My golden does the same thing when he's starting to lose patience. Like you're telling him something that he doesn't understand and keep repeating and repeating after a while he'll do that. It's like he's saying: "I don't understand you dummy". I love that dog.
yep! that's great! doggies will offer different behaviors if they are confused at what you want, and oftentimes barking is one of those. dogs are very smart, and if you start pairing that action with the command, i'm sure he'll pick up on it pretty quickly! then it becomes a game and not just a "oh, you stupid human" thing. :)
it's probably easiest to teach it by capturing the dog in the act. if your dog starts to bark, pair that with a command and praise him even though he's doing it on his own. pretty soon, he'll pair the two together and know that if you say "speak!" or whatever command, that you are asking him to bark. it's not easy.. all training comes with lots of hard work for both you and the dog:) good luck!
"oh way cool!! how do you get your dog to do that??"
I think I may have accidentally deleted this comment from spazzydeath, sorry... To answer your question, we used the capture training method where you catch your dog barking, and you pair it with a command. Pretty soon, with enough practice, your dog will know to bark when you give a command such as speak or talk! :) Pretty simple.. just takes lots of patience. Good luck!

@Gir1453 We've taught him to bark on command. :) We give him a hand signal and he barks.
