  • Good: Somehow reached 25 years Water Astro Turf Hydrometer Bad: No Calci Dish 1 hide No Heat Gauge No Light ... Could be improved ... ..you agree?
  • @HYLGBow The family who had her for 15 years before me used an upside down woven basket hide and fed her a pinkie a month. That's it. I guess I could've gotten the other stuff but I wasn't really going for a world record. Good suggestions though.

  • @rcocker Well then I suppose thats ok ...sort of ... yea anyway ... My gecko is a rescue gecko too! :D

Mine was left for 2 weeks in a park in summer and barely had anything to eat and someone found her under a bin ... I now have her...shes 3 :)

  • how many gallons is your tank?

  • how do you clean its poop off of the astro turf?

  • I got a question I just got a leopard gecko don't you need a humid hide for shedding?

  • @ShamEqualsFake Yes, it is best to have a humid hide. Dink has had trouble shedding and a humid hide would've made that easier.

  • how hot is your tank

  • @TheSnarfal Tank is probably in the mid to high 70s Fahrenheit. I never stuck a thermometer in there but its always been a little warmer than my house which is kept in the low 70s.

  • @goldendude909090 Geckos actually more prefer to be alone, and if you dont want mating it wont work, because two male/female geckos will pose territory issues and can result in serious injury, and housing with the opposite sex will leed in breeding.

  • shes cute :)

  • i m subbin

  • i luv setups like this very simple yet affectiv luv it!

  • That's incredible. I heard they could last between 10-20 years, but Dink is proof that proper care can grant a gecko even longer. I salute you, good sir !

I actually just got a leopard gecko. I've had him/her for about a month and 1/2 now, give or take. I was wondering if there were any little tidbits you could give me to help his/her longevity. So far, he/she seems just fine, but being new to the reptile world, I can't help but be worried about it. Also, I'm not sure of the gender yet. XD

  • @Pikmaniak i just recently got my two year old leopard gecko, Martin. He is a male, and sexing adult geckos is easy. Martin has a bump right under where the tale meets the body, and if you look at them belly side up you may be able to see a v in scales in that area, being a male. If you have any questions hit me up(:

  • @yehhuhhx3 Well, unfortunately, I'll never know my Leo's gender, as he died about 3-4 months ago... 8,C

He was bitten on his tongue or something, and refused to eat, so he never made it, and I found him on his back in his cage, shortly after I came home from work.

  • @Pikmaniak Sorry it took me so long to read this, and sorry about your gecko.

  • Im wondering about the shed box. You never supplied one or that you chose to have the cage neater for this video?

  • I don't have a good shed box solution right now. I've switched out her hide with a shed box when she's shedding but that's not ideal. She gets confused wondering where her cave went. I'm looking at an elevated hide that holds moss and moisture that I'll make more moist when she's shedding. The aquarium is too small for both and I don't want to freak her out by getting a big aquarium after she has been in this one for 25 years.

  • wow a gecko can live this long with like two things in its cage?!?!?!?!

  • @ohhmarr77 Apparantly yes, her cage has always been this simple.

  • nice, simple cage. neat and clean too! 5/5

  • That's a nice lookin' Gecko, but the enclosure looks kinda bare 'n' boring, sorry, but perhaps you could make it a bit more interesting.

  • Advice, put calcium in a dish in dinks cage, it will keep him extra healthy!

  • @LeopardGeckoGalore Thanks. The crickets I feed her are gut loaded with calcium, but I should put a calcium bowl in there. She has eaten it in the past.

  • how did you manage to make the leopard gecko survive 25 years?

  • is she still here today

  • the cage looks kinda boring no affence but does it get tired of the same hide and same water dish?

  • Dink's cage is sparse but changing scenery is actually stressful for a gecko. Sometimes I do wish that Dink had a more interesting cage.

  • Aw, I love your videos of Dink. I've had two of my 3 leopard geckos for almost a year but I hope to have them for many more.

  • I read the longest a leopard gecko lived in captivity is 25 years. is Dink the one who made that record? They usually only live into their teens.

  • how did you keep your gecko alive for so long

  • thats amazing so u grew up with it im i right

  • you spelled 'am' wrong

  • I am going to get a heat pad tomorrow but could it get too hot and maybe even burn the table i have my gecko's cage on?

  • no it wont

  • if your worried about burning your table, put a 100% cotton towel under the heat pad. if its not cotton it could melt.

  • how much does astro turf cost

  • @tw833 You can get 40 Gallon ExoTerra Reptile Carpet for about $11.99

  • Dink has been alone for 25 years. Although a companion might make life more interesting, it is also more stressful for the gecko.

  • so artificial turf is better than sand?rite now i have sand for my gecko he is turning 4 this month nd he is very healthy i feed him mealworms every 3 days he doesnt really like crickets, do you think i should switch to artificial turf or keep sand cuz he has been on it for the last 4 yrs?

  • The danger with sand is that it sometimes gets in their mouth and it isn't good for their digestive system. Generally speaking, your gecko has a better chance of living longer with bedding that it won't accidentally eat.

  • thanks for responding

  • i feed mine in a critter keeper for crickets and for meal worms i keep them in a bowl... mine has no prob with sand

  • if hes been fine on sand this long he will not have any probs i just suggest keeping food off sand... mealworms in dish and krickets in seperate cage.

  • yup i feed him mealworms from a bowl

  • you spelled 'crickets' wrong

  • thanks.. clearly you are a superior human cause i messed up a word...

  • yep bitch

  • @eagles36rules I started out with sand and switched to reptile carpet, and my gecko was fine, and he has been on sand for all his life. If you dont want to switch, i would advice feeding him his mealworms in a dish. I noticed that when he was on sand he never showed any interest in catching the crickets, but when i switched to turf he goes wild over them. Therefore i much prefer carpet.

  • its kinda small lol!

  • I am really looking forward to hearing your tips! Great job!

  • why does he only have 1 hide? shouldnt he have a humid hide, cold hide, and hot hide...

  • Look how great Dink's doing without all that big larry.

  • Great question. I put a humid hide in the cage when Dink is about to shed.

  • my under tank heater lasted about 4 years aswell then they kind of fall off and dont do much

  • this just shows how leopard geckos DONT NEED that much in their tanks ...

  • 25 years old :O ur doin good

  • That's amazing, Dink is older than me! Great vid!

  • the most basic of cages seems to be better

  • HOW CUTE! :D

  • Wow, wonder if Dink will live to thirty ot even more. I subbed to you!

  • lol go to 1:10 "as long as its not in the yellow or the green she does ok" lol LOL lol LOL

  • You're right! I'm colorblind. I guess I mean that as long as it's not in the yellow or RED she does ok. I thought the RED was green, whoops. lol

  • The most basic of cages has the most healthy of lizards.

  • that has been proven right on many ocations, like this one

  • lol what about the moss hid or cold dose not mater you no what your doing its 25 years old good luck with dink

  • its wierd how his cage is soo basic, and has had a long life, ironic isnt it?

  • Its perfect. Basic is perfect.

  • You should get repti-carpet. Its cool how dink likes not much in her cage

  • I think he knows how to take care of his gecko...

  • obviosly, lol. but repticarpet looks better

  • I've used repti-carpet before and it worked well. I didn't like having to stretch it back into shape after each washing. I still think it's one of the best 2 or 3 beddings for geckos.

  • 24 YEARS OLD! Damn.

    5/5

  • I MEAN 25 YEARS OLD!

  • sweet
