  • Great show!

  • fuck.... HOW I MISS THE REAL SCI-FI TV!! NOT THIS SHIT OF THIS GAY VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES, FUCK!!

  • @malvelus Completely agree. There's no proper sci.fi show currently running today. It's sad.

  • Очень красивый, трогательный и эпический клип получился! Чувствуется не поддельная любовь и уважение к "Вавилону". И это прекрасно, что у этого отличного сериала есть настоящие преданные любители. Замечательная работа!

  • This clip sends shivers down my back every time I see it.

  • they could have recycled it.

  • It's kinda sad the way they flew up the station. I mean, Babylon 5 was the tool that allowed all the races to build a better future. It was a symbol of peace and empathy between diferent races. And in the end, they simply destroy it.

  • one of the most "final" series finale you could ever get. you feel that this truly is "the end" for good and it hurts.

this is the most emotionally charged series i've ever seen

  • Lights off for the very best syfy series in all times!

    Than you and good bye!

    You will be missed!!

  • Babylon 5 is the greatest TV show of all time. Sleeping in Light is one of the reasons for that. Instead of ending the story in a flurry of action like DS9, BSG or Farscape, the final episodes of B5 are all about the characters, and contain almost no action. I love this show so much. I'm crying as I type this, thinking about all the great moments over the five seasons. Vale Rick, Andreas and Jeff.

  • @zingzangspillip1 - I have season 5 on DVD as a Christmas gift, & it's worth it just for the finale. DS9, Stargate SG1, SGA & BSG left some unresolved questions, but there was no doubt that this was THE END of Babylon 5 & there would be no " return " for Pres. Sheridan or no " Babylon 6 ". Crusade should've had a chance, though, even though it was neither a sequel nor a Caprica - like " prequel ".

  • I grew up watching this show, it was and is the BEST sci-fi show for me. I remember when i was a kid i cried when the station crumbled in fire, cried so much that i even ran away to hide. After that i haven't cried for about a decade or even more. And now here i am again, shedding tears for one of best things i had in my life. Babylon 5. God bless the entire cast and crew. I'll miss those who have passed away.

  • i just finished watching season 3 and season 4 of babylon 5. God bless Jeff Conaway !

Babylon 5 was the best sci fi show so far.

  • I still go back every 3-4 months and spend a week watching Babylon 5 from start to finish, all 5 seasons and the original movies. I really wish Crusade had been better, or watchable, but I own it too out of loyalty and I've watched the entire thing once.

But yeah, I watch this and I get a little choked up still, and I watch the Memorial video for Andreas and I cry, I got to meet him once, got his autograph, and then the next year he was dead, it was a shock. G'kar was as dynamic as it gets.

  • this is my fave movie series

  • I must say that I am a big fan of Space Opera, and this is among the best of them ever. The acting for the most part was first rate, and the visual effects were better than any I have seen before or since for this genre. I never got to see the entire series, but for as long as I could, I watched it week after week without fail. It would be nice to see the show run again on TV so that those of us who missed some of the important events could finally see them.

  • Wow! I remember seeing the ending all those years ago and it still blows me away today. Babylon 5 really connected with me. Fantastic story, Great acting and special effects. Cant believe that Andreas Katsulas, Richard Biggs, Tim Choate and Jeff Conaway have passed away since then. It's as if I knew them personally.

It's made me want to see the whole thing all over again.

  • can u believe Jerry Doyle isnt acting anymore? He's doin books n radio on politics or something.....

  • its 2011 and i finally watched babylon 5 on the ultimate boxset, all 5 seasons in a row, im a 27 man but i cried like a small girl when the ships all turned from babylon 5 and the ship blow up with that amazing music. what a amazing show.

  • @TheJonmather It was so amazing, my fav sci fi series of all time

  • Damn i mis this so much

  • Probably the only show that will ever make me cry over the destruction of an inanimate object.

  • This was best series finale i ever seen.

  • I still get tears in my eyes no matter how many times I watch this.

  • This is why B5 is better than star trek, every time the Enterpise is destroyed they build another one. Babylon 5 is ireplaceable

  • THE best sci fi ever created. Paved the way for other quality project like BSG.

RIP Andreas Katsulas, Richard Biggs, Tim Choate and Jeff Conaway. You are missed.

  • I got one word for you....

    PEACE!

  • Made me cry

It's incredible. Arguable one of the BEST SciFi series ever created.

  • Love them showing the show's crew in the final credits, too. Also, don't forget to RIP Tim Choate (Zathras), killed in a motorbike accident in 2004.

  • @arwelp they forgot to add Michael O'hare

  • @ingotjuh you are right i for got about that

  • @thominaterx Michael O'Hare made this series big. He was the power that kept people watching through Season 1! THE BASTARDS OF ISN!

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Except the main difference between BSG and Babylon 5 is that Babylon 5 did it a good 5 years before BSG was even thought to be remade. Just goes to show how many series steal from the greatness that is Babylon 5.

  • Babylon 5 is/was and probably always will be the best stroy arc ever on TV.

  • Marcus Cole: "Comments: Indefinite hold in the event of new resurrection technology. Requested by Commander S. Ivanova."

I missed that the first time, and seeing it now adds quite a punch. This is one of the greatest series finales on television, befitting one of the greatest science fiction shows of all time.

  • Such an excellent show.

  • amillionmonkeys.blog.com aren't you curious?

  • Tears falling on my face.

  • Say what you will, there's more punch in the last 15 minutes of this series finale than most of the Trek finales in their entirety. Except maybe for Next Gen's "All Good Things"

Mind too, I'm also a Trek fan... to many of their 'season finales' were so weak... Voyager especially, no tying up of loose ends. Just an ending that could have been the ending of any other episode in the series. :p

  • awesome! just awesome! I too like so many fans tear up during this scene... especially when J Michael is the one who flips the switch!

  • My friend recommended this show, and though it started off slow, the character interactions and personalities really made you care as the later seasons just got better and better. Enjoyed it a lot!!

  • I loved this series, it was amazing

  • Babylon 5 was the best sci-fi show ever in my opinion but the show never got the recognition it deserved especially here in the U.S. because it was overshadowed by Star Trek and The X-Files which was on the air at the same time as B5 and was virtually ignored by the mainstream media. I hope one day that Warner Bros. decide to make a Babylon 5 movie and see the Jeffrey Sinclair story arc the way it was originally intended and the war of the Shadows and Vorlons with the sfx they have today.

  • Maybe I'm just put off because the centauri look retarted. Lol.

  • @HeroicSandwich You need to watch longer than 5 minutes, the 1st episode I was put off because of the bad hairday, but now i've watched all 5 seasons and movies. You need to look past the looks and live yourself into the story.

  • Everytime this ending makes my cry. And I have seen Spartacus, and every other good serie. In my heat, Babylon 5 is the best, now and forever.

  • How could someone call this better than BSG?

  • @IntangiblyEpic Because it is :)

  • @IntangiblyEpic Because Babylon 5 didn't fuck up it's ending, actually had some humour and was far more emotionally fulfilling then BSG

  • @IntangiblyEpic Because in general, it is. BSG had better effects, fairly better acting and was good in it's own right, but from beginning to end, B5 was simply better.

I even liked the last episode of Battlestar. Just not nearly as much as Sleeping in Light.

  • @TheHorribleSmell Better acting!!!!! All I have to say to that is Andreas Katsulas, Mira Furlan and Peter Jurasik. Act the socks off of anyone in BSG!!!!!

  • @ShortStackB5 I know. I meant that in the sense of everyone on the show. Some of B5's extras were a little off, and a lot of Season 1 was... eh.

I'm more than aware that no one on BSG was at Katsulas's or Jurasik's level, which is why I said "fairly better acting," not "better acting." And like I said, Babylon 5 was without question the better show.

  • @TheHorribleSmell Season 1 was a great season. Don't talk shite

  • @ingotjuh Oh, Goddamn it, I give up.

  • @TheHorribleSmell - Some of the commenters here may want to skin me alive for saying this, but I saw some similarities btwn John / Delenn & Laura Roslin / Adama. Just generally. Sheridan had 20 years of life given to him after being brought back by Lorien. Laura R. had a reprieve from her cancer because of the Cylon child's cells given to her. Similarities btwn. Lennier / Felix Gaeta. Garibaldi / Saul Tigh. But B5's finale was MUCH better than BSG's.

  • Anyone know what happened to Sharon Annett who played Garibaldis daughter?

According to IMDb she never apeared in anything else after this.

  • Now you know how the people at NASA felt when the Space Shuttle Program came to an end. :(

  • The best damn sci-fi series of all time. The Battlestar Galactica reboot runs a close second though.

  • Just as Sinclair saw in his vision.

The shuttle leaving, then the destruction of Babylon 5.

Guess he didn't change anything after all.

  • @TheJboy88 Context is everything. He didn't stop the station from being destroyed, but he changed the reason *why* it was destroyed. That was enough.

  • I cry every time I watch this.

I saw it on TV when I was a kid, and I bawled.

  • the scene where Delen is sitting alone on the bench, and then the camera angle changes and Sinclair is sitting by her.... pure genius

  • @gkapitso

    Sinclair!!??

  • @gkapitso

    lol

Sinclair. What is he doing together with Delenn? ;)

  • the best sci-fi serie

  • They should have included Jeff O'Hare in the final credits, show him as Sinclair and as Valen. He was the star of season one after all, and his character was very important in the story.

  • @Mrblancnoir I've been saying the same thing man! And if you notice at the toast, nobody said goodbye to Lyta or Sinclair.

  • Rest In Peace.. Jeff Conway.. (sob) :u(

  • @Y9Power No way, him too? Damn..

  • i have such a strange feeling. im looking at garibaldi, franklin and other and im like oh my god, they experienced here sooo many. you can see how emotional it is for them and so it is for me. it bring tears to my eyes...

  • Waterfalls each time!! What a farewell!

  • The best sci-fi series ever.Nothing else is even close.

  • Goodbye Zack Allen...... Jeff Conaway

  • I just love the music at 1:57. Certainly the best of the series.

This show was so great. I just finished it a week ago. Haven't seen the movies, though!

  • and thus Draal is left to watch the events of the time go by, waiting for another to come and build a station around Epsilon III

  • i crying :D

  • sunday night 29/5/11 this show was one of the few things i could let myself go to the tears still flow every time i only ever cried once to star trek and that was when spock died and i was 10!

  • sunday night 29/5/11 this show was one of the few things i could let myself go to the tears still flow every time

  • It brought tears to my eyes seeing this clip again and remembering that some of the people who brought something special to the show are no longer with us.

Katsulas, Biggs and now Conaway.... RIP to you all and thank you for making my childhood so unforgettable.

  • Why would you blow up something so impiortant to your history? Why not make it a museum?

  • @olivemike81 seriously, 5 miles of station, talk about a huge museum of the wars!

  • @olivemike81 seriously, 5 miles of station, talk about a huge museum of the wars!

    RIP Jeff, Richard, Andreas.

  • @olivemike81 - JMS explains that it was too costly to keep running when it wasn't been used, and turning a 5 mile long station into a museum would be a huge and expensive undertaking. Plus, the EA couldn't leave it there for squatters to use, abuse, or scavenge for weapons and tech. It had to go.

But what B5 did would live for a thousand years :) And the show...lives forever.

  • RIP Jeff.

  • RIP Jeff, you helped make a wonderful story.

  • Sleeping in light: Richard Biggs (Dr. Franklin), Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar), and Jeff Conaway (Zack Allan). Till we meet beyond the rim.

  • They finally turned off the lights Jeff R.I.P Good sir <3

  • hi B5 fan forever,i just read that doctors in california are taking Jeff Conaway off life support then i came here and looked at this prefect ending to a great show that has graced us with its magic, power and insight into life from a different perspective

yes i do admit hearing about conaway and seeing this i did cry a little.very sad ending but it also enlightening the commentary from susan ivanova is so true."we have to creat the future and care for one another" and i agree blessing to all

  • So sad that Richard Biggs never got to see grey hair.

  • There are so few films or TV shows that make me emotional, but I cry every time I watch that last episode.

  • When they cancelled Babylon 5 I cried for 3 hours. This show will forever have a special place in my heart.

  • @waveringthoughts They didn't cancel the show, it was always slated to be just a 5 year story arc. But since the producers arse-fucked it right from episode 1,it never did reach its true glory, but still came very close.

  • The honor guard is totally badass

  • would be nice if youtube had full episodes

  • @freddifan73 It used to have it up, but it got taken down for copy right issues. Tis how I managed to see it for the first time (and cry like a baby).

  • sheridan and g'kar where babylon 5 for me

  • Everytime I have a decent lengthy vacation that space station reassembles and I watch the entire series. Utter bliss.

  • @unt133

You must see Babylon 5 movie "In The Beginning", then Season 3 episodes War Without End part 1&2, where you see the fate of Londo & G-Kar - chronological order will match.

  • @stescooter100

i ve already seen it, but i still dont know how drakh were defeated? how vir coto was made the emperor? i ve found information that i have to read a book to find out what s happened (wtf!?)

  • @unt133 Some of the events are mentioned during the Babylon 5, of how Londo becomes emperor, as with Vir, but Vir can only be emperor after Londo dies (circa 2280s when he and G'kar kill each other). Others are mentioned in the various movie-sodes, such as TLT, where Prince Vintari (sp?) talks with Sheridan about the rumour of Vir killing his father (a hint of further things to come)

The Drakh storyline, truthfully, I was not that much interested, so I never bothered to research that properly.

  • where i can find the solution of situation in centauri!? i mean londo and g kar death etc? ths 4 all answer!

  • @unt133 The show never gave you more than the basics. But there was a trilogy of books called "Legion Of Fire" which tells you everything that happens with the Centauri after Londo leaves to just after his death. It also tells you what happened with the Keeper that Londo left for the Sheridans's son, David.

  • @JimmyDaKoik tks for the answer, it was what i had been looking for!! :) i wish it had been movie about londo story....:)

  • I sometimes thought the filler episodes lacked a little. But the story arc ones were, imo, simply outstanding television. Congratulations to J. Michael Straczynski - you created a masterpiece that will live on forever. You have - in a sense - immortalized yourself.

  • epic

  • you know althogh B5 was earths last chance of makeing a space station at least make engines in the back like B4 i know this has nothing to do with this

  • Only if there were something to unite our world b5 united the galaxy... best show ever!

  • That made B5 sound special when Ivanova said there will never be another.

  • It was very touching to see ships from all the minor races showing their respects.

  • Oh, how I loved this show. What an amazing ride.

  • The gates can only really be extended to fit something thats nearly a mile in size (The vorlon object in thirdspace) B5 is to big & way to heavy to put through a jump gate as its 5 miles & 2 million 5 hundrad thousand tonnes & hyperspace would drag it down add to that you cant fly it, take it off its axis & all hell breaks loose. And yes i agree this episode brings me to tears not just for whats happening but the tune at the end as she is exploading. Fab stuff

  • This scene (especially the music) brings tears to my eyes no matter how many times I see it....

  • @ericdrumz It always sends a shiver down my spine and feels like I've lost an old friend. The series definently is one of the best and made you feel like you were apart of it and sad to see it end :(

  • @ericdrumz I'm exactly the same!!!

  • @ericdrumz Me to, I think it's the whole switching off the lights bit for me, then blowing up the station we'd come to know and love over 5 seasons.

  • why not bring it back to earth so that if needed to use it agien

  • @catleader2244 I am not sure it would fit through the gate would it? I think that it just was too outdatied to dissassemble and bring back to earth. they probably had better stuff orbiting earth.

  • @pazios2002 but in a episode of B5 lockly spread out the jump gate when the centori where atempting to destroy it. but other wise you're probibly right

  • @catleader2244 Oh crap you are right, I forgot about that. LOL

  • @pazios2002 its okay but it could but that wold ruin the drama effect

  • Man, why blow up aperfectky good space station. You think maybe someone else could have used it? ;)

  • One person posted it in another video about B5 and I completely agree: "this series has never been about Sheridan or Delenn, or Ivanova".

The main characters are Mollari and G'Kar and the main plot is their path to change, their stepwise growth as persons.

It is incredible how a story like that could be left in the shelves and never aired again. It is profound, creative, ample, very well tied up... I wish more people had the chance to see it, so it would enhance sci-fi a bit more.

  • So, I was watching the end of this, at the scene where Delenn is sitting on the bench, and I kid you not, a jet raced by overhead. It was the most perfect timing.

  • I have seen Star Trek....

    I have seen Stargate.....

    I have seen Battlestar Galactica....

But this series my friends is the best sci-fi series in my books

  • @TheAlperino

Couldn't agree more ... I've seen some parts from the first season many years ago. It left a sweet taste in my mouth ..:) Now I'm watching all of them (by order) and I can't sleep and do anything useful until get to the end. These are by all means the best sci-fi series ever made!

  • @TheAlperino

Which ST Series you talk about ? And what is BSG doing on your list ?

While I am huge fan of Babylon 5 and don't want to engage in d.... measuring contest between two epic series, I consider ST TNG to be more mature, relevant and overall better, especially later episodes.

  • @TheAlperino

Which ST Series you talk about ? And what is BSG doing on your list ?

While I am huge fan of Babylon 5 and don't want to engage in d.... measuring contest between two epic series, I consider ST TNG to be more mature, relevant, universall and overall better, especially later seasons. But it's bit apples to oranges. Anyway, no "Darmok", "Measure of Man", "Drumhead", "Inner Light" equivalents are in B5...

  • @AnteyPL

Why wouldn't BSG be on the list?

As for TNG, while I did love the series, I feel saying it is more "mature" is a bit of a stretch. Star Trek will always hold a special place in my heart, but the overall concept of many of the individual episodes plus the general lack of solid ongoing story plot that spans multiple seasons, as opposed to Star early Star Trek series' knack for individual episode plots that all ended in moral teachings, means "mature" isn't the word I'd use.

  • @MrTankums Simply because BSG wasn't original. Not only was it a remake, but it contained a LOT of stolen plots from other series to make it anything more than a cheap rip-off designed to entertain those without the ability to think for themselves.

  • @TheAlperino Coming from someone who has watched the exact same series, I agree

  • @TheAlperino Liked Star Trek, no interest in Stargate, do not like BSG. I totally agree that B5 trumps them all. I felt a great pang of sadness when it came to an end... looking forward to buying the full set on DVD.

  • You maniacs you blew it up! God, damn you! Damn you all to hell! :P lol

  • 1 of best sci fi series made

It was so sad to watch the last episode i had tear in my eye

  • @b7fan So did I. :(

  • It was rather sad to see the destruction of the Babylon 5 station realizing that it fufilled its purpose and what an end it was to a 5 year journey.

  • Still amazing :)

  • Just watched this episode for the 5th time.... it still really chokes me up. I can't help but shed some tears... I pray someday to find my own "Delenn"... :(

  • WHY did they decommission B5?

Think about it, how impractical was that?

  • Once the Alliance was formed B5 was no longer needed and there wasn't nearly as much traffic coming through it anymore. It was too costly to operate at that point and was also considered a hindrance to space travel. That's the official explanation anyway.

  • @Hereticked I see, but surely loads of pieces of wrecked space station that would take a lot of time and effort to clean up would be far more of a hindrance?

I'm just wondering why they didn't simply turn it into a museum.

  • @Keurosaur Well, whatever pieces were left would've been blasted in all different directions into space, so they wouldn't be in that lane of travel anymore. As for a museum, even that would need money and a staff to operate, and a museum that can hold 250,000 people but that nobody is visiting wouldn't be very practical either. I'm not saying JMS' reason for blowing it up was perfect, but it did make some sense. Mainly he did it to provide closure in the storyline.

  • @Keurosaur As Hereticked said, it costs money....and if I recall correctly, the space that B5 occupied had become at this point, with the emergence of the Interstellar Alliance, little more than a "backroad" so to speak. It was no longer the main jumping off point to the other Empires, since more direct routes were now available.

During the early years of B5, JMS was strictly opposed to this universe becoming a franchise ala Star Trek. I saw this as a means of closure and of preventing that.

  • @JimmyDaKoik but then they made the crusade series. LOL Well people change their minds I guess.

  • *J. Michael Straczynski turns out the lights*

    Crap I forgot a flashlight...Hey guys?.....Hello?

    *On the shuttle*

Hey garabaldi, do you feel like we forgot something?

Naw, I raided the bar before we left and grabbed that bottle of 2209...Although...OH CRAP!

    *BOOM*

  • What a great Sci-Fi show ... love it almost as much as Star trek ...

  • The Best of al Babylon 5

  • Best Sci-fi show ever, no contest.

  • Anyone else was expecting Babylon 5 to be transported to the future?

  • I am IN LOVE with Babylon 5 and all of it's characters )':

  • I'm a dyed in the wool Trekker. But I miss B-5 more than I miss any Star Trek series. There is more to learn from B-5 than any Trek episode. I gues I'll give up my Trek ID, now. =Stefan=

  • ill admit i did cry when they blew the station up.

i loved babylon 5, and unlike most recent scifi franchises it actually reached its intended conclusion.

i really liked that it was gritty, had a hell of a cast and was believable, as much as i like Roddenberry's Star Trek, lets face it ... humans are never going to be like that, as a species we will always have an ugly side to us.

  • Claudia Christine (aka Susan Ivanov) did not sign a contract in time to be featured in the final season, they filmed the final episode in season 4 because strykynsi knew how he wanted bab5 to end ... which is a good thing, or she wouldnt of been shown in the final episode, the Episode "A long night in the life on londo Molori" was originally coined " A long Night In The Life Of Susan Ivanov" but was changed for the above mentioned reason that she did not sign her 5th season contract in time.

  • it's amazing how 15 years after it's showing we can begin to see the B5 universe begin to unfold what with the political intrigue, internet technology, and all....

  • it seems like a bittersweet ending for Delenne, Molari, Lennier & Susan...

  • @EasternMerchant Delenn had one of the best endings one could hope for, the same with Susan, when she took up job as head of the Rangers. Londo, Lennier, G'kar and Marcus were the characters that really got the short end of the stick.

  • @Varrenify I think G'Kar had a good send off..he had the message recorded for Ta'lon near the end of season 5.

  • @ColonelJester G'kar was good, but not my favourite character, even though he did understand things more than the others. Zack was great; I appreciated how he made it through everything at the end and still kept most of his humour

  • @Varrenify maybe so, but she became a Widow, and Susan still never found her soul mate becuase the others she gave her heart to always had a tragic end to their life. Sure Delenne will have a safe cushy life and be revered, and sure Susan got a huge promotion, but it's like having half of a cake. :\

  • I miss this show

  • I keep watching the series from beginning to end and I always find myself wishing for a continuation . Then I watched Star Trek enterprise and saw that they would have seriously killed the series if they did. YIKES I guess it must hard to do a continuation without taking away the original magic it brought.

  • THIS SHOW COULD KICK STAR TREK'S ASS ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

  • @bailong329 hey ... i am a Star Trek and a Babyon 5 Fan ... i find both the series equal ...

  • @SecurityEscort well I respectfully disagree. Star Trek always seemed too utopian to me. Babylon 5 is at all that utopian. I always have a problem with that type of theme because I am a firm believer that mankind couldn't ever get to that point where we all start working together we fight over the dumbest things imaginable take the current situation in Cambodia for example that whole war is over a friggin temple for gods sakes how can we possibly work together when we squable over such things.

  • @bailong329 Sorry thats suppose to be Babylon 5 is not at all Utopian.

  • @bailong329 i respect ur opinion completely ... i even agree with u ... but still ... i am watching Star Trek since i am 1 year old ... i simply am a caonvinced trekkie ... nothings gonna chance that xD ... but still Babylon 5 is a great show and i enjoy watching it every time ...
