Actually itachi gave sasuke defense against madara with the last of his chakra, then due to loss of chakra, itachi died :(

@XylerKaguya Itachi didn't have a diesease but he was unwell. He was losing his sight and strength due to his eye ability (I don't remember the name). He died by running out of chakra after giving all he had to sasuke (his powers).
