@humbucker32 yep 47 here and i totally agree with you i was in ireland then which was probably more depressing and music was and had a great influence on people back then.  i think in recession times music comes to the foreground as people express their polical views more and their love and hate for things in our world .Was a graet numan fan myself , Fantastic for its time

Well done Beckie! I learned to play AFE when I was very young, like you I worked out the notes by ear. Numan's written some amazing songs, check out the piano version of Down In The Park. Stunning piece of music.

I went to see Gary Numan with my brother two nights ago at the Edinburgh picture house. I have to say it was utterly phenominal!

Call me a creep but I was that excited that a blood vessel burst in my left eye. And to top the whole night off I caught his plectrum after the encore.

In the beginning the notes are right, but the count is wrong. It' more 1 2 3 4, instead of 1&2 3&4 at the beginning, if that makes sense. Also you are playing some of the electric bass' part on the synth here and there, which has a count more like you are using. The effect is that your version sounds more like happy bouncy pop, than a dark sci-fi lament to having no friends that aren't robots.

Also, if you are able to pick a synth patch with more "dirtiness" to the sound, that would add a lot.

that was actually quite good. Im a big numan fan and can play every synth piece from him. if u like the piano sound of that song listen to a group called An Pearle. Beautiful version. Ill be recording tons of numan demos on my microKORG over next few weeks and posting them up. Maybe we can learn a few things from each other.
