in the gentlest breeze..ahh...Julie, I wonder how you're doing now? :-)
I've been looking for this (literally) since it first came out; on hearing it on a local countdown of the British Charts.... then on Nightmare on Elm Street....
I have another version by the same artist, but this one is the better of the two!
I bought (and still have) this record and on the strength of it went to see Willy in a pub in Brentford (The Red Lion?) one Sunday lunchtime when I happened to be in London for a training course. Great song - this should have been a massive hit.
@rokusho63 Hey - thank you for that - bit sketchy now (it was 1992 I think - same day as the London Marathon) but I do recall getting the train from Waterloo to Brentford and that the station was a tidy walk from the pub - but I got to see Willy sing live and have a word with him. Shame about the pub - it seemed a decent place and a good music venue
I ♥ this song!!! I only heard it a few times on the West German and Polish radio in the 80s but was very impressed. It kind of reminds me of Billy Idol (Eyes Without A Face) and Paul Young.
Everytime someone uploads this track, YT removes it in no time. Hopefully, it's here to stay for good this time...

Now THAT's what I call music!
Mr Finlayson has been absent from You Tube for far too long now.
Thanks for putting that right.
