@poolboy22v Now how do you transform what is for all intents and purposes a Catholic Bible into the most beloved Bible for most Protestants? You take all that stuff out. Over the next 200 years of revisions, the KJV became what we hold in our hands today. And the Apocrypha was the last Catholic portion to be removed. It remained until 1826.
Now, I love the KJV. i have read it many times from cover to cover. But let's not build fairy tales around its origin. It was a Catholic Bible.
@poolboy22v Good evening. I hope you are well.Desiderius Erasmus produced the first complete Greek New Testament in 1515 which later became known as the Textus Receptus from which the King James Bible was translated into English.
Erasmus was an avowed Catholic Priest until his death.
The King James translators were Anglican which was considered Protestant only by proclamation of Henry VIII.
@icartoon2 Good morning Sir. What is possible with God is his ability to take a crooked stick and draw a straight line. I sincerely believe that it is possible to take imperfect men who hold questionable theological credentials (i.e. Catholics and Anglicans) with limited access to manuscript evidence, and produce an accurate, though imperfect interpretation of the preserved word ofGod.
God was successful in doing this in the King James Version.
@icartoon2 Do we limit the providence of God to preserve His word when we assume that the "Word of God" has only been produced in one version of the Bible in one language?
How then do you produce the "Word of God" in Chinese? Do you start with the TR, which was written by a Catholic Priest or do you translate the KJV which was written by Anglicans into Chinese?
Why must protestants countinuously depend upon Catholics to produce for them the Word of God?
@poolboy22v Good morning Greg. I hope you are well. You may be correct in your comment. If so, please enlighten me. While you are doing that,, I would like to ask you a question.
For 5500 years of mankinds existance, where was the word of God enshrined. In other words, when David penned Psalms 12.6, where were "the words of the Lord"?
I may not know everything, but I would love to share what we both know. Iron sharpening Iron.
@poolboy22v Just as I thought. A lot of panache and no substance. Just like most KJV onlyist. You make statements like this with much bravado, but you can not answer a simple question.
Are you going to attempt to answer my question, Big Boy?
I only use The JHV Bible

The KJV translators were brilliant men,for whom we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude for producing the wonderful KJV.
However, their doctrine was far from what we would call Protestant. The first KJV in 1611 contained:
1) A calender of all Catholic Holidays
2) The Book of Common Prayers
3) Liturgical Homolies for infant baptism and the Eucharist
4) The Apochrypha
5) Hundreds of pages of material that was nothing less than Catholic
6) Puritans refused to bring the KJV to the New World

The catholics did not give us the bible. Also, just because we use a KJV does not mean we are protestants.

As you watch this, listen for the word "impossible" and please keep these scriptures in mind...
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
(Mark 10:27)
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
(Luke 1:37)
